Taken by Robert Crais Book Summary
The search for a missing girl leads private investigators Elvis Cole and Joe Pike into the nightmarish world of human trafficking in this #1 New York Times bestseller from Robert Crais.
When Nita Morales hires Elvis Cole to find her missing daughter, she's sure it's a ruse orchestrated by the girl and her boyfriend. She's wrong. They've been taken by bajadores—border bandits who prey on the innocent by buying, selling, and disposing of victims like commodities.
Cole and Joe Pike start an undercover investigation to find the couple, but their plan derails when Cole disappears, leaving Pike to burn through the murderous world of human traffickers to find his friend as well as the missing young people. But he may already be too late...

Outstanding. The best Cole/Pike yet, with Jon Stone stepping up in a major role. Sensational.
Another Great Crais Novel .... As always, Crais doesn't disappoint. The author steps up the action in this, his latest Cole/Pike novel.
Wow!. Could not put it down. Finished it in less than a day. Elvis Cole, Joe Pike, and Jon Stone are all tough as nails. What a thriller!
Really good book. Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are a great team. Each Crais book gets better and better.
Taken. I think I've read all the books, Elvis and Pike. This one is the best yet, Crais is still improving after all the stories, getting even better at his craft. Many writers stumble into PC psycho babble when trying to give their tough guy hero a human side but Crais has a deft touch imbuing Cole and even Pike a little, with a softer side but not reducing their ability to be as tough as nails when needed. Good read!
One of the better ones in an already great series. Great action and pace as always. I was pleased the author did not rehash all of the character introductions (including the cat) as fully in this installment, as I was finding those a bit tiresome for readers of the complete series like myself. We’re back to Cole & Pike rather than one or the other, plus more character development for Jon Stone. Can’t say much more without spoilers but if you’ve liked this series you’ll love this one too. If you’re new to the series I’d go back at least a few installments if not to the beginning. They’re all good.
Taken. WOW best so far
Great read. One of the best Cole/Pike books I've read.
Oops. Great read as usual with elvis cole, except just before the climax, there was an error and the next part was the aftermath! I missed the whole part!
Taken. Elvis, Pike, and now Stone, what a threesome! Way to go Robert Crais!
Top of his game. Waited anxiously for this latest in the series. Got it delivered to my iPad and finished it in 2 hours - a great read - as expected, All of the requisite action is there; Elvis' sleuthing and humor, Pike's directness and violence, and loved the addition of Stone (could this be a new series). The plot twists and turns coupled with the timeliness of the plot line kept me glued to my seat and screen. The villains were as evil and cruel as one would need for the offset by the avenging nature of our heroes. All in all a very satisfying story. Have read all of the novels and was not in any way disappointed by Taken. I highly recommend it.
Loved it. My favorite one so far
Action Packed. From cover to cover. Great read
TAKEN. Thrill ride start to stop. Unusual style that took a while to grasp. Once you get the various directions the story takes then it unfolds with double terrific results. Type of book you look forward to when you come home. Suggest you re-read the last 3-5 pages when you start to properly regain your seat on the ride. Very believable characters that you care about or want to murder. I'm a new follower of this author and await the next adventure.
One of His Best. As always Crais got me from the start of the book. It was very hard to put down. Great stuff and it isn't as if I didn't have distractions I am on vacation in Spain!
Robert Crais. I fell in love with Elvis Cole and Joe Pike with the first novel and have missed none since then! The incredible mix of whimsy and testosterone is irresistible. Betty Grace Cook
A great read.. This is one of Crais's best efforts. The topic is of current interest and points a light at a serious worldwide problem -- human trafficking. Well worth reading.
Taken. Excellent book. Kept me up into the wee hrs. In this day and age of the reality of such elite secret military groups like "Seal Team 6", "Taken" offers a glimpse into this world of hero's.
Time Warp. I read many of Crais’ Cole/Pike books and usually like them even if Crais spends too much time with the driving details of his characters. It a little like Siri giving driving directions. Nevertheless, my issue with this book is the time sequences going back & forth. I would have preferred a straight time line.
