A mysterious island.

 An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.
It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

“A tense, moving, and wondrously strange first novel. The photographs and text work together brilliantly to create an unforgettable story.”—John Green, New York Times best-selling author of The Fault in Our Stars

“With its X-Men: First Class-meets-time-travel story line, David Lynchian imagery, and rich, eerie detail, it’s no wonder Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has been snapped up by Twentieth Century Fox. B+”—Entertainment Weekly

“‘Peculiar’ doesn’t even begin to cover it. Riggs’ chilling, wondrous novel is already headed to the movies.”—People

“You’ll love it if you want a good thriller for the summer. It’s a mystery, and you’ll race to solve it before Jacob figures it out for himself.”—Seventeen

Hello, Ransom!. Ransom, you have created a real work of art, and I’m proud to be your friend. It was so fun hearing your ideas, and I loved your imagination! You’ve met every expectation! Thanks for being a friend of mine!

👍🏻 oh yeah. :)

Awesome Book. Extremely creative concept with great descriptions and plot, would definitely recommend reading the entire trilogy.

Out of this time!!!. This book is absolutely amazing!!!!! I have never read anything like it! You should definitely read it!!!

A dream. This book series feels like it was plucked from my childhood dreams. Dark and beautiful and powerful. In love.

Uh... Ok.... It's a strange story. But to be honest, who else besides Ransom Riggs could've conjured up such a haunting tale? It is slow to get going, but once it does your on a train that doesn't go backward. I don't usually like stories like this, but I fell in love with the characters. Olive was one of my favorites, how they had to make sure she didn't float away! I also love how the story is told through Jake's perspective. It makes him seem real, it makes everything around him seem real. I'm still deciding if he's insane or if it's really happening though...

Very Fun Fantasy Novel. If you’re a fantasy fan you’ll love this book. I enjoyed, even as a non-fantasy fan. Really well written and interesting story.

Amazingly written. My compliments to the author, Ransom, for writing an outstanding story of sci-fi and time travel, mixed together with a bit of mystery and fantasy, splashed with a love story. It's a story that you will soon not forget, and continue to come back for more!!! Highly recommend this book and the rest in the series.

YESSS. I’m 13 and when I say I’m obsessed with books,IM OBSESSED WITH BOOKS❤️They are so beautifully written!I loved the book and movie💞My bookshelf is overflowing....oops!Im also obsessed with writing!Ugh it’s just so fun!

Awesome. This book is really interesting, but there was a lot of cussing -BookBrynn

LOVED IT!!!. Such an engaging story. I couldn't put it down. I haven't seen the movie, but I kinda did. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! LOVED IT!!! Ready for the next one.

A Fun Escape From Reality. Enjoyed this title from beginning to end. Great character development and a fantastical story conspired to guide the reader through magical world. Sometimes scary, sometimes childish, always a lot of fun.

Amazing. Has amazing storyline, still shocked Portman died that quick in the story😧

You Won’t Be Dissapointed. I read this for school and it was impossible to put down! The photographs not only grab your attention but clarify the complicated and quick plot, and they allow your imagery to be exactly like the author’s. Fantasy is not one of my favorite genres, but this book combines it with mystery and some horror as well to create a unique read that can draw in various crowds. I’m also not a fan of demonic or dark magic elements, but this book pleasantly surprised me by making the characters light hearted and lovable. It also sparks an anger for the opposition and makes you want to side with the wards and Jacob. In my top five reads for sure!

Best Book Ever. I love this book so much. It is full of surprises and it is amazing

GOOD. I’m currently writing a book and it’s really good but this is even better not recommended if you or your parents don’t want you to read books with a lot of cuss words.

I love it. I watched the movie an read the book both of them are AMAZING!! I really hope there are more books like this one I love this!

LOVED IT. There are no words that describe how much I love it!!!!💙💙💙💙💙

Very good, confusing ending. This book was very interesting. Throughout reading it made me get excited for the ending but as I got closer I got more and more confused. The ending was disappointing, I thought it would be more than what it was. But overall it was a good book, I won’t be reading the others though.

AWESOME. I am 10 but love reading and this is a great example of a page turner! I read all generes but not usually fantasy but this book has a big exception! It blends fantastic fantasy characters with problems and emotions resulting in a great book! There are no parts I remember where I was trying to put down the book! The series is really great and I really recommend it to people who don’t usually read fantasy but wanna give it a try.

Entertaining Read!. I purchased this book a couple months ago once the movie came out. While I never watched the movie, I read the book to satisfy my curiosity. Good read- I liked that it was well-paced (which is hard to find in books these days!) Good book for YA readers. I enjoyed reading it.

Book 📖 and Movie 🎥. Both of them are good

So Cool!. I never bought the online version but the book is really good and I recommend reading it!

Loved It!. This book kept me interested till the very last page. It was amazing and dark. I wouldn't say it was scary, but intense.

Not Surprised that Tim Burton made this film. This book is terrible. It is basically a Tim Burton vision of the X-men with some black and white photographs sprinkled throughout the book. The author is apparently in a deep, committed relationship with his thesaurus. However, he should should have been seeing a Holt Handbook on the side. There are several issues with grammar and just plain bad writing style. I hated this book. My teenaged kids hated this book. I lent it to a friend, and she hated this book. Just watch the boring movie and save a tree.

Great book!. I had to read this book for an 8th grade summer book report, and I originally thought that I wouldn’t like this book because it is kinda scary, but it surprised me when I read it and actually enjoyed it! I was so surprised to hear that the pictures were real and that they weren’t staged. I so excited to read the next book, “hollow city” that I just can’t wait to buy it! I recommend this book to every single person on this planet!!! ~Carson Waida

Didn’t read but loved the movie. I didn’t read the book but the movie was amazing.

