The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt & Oliver Jeffers Book Summary

The hilarious, colorful #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon that every kid wants! Gift a copy to someone you love today.

Poor Duncan just wants to color. But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: His crayons have had enough! They quit! Blue crayon needs a break from coloring all those bodies of water. Black crayon wants to be used for more than just outlining.  And Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking—each believes he is the true color of the sun. What can Duncan possibly do to appease all of the crayons and get them back to doing what they do best?

With giggle-inducing text from Drew Daywalt and bold and bright illustrations from Oliver Jeffers, The Day the Crayons Quit is the perfect gift for new parents, baby showers, back-to-school, or any time of year! Perfect for fans of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith.

Loved it!. I saw the hard book copy at target....started reading it and thought....this is too funny of a concept. I thought my son would love it....but he isn't necessarily ready for the responsibility of taking care of books. Figuring out it was here, was a great treat. I can read it to him and still keep the book intact. The book of course is clever, cute and humorous at times. We loved it!

Great book. Fun

The Day the Crayons Quit. My second graders thought this book was a hit!

The day the crayons quit. This book is awesome

Personification at its best!!!!. Very creative!

The Day the Crayons Quit. This book is funny, cute and cool. I love this book, I would recommend reading it!!!!

Every Page Makes You Smile. Incredibly creative and unique. The illustrations are so fun and sweet. Enjoyed each and every page.

Great Book for the First Week of School. Very creative story! I plan on using this book for the first week of school for my Kindergarten class. I want the students to take care of their supplies and use them correctly. This book will really get them thinking about how they use their crayons and creativity. We can also revisit this book for character point of view and letter writing.

One of my favs. I really like this book I read it in school and I really enjoyed it

Looks good, and is gonna be the best!. Hi I’m Caleb. I’m 7 years old and my mom’s gonna get me this book from barns and noble and I’m excited about that.

Brilliant!!. This book is excellent and will reach the mind and hearts of all.

Hilarious book with a great message. Our favorite children's book, by far!

Best childhood book ever!!!. This book was the best when I was in elementary and my teachers would read it all the time. I still remember it and it’s the best!!!

The day the crayons quit. My kids love this story. My 1st grader came home from school asking for this book because his teacher read it in class. Colorful, creative and funny! The only setback is the text itself. I get the author was going for the look of the crayons writing the letters but it being so sloppy and a mix of cursive and print made it difficult for my son to read it himself. Especially since they aren't even teaching cursive at that young an age. But both my boys love the story.

just fabulous!!!. It's really happy to read and thoughtful concepts. I am so impressed! Thanks 😘

Great book. My 6 year old loves this book. I also enjoy reading it with him!

my review. this is now one of my favorite books ever!

So good. My son and I love this book. It is our favorite book we read it every night before he goes to bed. This book is perfect.

Cute, kid witty & funny!. Everyone who colors will relate to this book. The illustrations are cute & simple, but with 1,000 words. I'll probably have to read this every night for a while. Nice job!
