Best book I have read in a long time. When I first downloaded this book I wasn't sure what to expect. I had never heard of this author. At first I thought this book would be a waste of time.I was quickly blown out of the water by this book. It is very well written and holds your interest. Sanders I'm buying your second book just minutes after finishing this one.

Not a bad beguinning. If I had paid for this e-book I would have been annoyed. It is not a standalone story. It is the setup for what appears to be a 5 book epic. That said I did like what I saw. The writing is good with multiple detailed characters. The captain is the epitome of the flawed hero. The only weak point is the author relies on dumb luck to get him out of trouble too often.

An interesting book.. I find that the Phoenix Conspiracy is an interesting book series because it introduces a new sense of mystery then the average science fiction book. When it put a use mythology such as the Phoenix and the werewolf, and vampire as a remorii i found it unique in a sort of fiction that takes place in space.

I LOVE THIS BOOK TOO MUCH. This kept me hooked, and I'm already hyped to read the next book! I know it's out, so I might as well go buy it!! 🍕😘😘

Spectacular. This is the first time ive ever read a book and not been able to put it down. The plot is engaging and mysterious but the big reveals all feel like they make sense.

Typical sci-fi. There’s a neat plot in here if that’s what matters to you, but a good story is about more than plot. A good plot only counts for three of the five stars, and you’ll notice that’s all this book gets from me. For starters, the text looks like it was never edited. There are numerous grammar errors, not enough that it disrupts the reading noticeably, but enough that you WILL notice, and it’ll start to irk you. The writing isn’t stand-out either. What really irks me is the total lack of character development. The characters are all completely flat, with no development at all, and all fit into clichéd archetypal roles. There’s the faceless, evil, corrupt government and military. There’s the brilliant and pure-of-heart commander who’s deemed a criminal because he fights them. There’s the young maverick captain who’s better than everyone despite doing everything incorrectly. The list goes on. It’s a wholly unimaginitive cast of characters, and it disappointed me thoroughly.

Phoenix Conspiracy. Great book! I actually resented having to do other things beside reading. Minor details like heart attacks & missing presents. I'm also so sick it makes me nauseated to move my eyes, but that didn't stop me! Good solid characters, multiple deep characters with enough detail to feel authentic atmosphere & emotional contact. Thanks for your hard work. Thanks for twists & turns that kept me reading way beyond what I should. Good books are worth some sleepless nights or dizzy spells.

The Phoenix Conspiracy. The book was intense with action. I thought it took a bit to show the direction the characters were going but once I got into it didn't want to put it down. Need to get to the next book as soon as possible.

“He hated arrogant women, especially the attractive kind...had everything handed to them”. Couldn’t get past this part. Literally stopped listening/reading. Dude had no business speaking to this woman and she told him she didn’t feel like speaking about a situation off the record and before a trial- and this is his reaction. All he could focus on was her physical beauty. This book sounded interesting but I have no desire to read yet another book from the point of view of a man who thinks he’s brighter and better than any living thing known as “woman”. Just no.

Excellent. Great story and writing. Worth buying the rest!

First Impressions. I read through chapter 1, and all I can say is, wow. There's no tedious introduction, no backstory flashback stuff, it just shoves you right into the action like, "This is happening." I like the first impression there and I hope the rest of the story follows suit.

Favorite. This book and the entire 7 book series has been my favorite of all time.

If you like science fiction, you'll like this book. Very enjoyable read, stayed up too late reading it more than once; hard to put down. Not deep but a great fast paced adventure. Characters that you have feelings about. Good female characters. All characters have dimension, not cutouts. I find ebooks clumsy, but I might have to buy the next one!

Very intriguing. The story was well written with subtle clues all leading to different answers to the mystery behind the scenes that kept me guessing.

Excellent. Very good, a tiny bit slow in the Summers/Clifford development, but a page turner. Can't wait to read the next installment.

Review Phoenix Conspiracy. I found this book quite enjoyable and read it within a week staying up. It was written in such a way to draw the reader in and feel apart of the story, so kudos there. The main characters though I found to be to the extreme. A druggy captain that seemed not to well engaged in his ship or able to figure things out when he was supposed to be a prodigy of the Intel Wing. Then the XO who's attitude and mutinous ways commandeering a ship she is not capable of understanding and could not wait to take over. The constant back and forth between the CO and XO would never be allowed and should not have been a theme. That said, the dynamics of the characters did help to get to know them.

