Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child Book Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“High-powered, intricately wrought suspense.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

“Hold on tight. . . . This novel will give you whiplash as you rabidly turn pages. . . . May be [Lee Child’s] best.”—USA Today

New York City. Two in the morning. A subway car heading uptown. Jack Reacher, plus five other passengers. Four are okay. The fifth isn’t. And if you think Reacher isn’t going to get involved . . . then you don’t know Jack.

Susan Mark, the fifth passenger, had a big secret, and her plain little life was being watched in Washington, and California, and Afghanistan—by dozens of people with one thing in common: They’re all lying to Reacher. A little. A lot. Or just enough to get him killed. A race has begun through the streets of Manhattan, a maze crowded with violent, skilled soldiers on all sides of a shadow war. For Jack Reacher, a man who trusts no one and likes it that way, the finish line comes when you finally get face-to-face and look your worst enemy in the eye.

BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Lee Child's A Wanted Man.

“Propulsive . . . [Child is] an expert at ratcheting up tension.”—Los Angeles Times

“A top-notch thriller.”—Booklist (starred review)

“Edgy . . . thoroughly engrossing.”—The Miami Herald

Awesome!!!. Great book, great series. I loved it!!! Gets a little sadistic at times though...

Another great read. Fantastic

Gone Tomorrow. In this book, Reacher really takes care of business. Brutal and efficient.

Gone Tomorrow. Overly detailed and complex. Stuck it out for 300 pages and gave up. I have read a number of Reacher yarns and this one flunked the test. Not surprised it was so cheap, but save your ,money.

Uh... No.. I'm only halfway through. I'm tired of Jack Reacher and his unexplainable, unsupported, "I know what's going on and I'm going to tell everyone." Add to that a lack of suspense or action. I'm not claiming to read any good books but I would recommend Baldacci instead - at maybe 4 stars.

Jack Reacher at his best. Lee Child has given Jack Reacher a little more grace and sophistication in this novel. The book has a great pace with well researched plot lines and supporting data with plenty of suspense and hidden agendas to go along. This book was a great late night read!

Jack Reacher at his vengeful best!. Jack Reacher is an unstoppable force.

Another hit!. This never gets old. Hard to put down.

Worst So Far. I’ve read all the Reacher books so far, and thy e all been able to retain my attention despite the author’s sometimes excessive descriptions. This book was just terrible. The plot was poor, very little character development, and tons of boring descriptions of New York. Literally, descriptions of Reacher walking from block to block for pages on end. So boring. Painfully boring. Skip this one.

GREAT SERIES!. This is where it all began for me....after reading this book, I was hooked on "Reacher"! I went back to his first novel, Running Blind, and never looked back! This is still one of my favorites, some are better than others but all are an engaging read.

Excellent. Lee Child back to his usually standards. Excellent story line, great subject matter... High action Reacher at his best, but getting a little slower with age. You're going to live this one.

First Time Reader of Lee Child .... I enjoyed this book and will certainly read in the future. The book did a nice job of building suspense and laying out a complex story line. At times I got a bit tired of overly detailed descriptions of the scenery and glossed over. Overall I like the Jack Reacher character and the 1st person narrative ... nice discovery of a new author to read.

Gone tomorrow. I thought Child did a great job building suspense after suspense. A real page turner.

Amazing. Any militant minded person will greatly appreciate Child’s ability to paint the scene with military-like attention to detail. Reacher is a military man and the details bring you completely in his mind and able to see the world from his point of view.

Good but not great. I think this story started off real slow and had little to no action until about halfway through. The end battle was one of the more ferocious you’ll read in any book and certainly gave the book the ending it deserved

One of the best in the series. Powerful, suspenseful, and NYC

What’s up with all the errors?. i have only read the first 50 pages and this may turn out to be a very good book, however the number of errors and typos in the text is seriously distracting. I expect better from Apple iBooks.

Same story different woman. It seems in all of these Jack reacher stories. He beds the protagonist, even when it has no bearing on the story. Save a chapter leave that crap out.

Disappointed. A little too much detail, I thought it would never end. Too much violence! Just not my kind of book!

Typical Lee CHILD. Typical, as in excellent and entertaining! Ten stars!!!

Gone Tomorrow. Great as are all of Lee’s stuff

Gone tomorrow. Great book but you have to pay attention things in the beginning have an affect on things latter on. Some inside humor all in all the book is the kind I like to read

Thrilling. This was my first reacher book and my favorite so far!

Nice read. I enjoyed the read.

Slow climb up but great ride down!. Hard to put down once I got into it. Dragged on at the beginning then picked up momentum. Likable characters and interesting turns.

Good. Great read!! Thanks

Great book. The mystery was well developed. I enjoyed the way the suspense built and the story kept me on my toes. The twists and turns in the story gave to an unpredictable conclusion. I have the book and already read and reread unite a number of times. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a good, well written read.

Excellent read!. Thrilling from the beginning to the end!

Gone Tomorrow. Phenomenal and bloody. Simple unable to put it down.

Excellent. I have had some issues with a few other Reacher books. Couldn’t put this one down, although Child’s obsession with detail can get pretty anal.

Total package. Of all the Reacher series I’ve read, this one was the my favorite.
