Agenda 21 by Glenn Beck Book Summary

A postapocalyptic thriller from #1 bestselling author Glenn Beck.

“I was just a baby when we were relocated and I don’t remember much. Everybody has that black hole at the beginning of their life. That time you can’t remember. Your first step. Your first taste of table food. My real memories begin in our assigned living area in Compound 14.”

Just a generation ago, this place was called America. Now, after the worldwide implementation of a UN-led program called Agenda 21, it’s simply known as “the Republic.” There is no president. No Congress. No Supreme Court. No freedom.

There are only the Authorities.

Citizens have two primary goals in the new Republic: to create clean energy and to create new human life. Those who cannot do either are of no use to society. This bleak and barren existence is all that eighteen-year-old Emmeline has ever known. She dutifully walks her energy board daily and accepts all male pairings assigned to her by the Authorities. Like most citizens, she keeps her head down and her eyes closed.

Until the day they come for her mother.

“You save what you think you’re going to lose.”

Woken up to the harsh reality of her life and her family’s future inside the Republic, Emmeline begins to search for the truth. Why are all citizens confined to ubiquitous concrete living spaces? Why are Compounds guarded by Gatekeepers who track all movements? Why are food, water and energy rationed so strictly? And, most important, why are babies taken from their mothers at birth? As Emmeline begins to understand the true objectives of Agenda 21 she realizes that she is up against far more than she ever thought. With the Authorities closing in, and nowhere to run, Emmeline embarks on an audacious plan to save her family and expose the Republic—but is she already too late?

Agenda 21. Makes you open your eyes!

Cadwooky. Great read, want more of the story in the future!

Very Engaging. I spent little time rifling through this book. It is written in a very easy to read narrative style. I found I was able to easily visualize the story in my head which I loved. I'm an engineer and usually struggle with fiction as I am a very visual person and find it difficult to visualize many novels and easily loose interest in the story. This book I found to be very entertaining and the story well told.

2 Day Read. I was surprised when I finished the book on the second day and disappointed that it ended. Surprisingly good read.

Agenda 21. Sadly, this work is NOT unbelievable! I'll be more active in my local politics, and I am unafraid to confront those who wish to remain lemmings. Thanks for a fantastic and important read!.....well worth my time!

Food for thought.... Read it in one day! I like how a lot of reviews say "Beck didn't write it" or "he's paranoid". He explains clearly in the "Afterword" section of the book why the book was written and by whom. As far as the "paranoid" comments, he also explains that the book was written to the extreme of what could be not necessarily what was likely to happen, so lets have a little perspective folks. What is good about this book is that informs you in a creative way and gives you something to consider.

Great. Great book and very hard to put down

Good book. I enjoyed this book as a fictional piece with no underlying meaning. I know there was a political aspect to this story, but it is just to far fetched. I do think that Agenda 21 (the real UN one) had good objectives, how ever the way it plans to reach those goals can be disagreeable. If it were just meant to spread awareness to citizens about the environment, fine, but taking and barring land from private citizens is a mistake. I see what the authors were getting at, but I will just take it as a good fantasy.

A great sequel. This book captures the passion of The Overton Window and shows the tactics of using rumors of wars to control people. I hope the story continues in a new book.

If you care about America, read this book.. Truly an eye opener to the real forces that oppose the American way of life. Great book.

The truth can set you free, if your willing to listen and act.... Very easy read, I am looking for more to the novel. I would like to see a sequel. I think we as americans need to wake up and be willing to be, seen, heard, and become active in each and every community. Rosa is speaking truth from all my research, and understanding of this Agenda. What will it take? I have served in the military over thirty years, for what? Our constitution derived freedoms for you and me. Thank you

Wow what a read!!!. I cried it raised such emotion in me as I can see these things coming to pass in my lifetime!!!!

Agenda 21. This is a fiction book with with non-fiction fact! It is a call for people to wake up and realize that we are slowly being lead into neat little progressive package called communitarianism. Look it up it's a real movement. Thanks GB and Harriet for making me more aware.

First book I've read in 3 years.. Great book. I'm not a big reader and I finished this book in less than a week. Looking forward to the Overton window next.

Disappointing. The story was dragged out way too long. Could have been wrapped up in less than half the chapters. Then the book left you hanging. What happened to them would have made abetter finish. Reminded me of an school library book.