So much good! This book is the stuff !!!. Well written, explained and ends with you looking for the rest of the books !

Excellent!!!. Richard Sanders creates an intriguing futuristic world in which mankind prospers in a space-aged environment populated with numerous races. But man's sovereignty is about to be challenged and governments, militarys and influential leaders will take sides and fight. The characters make sense and their individual decisions are both believable and understood. The story unfolds at a steady pace, filled with dilemma, twist and uncertainty, which kept me turning the pages for more. I wanted to understand what the characters understood and I wanted, even more than they did, to find out the truth behind the conspiracy. If you like Robert Ludlum novels and Dune and Star Trek and Star Wars – then you are sure to enjoy this series.

Excellent Series Introduction. Found this in the free series starter section, and was immensely pleased with the result. Really snappy, direct narrative style that keeps the action humming along. Well-written characters that feel like living people, the author does an outstanding job at making their personalities relatable and accessible. Moving along with the rest of the series and can't wait to see what unfolds. Highly recommended!

Good Military Mystery. It is so nice to have a story told without the use of profanity sprinkled through every paragraph, like so much obscene confetti. And it is even more refreshing to find it in a military based story, where other authors seem to think profane language comes issued with the uniform. I was hooked from the first page of this one. The author weaves an intricate story of betrayal, deceit, and uncommon bravery. The characters are relatable in the eccentricities and flaws, but you root for them anyway because they are just like us. I have no idea where this ride will go, but I am looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

Sub-par writing with a decent plot. Poor character development. Clumsy writing. Jumps around with little continuity but a good story with a few nice surprises. Not sure if I’m reading book 2 yet. This one was a bit of a struggle.

I enjoy story lines that could be realistic, in the future, not one full of ghost and monsters, and this book fills the bill perfectly. It read like a Robert Hinlen book. The Phoenix Conspiracy. Overly descriptive. I could see bits of Star Trek and Star Wars as I read. Having said all that, I shall buy the rest of the series just to find out the deep dark plot.

The Phoenix Conspiracy. I was initially sad that Cross was a drug addict. I could not guess how that would play as the story progressed. I look forward to the next book where I hope to have some closure on this. As for this book, the first in a trilogy, I thought it excellent. The story has to be deep and far reaching to sustain a trilogy. This story is. It makes me want to finish this review and get right back to reading the next book in the series, it makes me want to write my own story in this universe, and that is a powerful thing.

Good read. Similar to a Star Wars story and a few others but worth reading

Surprising. I haven't read an entire book since the final installment of Harry Potter. I've always loved science fiction and this really dragged me in with the whole space opera and cleverly woven intrigue. A good read, I recommend it.

Worth paying for.. I was skeptical of downloading this because it's free. I mean how good can a sci-fi book that is literally being given away actually be? The answer is very good. The Phoenix conspiracy doesn't try to be more than it is. The plots interesting, the characters are simple but compelling and it leaves you wanting more. Overall a very solid read.

Great read. Sci-Fi as gripping as any major film franchise set in future space. Well written and structured makes this book hard to put down. When you do you'll be headed straight for the sequel.

Turns the pages. Fair read, some of the lesser characters feel a little under developed but the story keeps coming at you, keeping you involved. The plot is a little obvious but there is a twist that explains it nicely and the path to the goal will keep your interest. Enjoy the story.

Phoenix conspiracy. There are so many great reads out there, that I always rate, but rarely review. A review of this book though, is a must, not of the storyline, but of the overall impact of finishing the story and being forced into getting the next book in the series. Over 400 pages and two sleepless nights. I will have to find something mundane for my next read before turning to book three, to enable me to recover my sleep pattern. This is basically a cross between Mass Effect and Star Wars. Seriously. If you've played Mass Effect you can quite obviously see where this guy got his ideas from. It's a good book, don't get me wrong, but some of it feels very forced, it's not written brilliantly, and it's copied Mass Effect hugely. If you're thinking of reading this book, don't, go play Mass effect instead.

Peter walker. A good solid book, this is a story that leaves you begging for the next instalment, it has so many lose ends you wish it had been longer to tie them all up, but like any good author you always leave you readers wanting more, and that is exactly what Richard Sanders has done here. I look forward to reading the next instalment.

