A look into a part of the world I will probably never get to see, but after this book,I wanted to leave on the next plane to Thula Thula. It was explained to me by a friend that did go there, that the publisher in Europe did not release it in the USA...I was so glad to see that you had book! PS. mr. Publisher...Americans would love this...please share it with the world!

Some hyperbole. This book was interesting in parts, but I found many discrepancies in some of the "facts" he reports. The "fact" that they can't keep certain snake antivenin at the house because it doesn't keep. In fact, that particular antivenin is good for at least 6 months if kept refrigerated. Also, at one point he mentions wild elephants holding on to other elephant's tails. This is a behavior never seen in wild elephants....it's a trained behavior used by circus elephants. I just felt many of the experiences related in this book were exaggerated ....many just did not make sense!

WOW!!. I can't tell you how much I truly love this book. I read it in 2 days. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. What a truly magnificent elephant Nana is

The Elephant Whisperer. I couldn't put this down! I agree with another review, book my flight, I'm ready to go! I have a special place in my heart for all animals, but Elephants in particular. I was captivated by his descriptions of the habits and behaviors of these giants. What a wonderful read. If only I could make such a contribution to the world in such a subtle but outlandish way. I have always wanted to visit this part of the world, now more than ever. Well done Lawrence, rest in peace!

Please honor this book and this species by not attending circuses, zoos or anything where animals that should be free and wild are kept in cages. Loved it!!!. This was a fabulous book that gives you a new and inspiring look into an amazing herd of wild elephants rescued and rehabilitated into the wild! Laughter, tears and amazement are just a few of the emotions this book brings out ;)

The Elephant Whisperer. Bravo....what an inspirational read! I had the opportunity to live in South Africa for a year & visited Umfolozi game reserve & many others & developed a true love of elephants myself. I especially enjoyed Lawrence taking the reader into the meeting houses of the Chiefs and explaining the Zululand culture....so interesting! What an amazing man Lawrence Anthony is...a true hero for African wildlife.

So real, so grounded. This is the best book on Africa I have ever read. It is so authentic and its genuine love of the land, animal and people is so palpable that it made me long to return to the place of my childhood.
