Hard to read. Both the overall style and the brackets make it difficult.

Evil racist anti-semitic book. A lot of bad words for people who don't follow Islam. This book is against everything that has critical thinking. The author of this book is a demented person, manipulating the illiterate people into killing, plunder and submission. This book is the enemy of freedom of speech. Poor are the people who believe in the garbage words that are written here.

Horrible!. Horrible!

Blasphamy. A translation of such a pious book, by corruption through the translators own thoughts being inserted brackets, is something that is not worth the time reading.

Radicalized writings. People are saying this is a true translated version, if it is then this book is intended to radicalize its readers, and convert people to be extremist.. So either this is a radicalized version or Islam truly teaches hate and intolerance contradictory to what they preach in front of the media cameras.

Fitnah!. This person is adding things that are totally his opinion. I've studied the Quran for years, I've NEVER seen Christians and Jews included in Al Fateha in disparaging terms. I am no apologist but this translation provides misinformation.

Incitement for Hate. Incites for Hate and offensive because it contains personal opinions and understandings which are wrong and not mentioned in the real version of Quran.

Accurate. The brackets are NECESSARY since there are words that don’t exist in English in the Arabic language, as well as CONTEXT and the TAFSIR which is referred to by other reviewers. This is an amazing and very accurate translation of the Quran. Good step in trying to understand the beliefs of the Islamic religion and the highlighting and notes feature in iBooks is great for if you have a question on a specific section so you can look into it later and not assume that it is the author’s opinion. Please. It’s called research. Do read this translation! Interpret it after without biases from other people and their religions.

First Search Result Not Always The Best, Stars Not Always Indicative of Quality. This was the first result I had when searching for a basic Qur'an. It also had 4 stars, as many as the first 4 or 5 other results from my search, but once I started reading, I was distracted by these very judgmental, racist comments in parentheses, and I wondered, "Is this REALLY what the Qur'an says?!" So, I looked for another one and was more careful about reading for a book description that touted accuracy and direct translation with a translator with relevant credentials.

Review. Terrible translation! I forbid my children from reading as it is full of personal opinions and is presenting Hate instead of the written word.

I love this book. I’m a Catholic of Spanish moor and Sephardic Jew heritage.... This is a beautiful book .. that has gave me a understanding of my heritage..

What did I just read?. In the beginning it was good, when you keep on going, it gets bad. The writer actually thought we as readers are stupid because they repeat over and over and over again like four or five or maybe 20 pages of the same stuff. They also added things that does not even pertain to the Bible because the Bible and the Koran are the same book it is just written differently how they protect the story. What bothers me about some of the parts of the Quran is the fact that it tells you to beat your wife but don’t kill her. This part was added this is not in the original Quran. Stop selling and distributing false hoods to people because this is ridiculous crap if you’re going to put out things like this then there’s no point of you writing a book. Tell the truth and stop putting falseness it even says it in your own book not to write falseness is against religion.

Love this book!. I say to you all, that this book is everything a believer and or a lover of God should study and know. I am not a perfect person, but I know I have never found something more interesting than Islam and its teachings! Only in the sense that the Qu'ran is amazing, not from the author's perspective, but the actual Qu'ran.

Please read. First of all, He is not putting his own personal opinion in the brackets. That is actually what the tafsir of the Qur'aan is referring to in each ayat. He makes it simpler so you don't have to wonder what the ayat is referring to. Also, the Ulamaa (Scholars), have recommended that Dr. Mohsin Khan's translation is by far the most accurate translation to this day. He is actually from the world renowned Islamic University of Al-Medinah Al-Munawarah in Saudi Arabia.

Errors. Not an accurate translation. I read no further than the Fatiha, the most recited verse in prayer, and saw in brackets things that have no place in the Quran. As Muslims we are to respect all faiths, just as we we want all faiths to respect us.

Cluttered with authors opinions. His translations were more literal than other translations but his personal opinions and biases which were given in parentheses were inputted way too often and I found it very difficult to read the actual texts. I would search for a different translation.

As a Muslim, This translation is a Lie. Insulting to True Muslims. I read the first Surah, and how can you say the jews and christians are astray, the real quran says in verse 3:3 the torah and gospel of jesus are books of God and includes the Sabians are believers as well, meaning jews and christians are believers and brought the original message BEFORE the quran PER the authentic quran. Thank God it cannot be changed in arabic. The translator of this book is is a lier, and defaming God’s words. Obviously is not a true muslim. Stick to Mustafa Khattab version, it’s the most literal if you’re looking for a good English translation. My grandma memorized the Quran in its original language, arabic, as we are Syrian background and muslim. She has said it’s all accurate what I read on 3:3 and that it is a continuation of the original message brought by Abraham (Jews), and Jesus (Christians). How can this book be made when Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Quran and say they are astray. Anyone with common sense would know this book is a lie to inspire hate between brothers and sisters and with a connection to God would know. Don’t believe me, learn arabic and read the original which cannot be changed thank God.

