Insurgent fell short for this reader..... I read this in time for the movie release later this week. I'm glad I finished it but it wasn't without me wanting to pull my hair out at times. I didn't hate it but didn't exactly like it either. The story felt forced to me. The character development was pretty good in Divergent but with Insurgent picking up where Divergent left off, the conflict between Tris and Four made little sense to me. I appreciated the direction the story was going but I was wishing Tris and Four's blossoming relationship to be a soft place to land as a reader. I didn't get that from them. I also thought that the final moments for Jeanine were too abrupt. For someone hell-bent on absolute rule and the destruction of the Divergent, I wished there was more of a struggle there. I love to see the bad guy suffer before his/her demise. Because of my attitude toward this book, I will stop reading here and finish the series with the movie version of Allegiant.

Wow!. I loved Divergent! Roth had me intrigued until the very last word. I didn't think that the series could get any better until I read Insurgent. A thrilling ride from beginning to end, and also eye-opening to reality. I thought this series was going to be some cheap Hunger Games copy, but I was surprised at how different they are. Hats off to Veronica Roth and her amazing work!

Action packed and will leave you on the edge of your seat. This is a very good book and I think this is actually better than the hunger games series. This is an amazing movie by the way and I just love this book; you should really read it.😜🤗💩

YES. Many think that the second book of a series isnt good but i loved it. Tris is amazing, the poor girls parents both died on the same day but thanks to her wonderful boyfriend Tobias she made it. Jeanine Matthews is turning into this stalker/creepy/mad scientist who wont leave that poor Tris alone, Tris was so brave the whole book, and the ending was like OH MY GOSH I NEED TO READ BOOK 3!!! Just read it.

Great!. I enjoyed reading Insurgent (mostly because of how Tris continues to live and love Tobias) I really liked this book, but was a little bit upset that they had to go in a full on war. I thought that part was unnecessary until you actually understood the books plot and what it leads to....which is Alliegiant. 😫😫😫. Good plot, and excellently well done.

So amazing. So I’ve read the whole series and Divergent and Insurgent are by FAR the best. These two are so amazing and Tris and Tobias make me smile so much 😍. Then they have the action packed life or death parts that leave you on the edge of your seat thinking will this be it? But it never is because main characters aren’t supposed to die (cough Allegiant cough) definitely the best book series I’ve read in a long while. My advice though, skip the last five chapters and the epilogue of Allegiant because the ending of that book is legit trash. I love everything else about the series though and this is a must read.

FAV OF ALL TIMES. Divergent was so good and exciting that I had too read the sequel to it and I don't regret it I absolutely love Veronica and here book so recommend it ☺️

LOVE IT. I adore the first book and so far the second is amazing too! I was really upset with Will dying and I really want Tris to tell Tobias what she did. Also I loved the little sexy sene in the bed they had together in chapter 10. Great book! I’m excited 4 the next!

Insurgent. Insurgent is a movie and book. I like how it's a series. It is interesting because u don't know what's going to happen next and if she will be. Killed.she is inspiring to me because she is so brave. I can't wait till the new movie come out 😁😁😩

Insurgent. Literally sucked. Would've given it one star but I'm saving that for Allegiant. Not one character seemed to grow. Everything was static and is it just me or were all the characters super whiny? Loved the first book. This is just a mediocre sequel.

Insurgent. This book is one of the most captivating books that I have read and also one of the most beautiful. It describes hardships, romance, and war in a way that leaves you begging for more. I'm not sure how the "Allegiant" will tie off the Divergent series, but I expect the best from Veronica Roth. I suggest this book to readers who indulge in bravery, sacrifice, and kindness in each of the characters. thank you Veronica I loved this book so much!

Good book! A must read if you already haven't :). Good follow up to the amazing Divergent book! This is a great series & Veronica Roth is super talented :) I would check out all 4 books from this series & the movies too! The soundtracks are also surprisingly really good as well! Especially the divergent one ;) 5/5 stars for this book & series in general!

Lost a little interest. Not as good as the first

The loss became a battle. After finish reading the first book,”Divergent”,I was hesitant of continuing this series. But, I did after all and don’t regret my decision. This, in my opinion, was better than the second. It had more anticipation and action. And-of course-a trail of romance. But, in between it contained a series of emotions that seemed so realistic, so much that I even cried a river of tears. The grief, guilt, and regret weaved the book so perfectly. And if you were like me, indecisive of going forward with the series, please give it a chance. You’re future self will thank you, even if Tris’ emotions hit hard. - From a TMR fan Btw, give The Maze Runner a chance too!!

Skipped but awesome. I didn't read the book so I wouldn't spoil the movie but I did read the first one and was wondering why I t didn't connect with the movie...if I read this then when I watch the movie it would give me something totally unexpected just saying it was a good surprise

I love insurgent❤️.. I can't seem to get enough of Veronica Roth's fascinating stories. She is a truly gifted writer. "Divergent" was a really good book, and "Insurgent" was very well also. I'm am now in the process of reading "Allegiant" which is exceptionally good so far. I've brought all seven of the books that are with in the "Divergent series", which contain "Divergent", "Insurgent" , and "Allegiant". And then all four of the "four" stories which include, "Four: the initiate" , Four: the transfer , "Four: the son" ' and the last book four: the traitor. I would recommend these books to anyone who likes things such as The hunger games trilogy or the maze runner series. VERONICA ROTH IS AMAZING!

