1987. The only person who has ever truly understood fourteen-year-old June Elbus is her uncle, the renowned painter Finn Weiss. Shy at school and distant from her older sister, June can be herself only in Finn’s company; he is her godfather, confidant, and best friend. So when he dies, far too young, of a mysterious illness her mother can barely speak about, June’s world is turned upside down.

But Finn’s death brings a surprise acquaintance into June’s life. At the funeral, June notices a strange man lingering just beyond the crowd. A few days later, she receives a package in the mail containing a beautiful teapot she recognizes from Finn’s apartment, and a note from Toby, the stranger, asking for an opportunity to meet. As the two begin to spend time together, June realizes she’s not the only one who misses Finn, and that this unexpected friend just might be the one she needs the most.

Fantastic read. Devoured (pun intended) "Wolves" in less than a day. Very unique story, wonderful narrative, and deeply touching without being sappy or maudlin. A great read about the complexities of the different types of love encountered in a life time.

Such an inspiring and beautiful read.. Not since reading The Fault In Our Stars by John Green have I felt that an author has captured the voice of a teenager trying to figure out life among death and love and heartbreak. I absolutely loved this book and the writing style. So many of the passages hit me right in the gut. I would highly recommend this read, especially for anyone who has ever felt alone and alienated in their pain and grief.

Great words that made a great read.. Love this book and I look forward to more. Perfect title "Tell the Wolves I'm Home"

Full of soul. This novel is beautiful; everything about it was beautiful, and I didn't want it to end. I wish the other members of my book club would let us discuss it before then because I feel the urgency to express the beauty that this novel holds.

Incredible. An incredibly touching and meaningful book. The characters are meaningful and fully realized. Do not miss this one!!!

Tell the Wolves I'm Home. This is a wonderful story with familial relationships that are at once confusing & beautiful. The narrator is a 13-year old girl who is captivating, envious & naive. I couldn't put it down. I love that title!!

A treat. It's not often I love a book as much as I loved this one.

Awestruck by this first time writer!. Am in the process of reading and had to comment on how great it is and how I can't wait to read more! The characters are so raw with true emotion and life! The 80's setting is great and takes me back to my teen years and how things are much the same yet startling different in regards to our thoughts on AIDS. Great read for all!

I read this in 24 hours!. While sleeping all night. & working half a day! I could not peel myself away. Characters are so real, family roles & bittersweet love all combine for a beautiful and strong story that won't fade from my mind for quite some time.

A good coming of age story. I enjoyed this book. The plot and the characters are compelling and I looked forward to picking it up every night before bed. The tone is a little foreboding throughout, but I suppose that's partly due to the subject matter. A good story told from the POV of a 14 yr old protagonist who is a bit of an outsider.

Outstanding and Touching. This book touched my heart and soul. The characters are well developed and there are things you love and despise about them. I wonder what happens from here....

Family and Gay Couples. It’s heartbreaking but good. There are turns and unexpected twists that are well placed and not suspected. Nice writing. The main characters have changes over time.

Caring. This book was delicate and sensitive from a teenagers point of view, I just wish that more adults were as caring. Totally enjoyable.

Great read. What a fabulous book. Really takes you back to the 80's and the onset of AIDS epidemic but in such a brilliantly and subtlety written way. Characters are so detailed and interesting. Highly recommend this book!

Tell the Wolves I'm Home. The book had me totally engrossed until the last couple chapters. At that point the story becomes unrealistic and parts of it are somewhat ridiculous . I hate it when that happens at the end of a book-annoying! I still enjoyed it and like the way it was written for the most part.

Layers. Love the eighties setting for this novel. Reminds us of the attitudes and beliefs about AIDS 30 years ago. Research has changed so many people's lives in those years - maybe even cured the disease (the Berlin patient)! Additionally, the idea of each character adding something of their own to the painting is a beautiful element. It literally creates layers on the portrait that add so much depth to the storyline. I loved the human relationships the author thoroughly develops. No thread is left untied. It is a satisfying novel.

Great book. Overall loved the book and the roller coaster of emotions it took me on. Insightful and a satisfying amount of depth. The ending didn't leave me wanting more from the story; very well written.

tell the wolves i'm home. The recommendation came from an airline magazine. It took me two months to read it; it is the kind of book you can put down. Had to keep telling myself to finish the dizzy thing; I paid $11.99 for the thing, hoping praying it would get better. Never did, truly one of the lamest books I have ever read && only the 2nd e-book I have bought.==

Wonderful. This was by far one of the best books I've read and I read all the time. The characters are well developed and thoughtful, ones I will remember. I think that's one of the best things an author can do - characters that touch your soul and make you remember them. This is that author, and this is that book.

Best read in awhile. I enjoyed reading this book more than I expected. It is heart warming, life affirming and a lot of fun in and odd way. I look forward to following the writer in the years to follow.

Wonderful. It's been so long since I've read a beautifully written book I forgot they existed. It felt great to once again be immersed in a story and it's characters. It made me run the gamut of emotions and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Tell the Wolves I'm Home. A gripping portrait of sadness at loss, coming of age in the time of the AIDS crisis and love.

Completely Awesome!. Couldn't put it down! Literary instant classic.

Amazing. Profound and honest.

Tell the wolves I'm home. I really did enjoy reading this book, but many of the incidents in the book are not realistic. Some that have promise have not been properly developed. Also, one very irritating situation is that the last two pages of every chapter in the book repeat, but omit the final paragraphs! So you have to use your imagination as to how the author finishes her thought. Let's fix this IBook.

Tell the Wolves I'm Home. I read this book in 4 hours. Devoured it. It has been YEARS since I've loved a book so much. Fabulous writing. I can't recall the last time anything has touched me so much. I feel so blessed to have stumbled onto this book. Brava.

Heart wrenching, kind and profound. A masterpiece!. I am a 58 year old union lawyer and power lifter and I cried throughout this wonderful novel. I cannot remember reading a more profound and beautiful story that was so sad and so wonderfully uplifting at the same time. Following June's journey as the layers of her relationships with her beloved Uncle, his devoted lover and her estranged sister are built upon each other was a wonder, an enchanting mystery, a sensitive and beautiful honor to be welcomed into. Read this novel and share it with everyone you love.

Touching. The last time I cried this much was when I saw Titanic for the first time in 1998! Definitely on my top three list.