Taken. By boysmumas This is the first book I have read in the Joe Pike series since I don't normally like to follow buddy type plots. I was pleasantly surprised with the bond that these two men had for each other. The twists and turns in this novel were amazing. I will certainly look forward to the next book in this series.
Taken. This book starts out a little slower than most of Mr. Crais' books. No time wasted, just a lot to setup. Stick with it. This is an extremely satisfying read. Definitely one of his best!
Excellent as always. I loved this book and read it in one day. Waiting for the next one. One of his better books although they are all good.
Terrific. I waited as patiently as I could for this book to be released, and it is completely worth that wait! Mr. Crais gets better every time; I think this is his best yet. Both Cole and Pike have such intelligence, skills and values. Having them together in the book makes it a special treat. The pacing and changing points of view add to the tension, making it sooo hard to put down! It's a great read and ultimately a satisfying story. And I'll wait as patiently as I can for Mr. Crais' next book.....
Taken. I can’t say much about this book because I might give away spoilers. I’m guessing that people in real life go through much more violence and cruelty. I don’t think I could read that though. This book was so suspenseful that I read it until I finished it at 5:00 am. Robert Crais has become my favorite author. I am recommending this book to friends.
Ho hum. Half way through it - not very compelling read. Same old "tough talking thugs", same old weak sobbing female, and same old young buck longing to rescue her.. I do not think I will finish it. I can barely stomach what I read so far.
Taken. A great action ride. I want to be buds with Joe Pike..... So far Pike and Cole have been a great team and each new book brings in another new character. Who will they cast as the characters when this saga comes to the big screen?
Taken. Great read. Could not put it down!
This is a thriller as good as it gets. I love Robert Crais. His novels are reliably entertaining, and Taken may be his best. It was a pleasure to read. I wish his book tour came to Florida!
Taken. Nickname: John Smith 2. A great book . Very interesting to the end. Great drama!
Crais does it again. Taken was absolutely first rate. Hated for it to end. Can't wait for the next one.
Loved it. Why do the Elvis Cole / Joe Pike books have to end! I always want them to continue a few more chapters!
Taken. Crais has created another wonderful adventure! It is not only well paced, but brings to light the dark side of human trafficking. It is more than a novel, it is a social statement.
Taken. One of his best !!!
Diner house steak. Good and satisfying, but not overwhelming.
I enjoyed this book very much. I don't read very many actiony sort of military kind of books but this one sounded interesting and I'm glad to have read it.
Rip Off. A complete rip off from the movie Taken released in 1999. Can't believe it's not getting any credit from the author.
Another great read!. I have to wait for the new book, then when I get it I don't want it to end! Robert Crais just keeps getting better and better. Never does he disappoint! Thoroughly addicted and loving it! Thank you
The Best of All!. The best book out of all the Joe Pike/Elvis Cole series! Loved it immensely . . didn't want it to end!
Taken. It was a good quick read. Kept me entertained. Just wanted a little more it the end.
Outstanding. Highly recommended!. I have read all of the Elvis Cole books. Love them all, but this is probably the best. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
Sometimes it takes a village to rescue a child.. Elvis Cole, the world’s greatest detective gets a job from a frantic mother. Her college aged daughter is missing along with her drop-out boyfriend. Cole takes the job, but the trail of the young lovers disappears in the desert. What Cole does find, a pit filled with decomposing bodies. After ascertaining that none are the object of his search, Cole calls in the posse’, Pike and Stone. To say any more would be considered a spoiler. So let me wrap it up by saying if you like Elvis Cole and his cat, this read won’t disappoint.
Excellent read. I've read every book since The Monkey's Raincoat and this one is one of the best. Finally no mention of the LA broad and his knowledge of the inside workings of the drug cartels is incredible. One of the best!
Taken. Absolutely loved this book! This is the first book I have read by this author. Can't wait to read another!
Taken. Never loses your interest...keeps you up all night . . . . Get an early start on this one!!!!
Never fails me...... Thanks again for putting out a great book....I am a forever fan!

Taken. Was disappointed with this one.. I usually cannot put Robert Crais books down but this one just did not do it for me....
Taken. Couldn't put it down
Taken. Once I started reading I never put it down. Read it in one sitting. Riveting.