Unexpected. unexpected gem, would reccomend

Unique premise that will steal your heart. The House in the Cerulean Sea + Back to the Future + Groundhog Day + The Diary of Anne Frank Jacob Portman grew up listening to his grandfather’s stories. Some were horrific, with his family being hunted by the Nazis. Some were fantastical, like the island of peculiar children where he went when he was saved. Peculiar, like the boy that had bees living inside of him. All had pictures to go with it. As he grows up, Jacob starts to think the photos are doctored and the stories are just stories. What will it take for him to believe? I hear people use the phrase “felt like I was coming home” a lot. That’s the best way I can describe a lot of the books I reread. There’s something so comforting about the book--from the cover to the characters, and in this book, the photos. If you go to Ransom’s IG, he did a fantabulous live last Friday, where he gave us the original ideas (it was originally going to be an illustrated poetry book, like Amphigorey). Again, I can’t praise this book enough. Not only are the characters and world extremely well-fleshed out, but Ransom has done a totally unique thing by shaping his story around old vintage photos he found. I’m extremely sad that just as I’m coming back to the series, the final book comes out next month. Buy this book for yourself or someone looking to get lost in time. If you’re twisted, get it for someone who says pictures are for kids’ books.

Love this Book!. I read it quite a few times. For myself, then with my husband and children. It’s a page turner. And an amazing story with History, time travel, odd and delightful characters. You can’t help but get sucked into the Peculiar world!

Meh.... The idea is original, I'll give it that, but the actual story is a mess and such a chore to get through.

Totally enjoyed. I really liked this one. It was different from a lot of the YA that I’ve read. It kind of put me in the mind of Percy Jackson at the very beginning, but it is a bit more mature. It has mystery, time travel, monsters, children with unusual powers and a gothic-like feeling. Most of my friends seem to have strong feelings of either love or hate for it, so it’s one of those you just have to check out for yourself.

WOW. Just started this today. I'm stunned at how good this is. May not be The Lord of the Rings, but I feel the same way with this book that I felt with LOTR... FIVE DECADES AGO. If that doesn't get you to buy it, you only have yourself to blame.

Um. Um I'm only eight years old

Absolutely incredible!. A real page-turner! I love far-out, unpredictable, stuff like this. This series truly takes out out of this world and into another!

Awesome Book!!!!. This book has everything. Action, Mystery, Romance, Horror, Etc. all in one book. I could not put this book down.

Good book. Very interesting. Loved it

Loved it👌. I couldn’t get enough of it and got so into it the second I started reading the books.

Brilliant, Compelling, Excellent, Fascinating, Unique, and Well Done. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is a amazing novel with a strong message, to embrace your uniqueness. Not only that, but, all its characters and their abilities are phenomenal (with Hugh and Fiona Being my Favorites). And its storyline based on old photographs is remarkable. The time loops, the hollowgasts, the setting, the plot, the drama, the twists, the romance all works well together. A must read for any age. I would recommend this book to anyone. -Bill Simpson

Whimsical and attention grabbing. I loved the characters and abilities in this series I’m on my second read through and had to express my joy of the characters and story

Miss. Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. This book is the best book I have ever read!!!!! It took me about one week to finish it. I now am quite jealous of Jacob because he gets to spend time with these wonderful children. I have never given five stars to a book before, and I think I will only give five stars to the books in these series. My only complaint might be that it ended in a weird place. Why would it end where the children and Miss. Peregrine are in rowboats on an ocean where there are battleships? I don’t understand because a place with a bigger cliffhanger would be when they got to where their destination was. But otherwise, it was an amazing book, and I can’t emphasize that enough. So thank you for making this book and pleasing my soul.

Outstanding book. Book has a outstanding plot. Pictures express the peculiar children

Loved it. Great read - funny and quirky but still creepy. Very original, too, and the combination of the photos and the storyline is so interesting and pulls this book away from the stereotypical reading experience.

Loved it. This book was great! I couldn't put it down.

Nice. Didn’t hit me like other books have, but still good. Would recommend but still not my favorite.

Okay. This book wasn't bad, but I would characterize it as mildly entertaining. It was incredibly slow until about three quarters through, and at times it felt like I had too many questions and not enough answers. The protagonist felt almost dull and wasn't quite likable, yet not unlivable. I quite liked the use of old photographs and the American Horror Story vibe. I won't be picking up the next book though.

Love it. ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️😎

Loved it. Loved it! The Hunger Games is better. Still great book. I love how his parents are like,” Your friends are FAKE!” Then Jacob is like,”PSYCH!” And his friends show up. Then his dad thinks he is dreaming. Good try Jacob, good try.

Great read for young audiences!!. Would definitely recommend this book 😃

!!. I first saw the movie and thought it was awsome... And decided to read the book. I am soooooooo glad I did!!!!!! I loved it from start to finish! And I can't wait to read the second book!!

Hard to get into. Thought I would love and tried so hard to get into the story but it just didn’t work at all. Not for people who need quick plot twists or something to happen early in

Amazing!. This book is absolutely encapsulating, I was hooked from the very first page and left wanting more on the very last page. Cannot recommend enough!

????. Autio please

Cool but long. Cool but it takes 5 chapter before he discovers the house or particuliar children

Good book, scary illustrations(photos). I bought the book after watching the movie. Haven't finished yet, but it seems quite interesting so far. The only problem is, though to many it may not be a problem, that I expected it to be more like a children's book and then got scared the hell out of me by the creepy photos in it (the ones you see at the beginning of the movie)
