The Storm by Clive Cussler & Graham Brown Book Summary

When the incomplete invention of a genius environmentalist falls into the wrong hands, it’s the NUMA crew that will be the first casualties of war, and team leader Kurt Austin will stop at nothing to get justice for his fellow agents in this #1 New York Times-bestselling series.

In the middle of the Indian Ocean, a NUMA research vessel is taking water samples at sunset, when a crew member spots the familiar sheen of black oil ahead of them. But it is not oil. Like a horde of army ants, a swarm of black particles suddenly attacks the ship, killing everyone aboard, while the ship itself goes up in flames.

A few hours later, Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and other members of the NUMA Special Assignments Team are dispatched to check on their colleagues. They find no survivors, but the remains of a new technological marvel on the smoldering hulk of the ship point them towards a new adversary.

Knowing the victims makes this mission deeply personal for Austin and Zavala. They’ll uncover the scheme: an audacial plan to alter the weather on a global scale. They’ll find the technology that can make it happen: microrobots, originally designed to stave off polution. But what they may not learn in time is the face of their true enemy. And, on  assignment this close to the hearts and minds of the NUMA crew, the danger is likely to hit close to home.

Filled with the high-stakes suspense and boundless imagination that are unique to Cussler, The Storm is one of the most thrilling novels yet from the grand master of adventure.

Awful. Blah

The storm. Good book

Be Warned. Juvenile dialogue. Silly plotline. Characters named Dirk (he of rugged features) and Mustaffa (wasn't this one of Dr. Evil's henchmen?). Polynesian islanders in the West Indian Ocean? Need I say more? A total waste of $15.00.

A little simplistic. What I miss about this "author" seem to be all those little descriptive words called adjectives and adverbs that seem to draw the reader into the story, or to give me all those nuances that make things come to life. I know that Cussler had a sparse writing style himself, but the transition to a bevy of ghost writers hasn't worked. If he can no longer write himself, a more honest approach would have been to stop publishing. I will continue to read the books, but no longer care if I have a copy for my collection or not.

Redefining Excellent. Yet another Cussler novel that stays true to the personalities we've come to love along with a plot that doesn't let you down. Another page turner with perfectly mixed fact and science fiction! Thank you for another great read. On the the next Cussler favourite...

Awesome read!. I have enjoyed all of Mr. Cussler's books... And this one is no exception! Great story line and intense... All the way to the end!

Another great plot. CC continues with great plots which captivate and inspire the reader. The action is not as topsy-turvy as some of the classics, such as Cyclops.

Great read as always…. But WAY to many, “xxx like raccoons climbing a trash can.”, or” they xxxed like locust covering a wheat field”. Sometime two and three “like xxx” in the same paragraph. It was almost “like the authors were challenging each other”. Still and all, I’ve always enjoyed these books and look forward to my next one.

The Storm. Once again Cussler takes us on another adventure, even though it's not Dirk Pitt , I had a great time reading this book and look forward to our next Dirk Pitt adventure. I highly recommend this book good summer read.

The Storm. Alas, a very poor effort by Clive Cussler and nowhere close to the caliber of his recent Issac Bell books.

The Storm. Another exciting book....a great read!

The Storm. Should be a movie. Couldn't put it down.!

The Storm. As always, a great read from Clive.

The Storm. Didn't finish it was so bad!

The Storm. Another great Cussler adventure. Exciting from the start. Read it

Good read. One of Clive's better books. A great vacation book. I'm looking forward to the upcoming Dirk Pitt adventure!

The Storm. Almost mechanical writing and plotting. The miraculous saves, like the binoculars kept during the well drop of the two prisoners, was not to be believed. But what really sunk this for me was when one of the characters said that if Hoover Dam was sabotaged, Las Vegas would be flooded. Check your topography. The Colorado River flows over the dam southward. Las Vegas is north of Lake Mead. Las Vegas would not be impacted by such an event. Also, I think the depiction of females is trite and far from believable in this age. I have read most Clive Cussler books, but the credibility gap in this one is huge.

The Storm. This book is a waste of time & money

The Storm. An excellent read!
