Descriptive. George is the Bob Ross of books, painting quite the lovely scene for the readers. SOMETIMES it is hard to read such boring stuff, but hey, lesbian book porn.

This book is overrated.. It has three Arya chapter, Bran, the worst character gets 7.

Frustrating!!!. Since I watched the first series of HBO's Game of Thrones I was hooked. So I purchased and read the first three books in quick succession and fell in love with the main characters....only to find them all but disappear in book four! I am very upset with the author and if I'd been reading the novel in a paper back instead of my iPad I would have tossed it at the wall! About to start book five so I'm hoping George R. Martin will compensate for the misery of A Feast for Crows.

Sick of this story. I really enjoyed the first book but I am tired of story lines and anticipated outcomes dying with the characters. Way too much detail in every book but this one is just boring. Get on with the story and quit drawing everything out just for tv rights and more money. I will not buy the latest book

Stop killing all the normal people, dammit!. I'm totally addicted to this series, but I'm starting to get really tired of all the non-psychopaths getting killed off! I have to see it through to the end, but if only the psychos survive, I'm gonna burn all my copies! Grrrrrrr!!!

Great book. I think many readers are turned off by the downfall of the Starks. It seems the author has fallen victim to his own devices, especially the first person narratives. For one to appreciate these books, he/she needs to understand that the Starks, though noble and honorable, were judgmental and wrong about their "so-called" enemies. Spoiler alert: the Starks were conned into a war with the Lannisters by their own assumptions, and this led to their downfall. If a reader accepts this premise, book 4 will open up the rest of the non-Stark world. The Starks were not the only good, or interesting, people in the 7 kingdoms. Plus, there is still the possibility of the Stark family's redemption. If you want to read an unbelievable fantasy where the good, weak characters overcome all obstacles and suffer no casualties, read Tolkien. His books are filled with unrealistic fantasy, like Hobbits saving the world in 100,000 vs 1,000 battles. If you want to read a realistic, thoughtful fantasy, read the Song of Ice and Fire. These books have more depth in the footnotes than lord of the rings had in the entire series. Jamie Lannister, Arya Stark, Tyrion, and Jon Snow are the best characters in the series. Ned Stark was just an introduction into the real world.

Slow moving. Great series but this is easily the worst of the first 4. Essentially nothing happens for the first 60% of the book. My guess is HBO cuts this down to about 2 episodes. I'm glad I waited until now to read the series as it would have been pretty painful to wait years for this only to be left wanting. As it is, I could just power through to get to the next one. I understand splitting the book, but with all the characters that were killed off in A Storm of Swords and the more compelling characters left for A Dance With Dragons, there's too many open plot lines. I know everything I need to know about Brienne and Jaime at this point, they've been going around the Riverlands in circles for 3 books. Disappointing. Hope Book 5 makes it worth it all.

Underrated. Many will binge read this series and once finished with book 3 they will be so wrapped up in the story that the introduction of many new characters and POVs will throw them off a bit. I find it to be incredibly satisfying and integral to opening up the perspective of Westeros and across the Narrow Sea. I've read it twice now and the second time was better than the first. Between the soap opera that is Dorne, to the unexpected journey of Arya, to Brienne's quest and many other story lines, A Feast For Crows offers suspense, betrayals, and plot twists.

Typos Galore. I love this series. What I didn't love was the number of typos! I understand it's a long book, but come on! Very distracting. Otherwise, worth the read.

Only half?. As I followed the characters, I kept wanting to hear about some favorite characters... I did not expect to be told at the end... Oops... Buy another book!

Great book, but.... ...not as good as the first three. It s elms like this book was meant to buy extra time for Martin to finish the fifth book. None the less I did enjoy it thoroughly.

Worth the work of reading. This book was by far the slowest read of the series so far, but it is still worth trouble. It does help paint a picture of what life is like throughout westeros that largely goes ignored when chapters are devoted to Jon, Dany and Tyrion. Parts were slow and I would go weeks between chapters for a little bit, but towards the end I was turning pages faster than Samwell in a library.

It took awhile but it was worth it. I had a hard time getting into this book. All of the new characters and places reminded me of the first book. However, the last few chapters came to some great conclusions which have me very excited to start reading the next book. I can't wait for the 3rd season to start on HBO and see it with my eyes.

