The Fifth Assassin by Brad Meltzer Book Summary

From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, there have been more than two dozen assassination attempts on the President of the United States.
Four have been successful.
But now, Beecher White--the hero of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Inner Circle--discovers a killer in Washington, D.C., who's meticulously re-creating the crimes of these four men. Historians have branded them as four lone wolves. But what if they were wrong?
Beecher is about to discover the truth: that during the course of a hundred years, all four assassins were secretly working together. What was their purpose? For whom do they really work? And why are they planning to kill the current President?
Beecher's about to find out. And most terrifyingly, he's about to come face-to-face with the fifth assassin.

The fifth assassin. A very real scenario fascinating book

Why only 8 reviews. Robust, complex with great history, but it falls short on a clean ending.

Fifth assassinate this book. When I purchased this book it was number three on the best seller list and when I finished reading it two weeks later it was number 30 and i can see why! The book was very disjointed and the story lines did not connect. The ending was totally unfinished as if there is some sort of sequel. If there is one, I won't be reading it!

Pvp. Wow this is a great book to read

Searching for more. Had such high hopes for this book as it was a continuation of the inner circle (which rocked until the end). In the end, the storyline did not have the punch to keep it a page turner.

Amazing. So worth the 5$ one of the best and most brain twisting books ive read so far. Good ish

So-so. Full of holes and very repetitive.

OMG. What a book!! I was hooked by page 10.....

Good but left you hanging. Just like the Inner Circle, this seems to be another story about Beecher but has no real conclusion. It's definitely a good read and I couldn't put either down, but who knows when the next one will be out to continue the story? What's going on with Clementine and Nico? What's Marshall really doing? What about Beecher and Marshall's fathers? What happens to Tot and Grace? So many things left unanswered.

The 5th Assasin. The people that gave this 5 stars must've read a different book. It's been a struggle to understand the plot and finish the book.

We'll see.... Bought the book based on your interview with WIOD this morning. Looking forward to reading it, the interview sure made it sound interesting! Cheers

Wow. Brad has outdone himself with this one! Phenomenal story with gripping twists and turns...just when you think you've got it figured out....you're surprised yet again. Brads attention to detail and historical references are astounding. What a great read.

Tedious. Really, seriously, tedious.

Thumbs up. Pretty good book. I didn't read the first novel in this series, so I didn't have the full background of the characters and plot. When the book would jump around to different storyline's, it didn't stay off course too long.

The Fifth Assassin is excellent. Excellent book... Page turner! I read this in 2 days. Very gripping story with some twists and surprises. The ending is somewhat unfulfilling but I believe it is setting up a sequel. I can't wait for that book.

Suspense filled, gripping work of art. This is my third Brad Meltzer novel I have read, and like the two others, I could not put I down. If you like mysteries with a lot of twists and turns, plus a little bit of history, then I recommend this book, but first read the Inner Circle so you know the background of the characters.

Great potential but..... Much too complex without explanation. Very hard to follow. I do NOT recommend.

Mr.. Slow read and I did not like the way it ended.

Great!. A wonderful book. I can't wait for the next one.

Opaque. Terrible mish mash incomprehensible nonsensical plot so bad when I finished threw it down in disgust

The Fifth Assassin. I was very disappointed in the ending of this book. It basically had no ending. Is there going to be a sequel so that we can find out what happens to all the characters?

Lost in translation. Meltzer's work has deteriorated from his first book which left me eager for more of this young, clever new author. He has become formulaic with the same clever smart mouth protagonist who is OCD,conflicted about women and probably is Meltzer enjoying his pedantic and convoluted intellect. I couldn't wait for the book to be over.

The Fifth Assasin. Great book but ending was a little of a let down

Fifth Assassin. Very well written. A page turner.

Don't listen to bad reviews. Don't listen to Boys, Tahoe or Bessie. The Fifth Assassin was a really good book. The people that are saying it was hard to follow probably didn't read the prequels to it (Inner Circle & Book of Fate) because I noticed there wasn't too much detail about the characters back stories. I didn't find the plot hard to follow though the ending wasn't the best ever from meltzer. Still good though. P.S. Bessie, you really threw your tablet down in disgust? Really? How'd that work out for you?

The Fifth Assassin. By boysmumas What a waste of money and time. God forgive me I could not finish this book. And the author said it took 4 years to write it? As convoluted as this plot was, it reads as if he threw it together over a long weekend. If plots were a color this one would be gray. On and on it went until I finally slammed it shut. If you really think you must read it, get it from the library, don't waste your money.

It didn't end, it just stopped!. I either missed something or am totally confused. Did Nico ever try to kill Wallace?