Cute. I read this with my boyfriend is was really cute I think his Tobias bc I think he’s hot. It’s a older kids book but it’s nice to make my asexual friend suffer:)

Wow. Ok. So it took me a bit longer to finish this book than its previous books. I blame vacation. While I give this book five stars, I definitely enjoyed Divergent more. Insurgent is full of a lot of angst between Tobias and Tris. There is a huge uproar in the Erudite taking control of all the factions. Not to mention Evelyn with the factionless trying to overthrow the Erudite. There was a lot going on here and the ending has left me like, uhhhh what?! I'm just glad I didn't have to wait for the last book like a lot of people had to do. It's a major cliffhanger ending and it is somewhat what I expected the "top secret" information to be. I'll be interested to see how Roth wraps this up!

AMAZING!!!. Personally I think the divergent series is for all ages! It's has a bit of everything, action,thriller,and romance. Divergent series is the best books I have read in my entire life and is far better than the hunger games!

Beautifully Written. Insurgent was a fantastic novel, filled with passionate and heartbreaking scenes. Veronica Roth really did an excellent job writing this book. Its a must have!

Favourite Book. Insurgent was by and far my favourite book in the Divergent Trilogy. Although I liked Divergent, I didn't really 'connect' with the characters or the story. However, I completely fell in love with Tris' character in Insurgent, and the underlying story progressed in such an interesting way. Insurgent was also a brilliant gate-way into Allegiant. I finally felt like one of the characters and was completely drawn into their world. A great trilogy overall!

What a great series. I finished Divergent in a couple of days and bought this one which i read in one day. I honestly couldn’t put it down. I am looking forward to the series coming out at box office. Make sure you don’t have anything planned for the day… you won’t stop reading :)

Worst. Book. Ever. I speak on behalf of the girls in my grade, we all couldn't go on. It was so hard to read since it was so boring! We didn't find a reason to continue. It was like a battle between our drooping eyelids and our uninterested blank brain and our promise to each book to finish it to the end. Once again. The worst and uninteresting book we've ever read.

BEST. BOOK. SERIES. EVER!. As much as I loved the hunger games, or twilight, this book series is the new MUST READ for the whole world. The first book in the series, Divergent, is an excellent written book, and had me up all night reading. (no joke) Insurgent is also a great written book that left the readers sitting on the edge of their chair and hungry for more. In my opinion, this book could very likely end up more popular than the hunger games. I hope you find this review helpful and will take my advice on buying this book. You will love it. P.S. They are making Divergent into a movie. Can't wait! :-)

It was so-so. Compared to the first book in this series, Insurgent seemed like a plain, boring story that seemed to drag on forever. However, it was not entirely bad.

Divergent. Couldn't put it down

Depressing and Dispiriting. This trilogy is a needlessly negative and dispiriting ride through a bleak landscape, with nothing to look forward to at the end of the journey. Think twice before embarking - you are likely to be disappointed. Overall, I would place these books in the "pointless pathos" category - unnecessarily maudlin and violent, while lacking any genuine overall redeeming value. There are some well-written passages and thought-provoking concepts (especially for the younger set) but in the end the entire trilogy gives the impression of being rather disjointed and patched together. A special note to Teens: singing the praises of this series merely makes you look immature and unsophisticated. I would definitely not pay again for this ride, particularly if it emerges in the form of a grimly grotesque movie series.

Mixed feelings. Starts off strong, fizzles out in the middle and has a strong ending.. My OVERALL impression was only "okay". I wanted to love it because Divergent was so good. I loved the 1st half of the book but then, towards the middle, it got kinda iffy for me (good scenes were cut too short, seemed choppy, useless/repetitive scenes were long & drawn out, too much going on without enough detail or description to really get into each situation). The characters, whom I loved, started to annoy me. Thankfully, towards the end it got really good again (the perfect balance of character interaction, action, story development). My curiosity & hope got me through to the end. I'm glad I made it to the end because the ending was better. I've heard that Allegiant is better with very divided opinions about the end (love or hate it). Insurgent reminded me a lot of "Mockingjay", the 3rd book in the "Hunger Games" trilogy in that the general feel of this book is more about political scheming, revolution and warfare. Divergent was more about human emotions, values & relationships. Insurgent starts off with a strong emotional pull towards Tris & Tobias but then the rest of the book dulls them out when their relationship SHOULD be getting more & more intense as the story progresses. Was the author was getting tired of describing their relationship midway into the book? The first half of Insurgent is really good & deals a lot with the aftermath of what happens in Divergent, on an emotional & psychological level but then all goes numb after that. The second half of the book is all about plots & fighting. Insurgent is very unbalanced in the way it is told and is lacking depth. It's almost as though the author was having trouble getting sufficient material down to get a decent amount of pages written. Technical stuff: Teen/YA dystopian. Violence, weaponry, warfare (there is no sex). I read at an average speed and it took me 12 hours to read Insurgent. Book 2 of 3 with add-on novellas.

Winner Winner.. Spectacular read. Kept me interested and entertained. Veronica Roth's books never fail to impress myself and many other readers.

TRIS AND TOBIAS. This book was even better than the last. the angst in this book was so sad, but it was so well written. I felt like Tris was completely valid in many parts, because Tobias was just not listening to her. But I also understood his point of view and that Tris wasn’t listening to him. The deleted break up scene was so sad, and I’m glad it was removed because I don’t think I would be able to read it. The plot was really interesting with the book, and now that Jeanine is dead I’m curious to see what’s going to happen. I’m glad in the next book we get Tobias pov because I would live to see what he is thinking all the time. So much will happen in the next book, and I can’t wait.

Hated the end... Is there a book 3?. --

Not bad. This book was a bit slower than divergent but still alright. Not much character development but as many of the characters were in divergent it wasn't as important. Good look into post traumatic stress and how individuals react with things that are so far beyond their normal emotional scope. I'll still read the final in the trilogy but now I'm not nearly as excited about it as I was for this one.

Waiting for next book. Honestly, that was like asdfghhjjll- amazing when is the next book coming out :(