Is this the same author?. Let me start by saying that the first 2 books in this series are genuinely some of the best fantasy novels ever written and they place Martin in a class with Tolkien, Lewis, White, Le Guin, Scott Card, Sanderson, Jordan, and Peter Brett. (yes Brett is newer, but amazing.) I could go on, but you get my point. Then the 3rd book comes out and I sighed. Most series have THAT book, the one that just seems to have been a filler. When book 4 came out, after an eternity of waiting, I finally realized that Martin truly has lost his way. In deference to the inspired writing of the first 2 books, I graciously gave this book 3 stars. The writing itself is certainly 3 stars, but the plot, weave, consistency, and general entertainment value are more in the 2 star range. Problem 1) Matin has introduced too many characters that are not really central to the storyline and does not focus enough on the ones that are truly intriguing. I think that he killed off main characters that he now wants back but can not reasonably bring them back. Problem 2) Martin, in an attempt to either lengthen the book or just because he likes lists, has started to included pages of lists about things, like what was packed for a journey, that are completely unnecessary. Problem 3) The storyline has split into so many directions that I don't know if Martin knows where he wants any of it to go. I think he keeps changing his mind and therefore we are all in limbo as he tries to decide which direction he wants to choose or he really doesn't know where to go now. Problem 4) I think that he has lost interest and passion for this series. Problem 5) I think he wants a lengthy series, like Jordan's or King's, but does not really have the material planned for that and so he is stinging out small subplots and not really having any true minor climax / resolutions in these middle books that still tie into an overall general and sustainable plot line. Problem 6) I think that he has made up some really weird things to try and put more intrigue into the books but does not really know the answers to these mysteries himself or does not know how to make them come to a climax and resolution while still moving on with new mysteries. All in all, after the 4th book, I decided to take a break. I really am not interested in reading Dance with Dragons because the series that I loved was left dangling and unresolved somewhere between book 2 and book 3. Hopefully HBO will help Matin reignite the passion and give him some guidance with where to go from here. Martin has displayed that he is a gifted fantasy writer with true and rare talent. As to whether or not he has the talent to make this into a 10 book series that keeps the reader invested, I am not sure. Currently I think he may have been better off writing this as a trilogy. Hopefully he can weave all the loose threads together into an amazing tapestry in book 6, but I am not sure if he has the passion for it anymore and I certainly don't think that very many of us have the patience to wait another 7 years to see if he can convince us that there is a plan in place to make it all worth it.

Must read, kind of. Anyone who's made it this far in the series has to read this book. Having said that, it's my least favorite of the series (note: my least favorite is still deserving of 3 stars). It's a but tedious and dwells on some if the lesser characters from the earlier novels, but those interested in the epic series as a whole will have no problem making it through. Think of it as a way of filling in the gaps and setting up certain situations so that the tale can then resume at the pace that it began. My advice: power through the slow chapters, enjoy the exciting ones, and look forward to seeing your favorite characters playing into the story-lines established here.

love learning about these characters. I still really liked this book. I'm invested in the characters and want to read about them more and more. But, this book is nowhere near as great as the others. Especially the way the last one ended I expected to be blown away by this one. I will definitely continue reading the series though.

A Feast for Crows. This book is not at all as good as the last three. My favorite characters (Tyrion Lannister & Jon Snow) weren't there. I know they'll be there in the next book, but I'm just dissapointed that they weren't here in this book. This book was very very dull. I hated reading about Brienne & I'm still waiting for someone to chop Sansa's pretty little head off. I've hated her since the first book. The one satisfying thing about this book is how Cersei gets locked up. That was funny. I also like how Daernys Targaryen was not included in this book. I can't stand her. Her chapters are boring, & she's stupid. Another criticism have about the book (& all the others as well) is the obsession for porn. It's really not necessary for someone to be having sex EVERY DANG CHAPTER.

Solid.. Ill admit, FFC read a little slower than the previous 3 books, but it was a decent, fun read if you loved the others. I'll reserve my final judgement until i read the next one. Im not sure how anyone can say this book is irrelevant to the story arc when the author hasn't even finished the series yet! For all you know, this may turn out to be the most relevant of all the books!

Feast of Crows. Im not even done with this one but I don't look forward to the end of the day and reading as before. I'm only reading this because I got hooked on the first (three). It is very slow and tedious. So many new characters to wade through. I hope something happens soon!

Missing elements. This is missing some of the great characters of the other books. It is different but still a good read.

Text choice. I enjoy the reading, but this reversed white text on black that I bought hurts my eyes. Is there any way to fix that?

Game of Trones Fest of Crows. Great book, love the chraters and keeps me wanting to read more.

Still worth it. the book is slower than the first three but if you are a true GoT fan you will power through it to get to the fifth installment where all the beloved characters are the headliners once again

Bored. Sorry George but you have lost a fan. I am tired of reading detailed descriptions of twisting plots that progress to no where. I rather read a self help time management book. Catch you on the flip side.

My least favorite of the series so far, but.... STILL great stuff. At least once you are 75% of the way in. It's pretty slow and labored until then. Stay with it. Eventually you'll care about the Martells, too.

The story continues.... I really don't get all the complaining about this book. While it read a bit slower that the three previous books, the story continues and all the characters are covered with new ones introduced that are as interesting as anyone else in the story, and are necesary to the telling of the whole tale. I liked this book just as much as the others.

A feast of crows. Disappointed, after reading this installment. The previous books were entertaining, this book is course and lacks creativity. Time to put the finale on this series and move on.

4/5. Overall this is a very good book that is almost impossible to put down! However, I writing this review so I say that there were many misspellings. Not sure if this is true in the original publication but I would want to go around claiming that a book of this size is free from typos. Again it was a very enjoyable read with a few minor issues!

