Read as a school book for 6th gradw. I was not too interested in the book myself, but it gave me the feeling that I needed to know what happened. I ended up reading ahead to get over with the book and I’d say it’s worth it. The strong topics hit home a lot. The topics of things like rape were touched on, but handled with care and not insulted. The book was perfect for class, and helped every one learn a bit more about their county, most/all students come from the D.R.
an amazing book😍. must buy , Julia Alvarez tells the true meaning of what it was like to line in the "Trujillo Era". Being dominican myself , it was written beautifully
Needed to buy this for school.. The title gives you everything you need to know about this book. You know a book is going to boring if you are required to read it in school. Now, if I wasn't required to read it in school, and I read it outside of school, I might of liked it. But seriously, this book isn't that good.
Must have. It was a good book ! I recommend it to anyone , I read it in one day couldn't put it down lol
