Rule #3: Eat protein at every meal, making some kind of fish your go-to protein as often as you can. Take your weight and divide it by two—that’s more or less how much protein you should be eating in grams every day.
 
Rule #15: Eat at least ten meals a week at home (and cook them yourself). Restaurant portions are usually 40 to 50 percent bigger than what you’d serve at home—the more you eat out, the more you overeat. Set yourself up for success by preparing my turkey meatballs, hummus, and roasted vegetables on the weekend so that you will have go-to staples and no excuses!
 
Rule #18: Go to bed slightly hungry. Denied fuel for more than five hours, your body will start burning its own fat and sugar. Make a point not to eat after dinner and you’ll be burning fat while you’re sleeping.
 
Rule #20: Enjoy a splurge meal once a week. Unlike episodic bingeing, splurge meals are an ingredient in your diet. When you plan something, you are in control.

Great book but last page of each chapter is missing. I am enjoying this book and feel I will get a lot out of it. However, at just about the last page of every chapter the page prior is duplicated. Kind of hard to rate 5 stars when it cannot be read in its entirety. Makes me wish I would have bought the book hardcover instead of through iTunes.

The Skinny Rules. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Even if you normally eat healthy and have your own rules , follow these rules, Bob has some rules that I'm sure will help you.

The skinny rules. Bob's the best, no frills, just do it, clear advice. I'm very motivated to stop the soda intake, drink the water, good grains, fruits every day, eat eggs/protein, and be healthy! (I love his yoga for weight lose too)!

No sugar coatings. I have read many books on weight loss and have lost interest by the second chapter. Skinny Rules tells it like it is and why,with no exceptions. Great Book

Commonsense nutrition. I love this book. I have a degree in Kinesiology and have done plenty of my own research on nutrition. The rules are completely inline with everything else that I have read. The meal plans are great! This is the first nutrition plan I have been on where I feel full after every meal and stay satisfied for 4-6 hours. I would recommend this to anyone as a guidebook to healthy eating. This is a diet you can stay on indefinitely because it is commonsense nutrition and portion control, not deprivation.

Ed Garren, MFT. This book really clears away the confusion, explains the science, the body chemistry, and offers a framework to change one's relationship with food. I'm enjoying it immensely, and have already started losing weight, my first week. I'm very pleased with it, and recommending it to anyone who is ready to drop some pounds.

Repeated information. I'd already purchased The Skinny Meals and wish I'd realized it would be much the same as found in The Skinny Rules. $14.99 spent for quite a bit of some word-for-word duplication.

Loved it. Loved it...couldn't put it down. That seems like an odd statement for a weight loss book. As you progress through the book you are thinking 'I can do this', what's next. Rules are clear, concise and reasonable. I intend to put these rules to practice, change the way I eat and think about food. Armed with all the knowledge I need, I can start my journey to permanent weight loss. Thank You Bob Harper for writing this book. I truly believe you will reach many and save many from a life style of obesity.

I'm glad I bought this book!. It talks a lot about what to eat and what not to eat in a very convincing manner! I'm glad I read the book. I have changed my eating style step by step with the book, naturally just by reading the book and I never want to go back to the old habits. It's great, and the information it contains are priceless!

Wow.... I was alarmed at my weight gain & downloaded this book. I read through it in one night. The next day I began following the rules. Two days later I had burned off 2 pounds. So simple. I just eat according to the menus & cook at home. It does require prep the night before, but BH shows you how to make it easier with one day of prep a week. I will weigh myself in again tomorrow. I am starting to feel hopeful about regaining my health. If I get under 250 I can start using my Nordictrak skier. The food is yummy & easy to make. I long to feel well again.

I love Bob!. I have lost the same 30 lbs about the same number of times. I work out hard and watch what I eat, but then go back to old habits. So, I was looking to increase my knowledge and try to form new habits. I think this book is a great start. Simple enough principles told in an easy, free flowing style. You can almost hear Bob saying some of these rules to BL contestants. Whether you are a novice in the weight loss world or someone who knows it all, I think this is a good fit. I start living by his rules tomorrow! Good luck to you!

Amazing. Worth reading and doing. I have lost 6 lbs in a week and a half from doing Jumpstart to Skinny and this book I am feeling so much better about my body and the things I'm cooking. Great rules and recipes, I know others who follow this will be thankful they did because its amazing what eating clean will do for your body.

Great book. In one day I read this book! Very easy to read. I have several food allergies and Celiac disease and I can still modify and do this diet. As I lay in bed starving, I'm hoping this book will change my life :-)

Great Book!. Extremely informative!!

Not practical. If you live in a household with 2 working adults and children, don't bother reading this. No normal person has enough time to pull off the food prep required here.

The Skinny Rules. Great back-story on how the book came to be. Great, straightforward rules. Great receipes. Somehow this makes all the guidelines about losing weight "new" again and inspires "possibilities" that you just might be able to WIN the battle of the bulge!

Great place to start. This book is about eating to lose weight. Well written and well organised, with recipes. As I was reading this book, I could hear Bob Harper as if he were talking to a friend. If you do not know where to look for information on eating right and well, this is an excellent place to start. Then, add in exercising. I will recommend to a friend.

Loved it, simple no nonsense!. I just bought this for the new me. I've been overweight most of my life and I don't want to be anymore. Bobs rules make sense and seem like they are ok to follow. The meal plan and recipes seem do able. Overall encouraging. Can't wait to start!

Good, easy read and to follow. Overall good, if not great (least for me). The book is basically broken down in three parts; 1st "rules" and big picture overview. 2nd meal plans. 3rd recipes. The first section was my favorite. Providing easy to follow rules, how and why they work and suggestions for following. The other two sections while interesting, I use more as examples of the first section. I've never been one for strict "eat exactly this" type guy (and yes I've lost a lot of weight and much better shape eating regular foods). But the overall idea certainly helped me, re-focus and reinforced some things. And if you are a person struggling and don't know how to start, this book would be a good place to start. Good in that it can be done step by step, but also tells you the why's so you are gaining education. And education in health management (not just weight loss, but overall health) is like education in anything else. It is power. It is giving you tools to take action. I'm more looking to lose that last 10 lbs and fine tune my exercise and food intake (I refuse to use the term "diet"). So while beneficial, I would have like a little more of "next steps". To be clear, you get exactly what the description of the books says. And is well written and easy to read. Overall recommended.

No-Nonsense Results. Prior to finding this book at my library, I'd been bombarded by weight loss commercials, programs & other diet books. Nothing gave me what I was looking for until Bob decluttered everything. Following these rules, I lost 55 pounds over the span of two years. Now that I'm coming out of the weight loss mentality, I'd like to say thanks Bob! If you're tired of getting misinformed & receiving too many opinions, turn to this book-you can't go wrong. It really is a lifestyle transformation.

Great advice. The rules make sense. I follow some but not all of them. The book has inspired me to improve on the ones I'm not really following. So many good ideas on what to eat and methods to make it convenient and encourage success. Buy the book! You won't regret it.

Decluttered Info!. Bob breaks it down. Do this and get skinny. What more could you ask for?

Most balanced diet book I've read!. I've read a lot of diet books and really struggled with the right place between veganism and main stream diet trends. 'The Skinny Rules' creates a reasonable space between vegetarianism and the standard American diet. Bob's easy-to-follow rules (and explanation) make a great lifestyle template for people of all weights.

The Skinny Rules. I have been a "career dieter" for most of my 49 years. And I have seen and heard some very good advice in this book. Having seen some crazy fad diets I think this eating life style will be wonderful. I will do some tweaking as I have Celiac disease, but for the most part this is a doable life style. I'm excited to get started.
