A Modern Classic. I would give this book three stars if it didn't have such an impact on popular culture worldwide. It's very short and easy to get through, which is good, but in my opinion, the plot doesn't thicken nearly as much as it could've. It was an average read for me, but such an esteemed author and historic story merit an extra (fourth) star.

Captivating!. This is a stellar book. The plot is constantly moving forward and is a delightful read. A true page turner! Highly recommend!

The invisible Man. Nice quick read with lots of action. A change of pace having the main character being an antagonist more than a protagonist.

Classic. Classic and, thankfully, unlike the television show from years ago.

The Invisible Man. A Masterpiece anytime!

The Invisible Man. What can I say other than a true classic by a great novelist. A book every man, woman and child alike should read.

Great. A truly awesome read with fantastic characters an a brilliant story that's nothing like the films. My new favourite author!

Great little yarn. Exciting to the tragic end, Wells leaves you wanting more. One can't help feeling a little sorry for Griffin despite, or perhaps because of, his obvious insanity. One complaint would be that it's too short. If only someone would take up the challenge and write an official follow up, as Stephen Baxter did with "The Time Ships". Maybe someone has. Maybe I'll give it a go :) A great read, all the better for being "free classic"!

Good Stuff. I downloaded this book after recently re-watching the 1933 film after reading that it was quite different in parts. It is a very engaging read, I've always enjoyed H. G. Wells' style of writing and this continues in that vein. The only slight disappointments are that it didn't go on longer (although understandable in that it is a novelette), and the ending was a bit of a let down. I would've preferred it if somehow he'd managed to escape his captors at the end and struggle to safety. That way we would've been left with the notion that he could still be out there. Also I guess, the invisibility device is kind of a one trick situation. There's only so many times Griffin can poke someone, strike them or get involved in violent struggles. Anyway, I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a vast amount of time on their hands and wants a bit of science fiction without any spaceships or aliens! The fact that it's free should certainly help entice a few people too.

Brilliant little story. It's a pacey, surprising and well told story of a man who becomes invisible and all the troubles it gives him and others. Worth a read.

Ms. As gripping as the day it was written!

.. it's was terrible