Enjoyable enough. I liked the story, but wouldn't say it was anything other than light entertainment. The characters took a while to get beyond one dimensional, and then only just. The universe in which the story is set lacks depth and the writer struggles to convey character nuances.

I great start. I'll admit that I initially downloaded this book because it was free and really liked the cover. I was very glad I did. The author has created some great characters and I was immediately compelled to purchase the others once I'd finished reading it. The world if the Phoenix series is very well fleshed out, and clearly the author is well read in the genre. As there are several nods to other authors contributions. I would recommend anybody to try this, it's free and it's very hard to put down...

Top series. What a great series. I have tried to contact the author to see if he is going to write any more books but have had no reply.i could not put these down! Stay with the first book as the second will answer your questions.

Gripping Read. Just finished the 3rd Instalment of The Phoenix Conspiracy. What a find. Stumbled upon the first book only 5 days ago. This only shows the gripping and exciting world you are cast in to while reading these books. Richard Sanders does a magnificent job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, only able to guess what is going to happen next. Twists and turns, expect the unexpected, fantastic writing. I simply cannot wait until the next instalment. I certainly cannot fathom what path it shall take. The only slightly negative feedback I would have for these books is simply that...minor, nitpicking scrutiny. A few spelling error's here and there. The rarity of the wrong word being used, however it is most definitely still readable. Again I re-affirm what I said previously, this series is definitely one of the best I have ever read. I am in love with the characters that have been created. We get to know each and every one of them. I just cannot wait to see what happens in the next instalment. The Phoenix War! Hopeful to see it out soon. Edit: Having now finished the series and left my review on the final book, I would NOT recommend this series to anyone. I won’t go into all the details here as I have left a substantive review on book 7 however the series drastically goes down hill, the author clearly lost interest and thus his effort to impress his readers was lost.

Excellent piece of literature.. A wonderful work of art. The perfect military scifi I have ever had the fortune of reading. the perfect novel for the analytical reader. This is a novel I would be more than happy to pay for if it wasn't already free.

Pacing. The text is good, the characters are formed well enough. I can't help but feel, despite devouring the book in an evening, that there wasn't much there. I was particularly excited to read of fantasy elements that showed up, but then got only thirty seconds with them in an actual fight. There wasn't much mystery to it and not enough background to guess ahead ( I figured the crew transfer bit though, about as soon as I read the investigative teams research ). Hopefully, the next books will be great, richer, and I will be able to think of this one as a short history, in the meantime i will be re-reading Ravenor or Ender's game. I would recommend you read this, in the hope that we can encourage the author to continue writing. After all, practice makes perfect

The Phoenix Conspiracy. Book 1 was a pleasure to read. Curious, intriguing, commands you attention and provides plenty of action and twists. Thoroughly enjoyed it. BUT after the first book the series gets more and more bloated and repetitive. Quite boring at times.

Surprisingly good. Just finished this book. There is something always happening and keeps you entertained from start to finish. It's kind of like a mix between star trek and star gate sg1 but in his own style. can't wait for the next book!! Would recommend it!!

Very entertaining suspenseful sci-fi drama. I quite enjoyed this book. Unusual in that there are really two lead characters with almost equal billing. Both are likeable in their own very different ways. It was a puzzle from the beginning to try to solve why the fugitive would have done such a crime. The flawed captain is equally intriguing with his addiction and impulsiveness. The XO interesting as the strong and disciplined female commander. Great cast of characters and an action filled and interesting plot that never let up the suspense. Great read.

Great book in the style of the old SYFY story's. Avery good space adventure. I haven't found many in the last few years that did not try to emulate Star Wars, this however seems to me to be of the old type of adventures from the early years of science fiction. It is very refreshing to find something that gets the imagination going without feeling you are reading something trying to be a movie. Again a very good tale keep it up Richard.

Amazing. I have read about 50-60 free books on my iphone now, I am not a hugs fan of scifi books and never have really read any but the halo series, but this is 100% THE BEST free ebook I have ever read, tops other free ebooks and many many none free books. The author has an amazing writing skill and displays his diverse knowledge of many subjects in his plot of this book. Pick this up and read it!

Great Book. Really enjoyed reading this book.

Gives a sense of intrigued that makes you want to read.. The book was amazing, put together well, and full of twists and turns around every corner. Once I started reading I just couldn’t stop till it was done. Definitely left me wanting more