Laugh, because it's true. It's extreme, the romance is embarrassing, & the first half is uber depressing, but it's the direction we're heading in, & it's been a strong movement for centuries anyway. Some of my favorite people are libbie suckers, they don't understand their stance to be what it is: liberalism is pure evil. They don't think God knew what he was doing, & they don't care. Any thing that seeks to function as your authority & disguise it as charity on the assumption that people have zero self control, is evil. People lose their will to be good to each other when welfare is mandated to the point that their own survival is questionable & situational betterment becomes a fairy tale, & church becomes irrelevant unless you hold genuine faith. The current design is just to breed us all as domesticated animals- if you don't feel that way then ask yourself why on earth you are required to have a muffler to pass inspection so you can pay a registration on your car so you can have permission to drive your car to work so you can earn money to pay for car improvements to meet standards & not have your "privilege" to drive taken from you. Oh also to buy food. It's ridiculous, it's cyclical, & it's all a huge distraction to exhaust you to the point where you don't even consider the real problem. Both sides are a con, they won't change. Like this debate over the right to bear arms, it's a joke- you can argue that people have the right to nukes one way or witness the opposite where all pointy objects are prohibited. It's also why there's a bazillion mental problems now- your life doesn't belong to you, the spirit is stripped & starving & wants to reconnect with The Lord, & people are short circuiting all over the place. Short as I could make it, that's my argument in support of this book & it's extreme version of reality. People will either understand & make an effort to resist evil, or laugh it off & make fun of the book. If the brutal facts of Planned Parenthood's foundation (population control of minorities ) don't scare the stupid, then the stupid & evil will inherit the earth. I'm praying otherwise.

Very good but..... Great story , opened your eyes but the ending left you disappointed just when the pace started to move you hit a dead end.

Terrible ending. Good story until the abrupt ridiculous ending. A waste of my money. I will not read or purchase another of this authors books. We should all stop buying his books. Very disappointed.

1984, modern day. Considering how things are really going, I don't find this far-fetched what-so-ever, which is incredibly scary.

Great book!. Could not put it down! Finished it in a day! It was a wonderful read, very scary and sad. Reminds me a bit of The Hunger Games, only more real.

Go Glenn Go!. Haven't read the book yet, but must say that the negative reviews about this book playing to right wing conspiracies, etc. only make me more excited to read it!!

Loved it!. I highly recommend this read! You learn so much!

Paranoid political posturing. ...besides, he bought the book and slapped his name on it. Only for people who share Becks histrionic paranoia.

Agenda 21. Hard to put down , female influence was noticed & appreciated will appeal to your soft side , Beck is always spot on , timing sometimes off , but never wrong !

Scary. Great approach, great read, scared me to death! I have recommended it to all my friends.

Great read.. I loved the book. I'm not a huge fan of Beck, but I listen to his show and even watched him occasionally before he was only on GB tv. Even if I wasn't into the political aspects of Agenda 21, I would have loved it for just the story. The end was a bit abrupt, but not as bad as some are making it seem. I believe it fit well and you could see that the book was heading in that direction. Definitely worth a read by everyone, maybe it'll wake up this sleeping nation. But I can only hope.

Get to the point already.... This is hardly a thriller. The storyline is as lifeless as the characters. Nothing in this story makes me "know" or understand the characters. Half way into this, I found myself wishing it were over. I found the afterword much more interesting and helpful. Sure, some would prefer to read a story instead of a presentation of ideas through documentary style articles, but this is hardly a story that explains what Agenda 21 really is. The fact there is a long afterword to take the reader through some of the bigger details of the UN sponsored Agenda tells us the story lacked so much information that we needed an explanation of what we just read. The level of creative writing is also quite elementary. This has the feel of a story that was rushed to print, and written at about the 6th grade level. Is the simplistic style because it is aimed at the simple-minded? Is it simplistic because so little time and thought went into developing the story? Or is IT simplistic because the author is? Come on, Glenn. You can do MUCH better than this.

Agenda 21. Loved this book! Couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the 2nd one to come out because I want to know what happens to them. This would make an awesome movie!

Awesome!. This book is great! It is thought provoking. It was so good, I read it in one night! Could not stop reading it.

Okay. It was okay. Not especially well written and was trying to be alarmist. I thought it was odd how it ignored guns in America. Ol' Beck still managed to try and sell gold in the end of the book. Oh well, at least he's a consistent shill.

Opening minds. My friend advised me to read this book of how good it is and of what the governments plans where, i did not realize that until now. This book has opened my eyes to see how the government can do something that changes everyones lives forever. Must read this book.

Amazing book. This book was incredible. The way that it explains how things could possible go with the direction the economy is headed right now really shows you that we need to take action against the many the things that the government is trying to do to change the big picture. Other than that it was an awesome boon. Great read. I strongly recommend it.

Scary!!. I don't read at all but since I have been listening to the blaze I realize I need to start educating myself. Even though this is fictional it is scary that some day it could become a reality. I will be reading more of his books!!

Ridiculous and paranoid. I read this not realizing that it was written by "that" Glenn Beck, silly me! This book is full of twisted, paranoid, ravings about what will happen if we actually implement measures to create healthy, livable communities. Obviously I am one of those people that Beck considers a crazy liberal and I actually work on projects like urban agriculture, walkable neighborhoods, etc. We are working to develop more, not less small farms and maybe fewer freeways. I don't think that anything in the language of Agenda 21 mentions God either. I finished this because I wanted to know exactly what the craziest people thought and now I know. Step back from the propaganda and listen to what this work is really intended to do...make a better world for people, not squirrels.

10star. Read it in just a few days. Fantastic book, really gets the imagination working. I will continue my work on waking people up. This book made it feel ever more urgent. Anyways thank you for the entertainment as well as the awesome information I will be sure to pass it on. I recommend this book to everyone. Please please please tell me there is a sequel coming out soon, even better a series.

