Fantastic read. The author lays a solid foundation of responsive web design in the first few chapters, answering the why's and how's all along the way. Then, he flips that foundation on its head, skimming just enough of the surface of "mobile first" and "progressive enhancement" ideas to explain the why's and how's all over again. I'm so happy I read is book. I can't wait to put all of these techniques into practice.

Great book. It's an excellent, and to the point, book that outlines real working examples of responsive designs... and a road map on how you may get to it immediately! My only criticism would be the tail end of the book (dipping into the team process and the mobile first paradigm) is tall on assumption and slow moving. I sped through that like lightning, brushed off as a touch to the subjective, but otherwise nothing to taint the first 7/8 of a well thought out book. A great purchase for the intermediate and seasoned alike!

Well written and informative. Subject says it. Good read and information. Easy to understand to me but I am a website owner for 16 years.

Brilliant and Timely read. I was looking for a quick how-to and came across this book. It's not about learning every coding trick under the sun although it offered some great examples. It was immensely valuable to me in that it helped shaped a new way of approaching a web development project. He made the overall concept and shift of thinking about web design from finite and exact to responsive and adaptive relatively simple and it was a great and fast read.

Great for noobs, pretty decent for pros. If you've never designed for mobile or even different screen resolutions then this book is great. I'd recommend it for beginners to web design as it will have them designing the "right" way from the start. The author does a great job of explaining the what and, more importantly, the why of responsive design. He gives you the techniques and outside resources for more in depth study. That was the book in a nutshell so now here's my personal experience with this book: I'm experienced in building sites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It was a quick read because I had come across all of these techniques before. None of this was really new to me but it helped me a lot despite that. I was able to take my passing knowledge of responsive design and actually understand it to the point where I could finally apply it successfully. My only complain, and the reason I only gave it 4 stars, was because I didn't find anything too new and I felt that the book was a little light on some (but not too many) more specific techniques for designing for mobile. If you have very little to no knowledge of HTML or CSS then you're better off getting a book on HTML./CSS first as you'll need to be able to understand the code examples. The author does give good explanations of the code so please note beginners with a decent understanding will get it but total noobs probably won't. Also note that if you're deciding between the Responsive book and Mobile First book there is a difference. This book touches briefly on Mobile first but is far from focused on it. Note the difference between these subjects. Mobile First is concerned with giving mobile devices priority in design and content. Responsive design is more about reformatting one set of content for a wide range of resolutions. There's a slight difference but I'd recommend this book first if you've never designed for mobile. This is a $9 book, a short, easy read. It's very much a general overview but still incredibly useful to get anyone building real world responsive sites. I very much recommend it.

Awesome Read. Very informative and well written. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, especially the iBooks version! The videos make it extremely interesting.

Enjoyable read. One of the most enjoyable reads on web development to date.

Brilliant, very good intro into responsive design. Very well written and easy to understand. Came away feeling I understand responsive design and its applications. Completely sold. Well done. I recommend this book.

Excellent. A really great book for someone that wants to learn more about responsive design. Ethan has a very laid back writing style which leads to some funny parts. Loads of practical examples as well. Definitely worth a read.

Stops you being static!. After a dozen years building fixed width sites professionally, I finally feel like I can make the move to a responsive methodology. Having always felt that liquid designs were limiting in what could be achieved aesthetically, Responsive Web Design demonstrated that designing for multiple platforms can in fact be done with relative ease and without sacrificing any aesthetic values, the end result being more inclusive, more functional and more appropriate web sites. Highly recommended

Must read. This is a most read for any web designer/developer. It brought incredible insights and learned tons of techniques that I'll definitely use in future projects. Completely worth it!

A good read for responsive web design beginners!. Great book, easy to read. Not so much technical stuff. Good introduction to the subject. You should read it if you consider introducing responsive web design in your workflow; throws great bases for your reflexion.