The word of God. Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the very word of God Almighty: a complete record of the exact words revealed by God through the Archangel Gabriel to Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him). Not one word of its 114 surahs (chapters) has been changed over the centuries. It deals with all subjects that concern us as human beings, including wisdom, doctrine, worship and law; but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time, the Qur'an provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and equitable economic principles. "He (God) has sent down to you the Book (the Qur'an) with truth, confirming what was revealed before; And He sent down the Torah (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this as a guide in humankind; and He sent down the Criterion (the Qur'an)." (Qur'an 3:3-4)

Women in Islam. I have the distinct feeling that the Quran was written for men. I'm not trying to sound sexist but looking up "woman", "girl", and "women" in the search bar was very enlightening. I'm doing a project on the misrepresentation of women in Islam not being weak, docile, (merely) useful creatures to men that are Muslim. I was sorely disappointed. I have realized reading the other reviews that this isn't the only understanding (do to the authors personal opinions) of the Quran but regardless-the actual thing is not that much different.

Spelling Mistake. In many places, the spelling of ALLAH is wrongly written, please correct it

curiosity. i see some dont think the author of book knew what he ws saying. im curious to read it myself more understanding on what muslim believe and understand why this is the backbone of jhad and isis. im sure it will be interesting. i think ppl need go inwith open minds. dont read a book if you have already formed an opinion. you will be disappointed no matter what.

It's the correct translation. For all those who say he put his thoughts in brackets, you don't know what you're talking about. The brackets include definitions of Arabic words that don't have an English word to be translated into. The brackets also include tafsir (at tabari) to place the meanings in proper context. The ulema have so agreed that the translation of Muhsin khan is the most correct translation. Research before you write reviews and spew ignorance online.

English translation of the Quran. Excellent work by the writer. A modern english Translation of the holy Quran is long overdue. It is very easy to read and I can take it wherever I go or travel. nmz.

Bad version. I'm a Christian simply wanting to read The Qur'an. The parenthesis and brackets used constantly in the text are not only distracting but an unwelcome interpretation from the translator.

Brilliant, all from curiosity. I'm half way through this Quran, I'm reading out of interest. I'm trying to understand Islam, I'm British. I'm not religious. Ive seen a lot of propaganda about Muslims so I decided I'm going to understand, I really respect your faith and it's very interesting to a none religious person also complex. A very poor translation that left me absolutely frustrated!. As someone who finds comfort in reading the Quran everyday, I found this translation to be a very frustrating read. I honestly just couldn’t go any further than 13%. The translation was poor, the English was poor and in many cases over exaggerated. In my opinion, the author took a very misguided creative licence in a lot of what i read. I really encourage others to look elsewhere for a better English translation.

Not true translation. The author has added lots of his own interpretations (lot of which borders on hatred and fear mongering)and personal beliefs, which renders this as unauthentic. Ended up getting a different translation by a different author.

Somewhat misleading. This is an English translation of the Qur'an. But it is not an accurate translation - it has additional text in the translation which is not on the Arabic. For example, 24:2 has extra text at the end of the verse, which somewhat changes the meaning of that verse. Please check what you read against other translations, or preferable against the Arabic.

Check your facts. It's disgraceful that people here just apparently read the Holy Quran but failed to notice the desecration of the holy book with additional texts that are not in the original. The man who wrote this needs to be held to account. Particular texts referring to the Jews were never in the original. This us the problem with Muslims praise anything without realizing the hidden damage done!! Wake up!! For Allah's sake.

Why is it even legal. There are so many things in this book that are purely barbaric and this is the very book that has cost the lives of many innocent live and will continue to die so until action is tacked against it

Not just a translation. Includes so much interpretation that it has become impossible to read. Imagine a newspaper covered with penciled in notes. It is because of 'translations' such as these that Islam is so misunderstood in the Western world.

Very Accurate Translation. With such a clear translation you can really get a sense of how psychotic the belief system really is.

لا إلَهَ إلَّا الله، يَسُوْعُ هُوَ الله. Book of lies, book of sex, book of conflict, book of wars, book of killing, book of fornicating, book of adulterating, book of hatred, book of taking scriptures from other books (The Holy Bible, Tanakh), book of immortality.
