Una villa moresca sul Pacifico. Araceli, la cameriera messicana, osserva gli occupanti. Una famiglia molto, molto perbene. Nessun dubbio su chi siano i veri barbari.
Un mattino d'estate, Araceli, l'unica domestica della famiglia Torres-Thompson a non essere stata licenziata per effetto della crisi, scopre che la casa è deserta. Dopo la violenta lite della sera precedente, sia il señor sia la señora sono spariti senza fornire spiegazioni. E soprattutto senza portarsi dietro i due intollerabili bambini. Cosí, nonostante Araceli abbia sempre tenuto a precisare di essere stata assunta come cuoca e domestica e non come baby sitter, si ritrova a dover badare ai due viziatissimi gringos. L'unica, forse, è cercare di rintracciare il vecchio nonno, visto da Araceli una sola volta e poi evidentemente bandito da quella casa...
