Beautifully written. Reminds me of Chinua Achebe and professor Wole Soyinka's way of story telling. Kind of book I'd love me children to read. Good to know that there's someone in my generation that writes as beautifully as this. Well done sister!!!!

Awesome!. I've been waiting for this book to get on iBooks. Had the paperback version but I got it missing. It is such a human story, all the characters and flaws. And it depicts a struggle that Nigerians have been trying to ignore. I didn't even know there was a war. It does a really nice depiction of how we can all change under impossible circumstances. Author deserves applauds.

An absolute gem. I absolutely loved this book. Not only was it a very interesting story reflecting a terrible war that I knew little about, but through the eyes of a cast of characters that were absolutely dazzling in their strength and fallibilities. If you like historical fiction and stories about families, this is a must read .

Brilliant. As one of the children of Biafra (I experienced the war as a five to eight year old boy), I say thank you to Ms. Adichie for writing a book I often thought of writing but could never have written as well as she did. Thank you for writing about an event that we should never forget.

I could not put this book down. This was the first book I ever read by this author. After this book I tracked down her other books and read them all. She’s such a talented writer. This has got to be one of my favorite fictional books. I know so many people that can relate to this story & I see glimpses of real life people & situations. Wonderful writing great book.

Brought me to tears more than once.. I’m here because of the author’s Ted talk. This read was incredible. She has this amazing way of writing that immerses you deeply in each character. She’s incredible. I can’t wait to read another book by her.