Agenda 21. Well this is a more serious and up-to-date look at collectivism than Ayn Rands the "The Anthem". It is frightening that Glen has detected so many aspects of what the "United Nations" thinks and is trying to control all over the world. For an organization with no real country to serve, real contact with its member nations populations and a standing army they sure what to try and get our governments to follow policies that are not tried or proven. In Agenda 21 our characters are subjected to a System of government that is socialist/communist/totalitarian and controls everything in their lives. But as the story progresses the system starts to fail when the Authority (government) begins not to take care of its citizens. In the end the heros leave the controlled community and starts a new life. Glen has presented a story that could come true if the U.S. politicians are allowed to engage in treaties with the UN that are supported via Executive Orders signed by a progressive President. This Agenda 21 goes along with moves by the UN to control guns, land use in the U.S..our land not these foreigners who run the UN. Now the time line was not projected for the so called Authority take over. But you,can see the beginnings of this activity with wealth redistribution and assumption of freedoms from our citizens by the Government. Even though the book is an eye opener on the possibilities of,a dismal future for generations to come it will not be overly popular with anyone other than conservatives...no non-progressives. Good job Glen and a read that is sure to provoke some thought! Pete Milller

What? Stupid!. Where is the ending to this fictional story. Good grief what a disappointment. The story was good until it just fizzled into nothing. Was hoping for an interesting fiction, not a luring into political mumbo jumbo at the end.

Agenda 21. The story is good overall. The writer is diligent in revealing the characters personality so the reader can "see" their image. It helps to understand that the story may seem slow in developing, it needs to be so we can understand the magnitude of suffering that is taking place. Mentally and physically. As you may realize, the transformation happens in only two generations or twenty years of reprogramming. Scary. See what group you belong to of the 3 that are spoken of.

Agenda 21. Drama King Beck at his best - but I have NEVER heard an untruth from him.

Fastest read I've ever had. What you read in this book may not be currently happening here in the US, or anywhere to the extent this book describes, but it is or has already happened many, many times throughout the world. Nazi Germany, Stalins Soviet Union, Mao in China are just a few past examples that remind me of some parts of this story. Modern day examples include Chinas one child policy, north korea (frightfully similar if you think about it), or an article I just saw yesterday on how babies in a european hospital that have birth abnormalities are slowly starved and deprived of water. I guess its quite common over in those socialized medicine countries where they have to cut back on "expenses." Sure, it's not exactly the same as what this book says, but the essence of control over the food supply and energy supply is the key. What's also common is how the "citizens" are raised to worship their leaders, or "authority." Look at North Korea today: they worship their dictator as an actual god. It's not hard and doesn't take as long as you think to gain complete control over a large population. Wake up, America! The UN right now is trying to control the Internet. This week they voted in favor of global Internet reforms. And we have a president who would gladly abide by the UNs vision of a global government. The control they want is happening as we speak.

Interesting story. I enjoyed the book but I kept waiting for something to happen. A revolution in the compounds or any attempt to regain freedom. The ending left many questions unanswered as it seemed to just stop like the end of a chapter.

Unfullfilling. Although a decent story at first, the ending is incredibly disappointing. It will leave you unsatisfied. The last 30pages is nothing but propaganda.

Beck didn't write this book. Glen Beck is a fraud ... This book was purchased from Parke and then it's intent, as well as content, was manipulated to fall in line with the lunatic ravings of Beck. It is a classic case of changing the facts to fit your hypothesis.

Need a Sequel. I really liked the book, but I felt like it ended WAY too early. Unless that was the author's purpose, and there will be a sequel. Which I hope there will be one!

Great book!. Please read and pass on to all those who won't give you the hours and hours you need to let them know what's really going on! Great way to get people thinking and hopefully interested in learning the truth behind all the smoke and mirrors. Congrats to the authors!

Glenn Beck IS FICTION. I was surprised to see Glenn Beck in the fiction section; then, it all made sense. After all, the man has no sense of reality.

Great read. Enjoyed reading this book.

Beck-wash. I think the ultimate conspiracy is the success of hyper-paranoid schizophrenic hoopla that Glen Beck packs and wraps with such success. His grade-school diatribe is cartoon-character type personalities that seem bent on world domination through the UN- which seems to come straight from a rejected looney-tunes script. The story is a bad book report by someone who 'thought they read' 1984. It's an unbelievably tired rehash of cliches that come from an uneducated, critically compromised mind that is Mr. Beck. Don't waste money on this xenophobic hack.

Agenda 21. Awesome book! Couldn't put it down! Was stunned when I learned it was written off of a true Agenda 21! Must read!

Question?. So, does anybody try to "wake" the main character's "panther" in this one?

Agenda 21 is a great book. Agenda 21 is a great book. And a great eye opener to what may happen if we don't stand up for freedom. Hope they make it into a movie. Would be awesome

Amazing wake up call !!!. This is the real reason why progressives want to get rid of the 2nd amendment of the U.S. constitution. By getting rid of the guns, this agenda will be unstoppable.