Fantastic novel but some might feel lacks.. I'd have to say I enjoyed this read just as much as I have book two and three. A "Feast for Crows" is still a phenomenal read just lacks certain characters you keep hoping to come across in a chapter. That's the drawback when you've created such a massive world. However, there is no lack in suspense and climax I've learnt to trust the mans vision and this book is just as rewarding as the next. The man has constantly taught you not get that attached to characters and if you cannot go a book without a certain character your prefer- your in for a rude awaking. Don't be prejudice every character is as Intriguing as the next. A must read for all fans of the series.

Terrible Read! Boring.. It was like pulling teeth to get through. Poor content, lots of filler, boring new characters. I could not put down the first three books. I wonder if someone else helped him write this book. No way this is 4 stars, who is doing the math? Just look at the last 10 reviews. I hope "dance with dragons" gets better, I could not stomach wading thru another book like this.

Martin has lost his touch. First three were best books I ever read this and a dance with dragons or whatever were complete let downs and totally forgettable! Don't waste your money! I demand a rewrite!!! It's like he was writing for tv instead of his fans who read his books long before HBO.

To all whom say this is the worst book in the series. For all people stating that this book is a "mummers farce" and not worth reading, do yourselves a favor and visit the Song of Ice and Fire website and there you will find George RR martins dilemma: This book and Dance With Dragons are the same book which he felt was (obviouslly) to large to release as one volume and spilt it into two books. If you read between the lines in A Feast For Crows you will see that he is setting the stage for a conclusion that will rock the world of Weteros! To skim this book, or skip paragraphs to get to the "Good Stuff" is a a cheat to yourself! Samwell Tarly may not have been as awesome as Robb Stark, but he is shaping into a key player and will most likley survive to the end, unlike others whom have been killed off early on. So please do yourselves a favor, read this book, and take to heart what Mr, Martin is laying down, you will not be dissapointed!

Anemic. Wow. After such a blistering start, to have this book thrown into the mix is beyond a disappointment. Unlike all the previous books that I could hardly put down, this book becomes painful to pick up. Had this been the first or only book written I would never have put the effort into finish it. I plan to give the author the benefit of the doubt and read the next book. If it is as taxing as this one,though, I'm done.

Worst book of the series. I love this series so much, but this book was so dull. It's like reading a whole new book with new characters and a different story. I don't like these characters. I don't know them. I don't love them. I don't hate them. I don't root for them to win or to fail. They are just totally indifferent to the story and to me. What was George R. R. Martin thinking with this one? I will keep reading the series, but getting through this book has been work. Once I put it down, it's hard to pick it up again.

Boring.. This book was just boring. It had some good parts, but not a whole lot.

Under rated and information heavy. While this is by far the least loved of all the books, I admit that I too took my time in getting through it...once I reread it I was shocked that my impatience and excitement for the usual unexpected deaths, the company of mystery and lore was more prevalent and specific character POVs were the most important and story lines involving the greyjoy line, as well as Jamie are well worth the time it takes to muddle through this novel. It truly is well done and wildly unappreciated because it couldn't possibly be the epic mass destruction and madness that made A Storm of Swords such glorious fun to read....I still say this is a fantastic read. Arya and her subplot is to die for, and again I stress the awesomeness of learning more about the history of Pike and the religion of the Drowned God is too cool for words. So seriously, give it a chance, you'll be glad you did.

Worst of the series. This one was a chore! None of the characters you want to read about. When you look forward to a Cersei chapter there is something wrong. I had to put this book down twice and read two other books before finishing it. Glad it's over!

Feast for crows. Bloated and rambling, this story does not need so much filler and repetition. I am still a fan of the series both the books and GOT. I get that characters eat and void, and the sex is lacking in creativity.

UnreAL. This series is sooo addictive. Sad to see my fav characters die!

A tad different. This book was a tad different, introducing new character stories and missing some of my favorites. It is still excellently written and carries the story forward.

Excellent. If you are reading this review now you may be considering reading this now. Talk would suggest this one is not as good as the others which is totally wrong. It was purely as amazing. If you read this six years ago I could understand missing some of the chapters that do not appear in this book. Also it ends very suddenly. Because today is today you can move right on to A Dance with Dragons and there is no waiting for the next volume. Grab them both and just go. Enjoy it.

Disappointing. George, next time use the "to be continued..." method like every other book. The way you left out all the main characters was stupid. It's obvious you are now just putting words after words to make more money. I read 5 books yet nothing is getting near conclusion. Waste of time

A Good Read. "A Feast For Crows" is the fourth installment in the Song of Ice & Fire saga, and some claimed that it was the weakest of the 5 books. I will agree that it is not as captivating as the first three novels in the series, however it is not as boring as some reviews will lead you to believe it is. Arya, Cersei and Jaime do hold the more interesting plots, and the book strays to the Iron Islands and Dorne frequently, which I found to be the less interesting parts. All in all, I do recommend it because some subtle things happen in this book that set the series up for some big things to come!
