I loved this book and would totally recomend this to any sports fan. I loved this book and I would recomend this to any sports fan in general. The insight is incredable on how Joe Torre was pushed by the late George Steinbrenger to keep pushing his team and keep winning enven though he thought he had done enough. I really didn't think he had that much pressure on him untill I read this but now I understand why he had to leave the team he loved. plus this book proves the old stigma the better the player the worse coach/Gm proves true. I'm not saying he was a bad player but he wasn't all time great.

The Yankee Years. at 62 years old, I am a life long Cardinal fan. Like so many of my baseball friends here in St. Louis I have harbored a genetic dislike for the Yankees, and their seeming arrogance, dominance, and ability to "buy World Series rings". Having read this book I now understand how difficult it was for Torre to work with the hand and players he was dealt, both on and off the field, in management especially, but the pressure of operating, successfully mind you, in that crucible, I can now say that I "get it", and I now tip my hat to him, for all he did for NYC, Yankee fans, and baseball itself. All who read this review, I say to you that this book is very much worth your time to read, digest, and reassess your personal view of the Yankees. I have, and I'm am glad I read it, and will forever look at the Bronx Bombers in a different, less harsh light. I remain a Cardinal fan, and the vial stench emitted by the Yankees is considerably less pungent, and now tolerable.
