The Silent Wife Book Summary

Soon to be a major motion picture starring Nicole Kidman, fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will love The Silent Wife

"I gobbled it down in one sitting." – Anne Lamott, People

Jodi and Todd are at a bad place in their marriage. Much is at stake, including the affluent life they lead in their beautiful waterfront condo in Chicago, as she, the killer, and he, the victim, rush haplessly toward the main event. He is a committed cheater. She lives and breathes denial. He exists in dual worlds. She likes to settle scores. He decides to play for keeps. She has nothing left to lose. Told in alternating voices, The Silent Wife is about a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept. Expertly plotted and reminiscent of Gone Girl and These Things Hidden, The Silent Wife ensnares the reader from page one and does not let go.

The Silent Wife - A. S. A. Harrison Book Reviews

  • Glad I read it (kerpoi)

It wasn’t necessarily a page turner, but I would say that I was entertained throughout. Ending was a little anticlimactic
  • Terrible. (Nic28262291)

I kept reading this book in hopes it would get better ..... it didn’t. To compare this to “Gone Girl” is just wrong. It fell horribly flat. No work up in suspense whatsoever. Too much detail, not enough dialogue.
  • Awful (MaeMandy)

Don’t buy this book, it’s a waste of money. One of the worst books I’ve ever read. Seriously...go to amazon and read more reviews before you pay for this.
  • The Silent Wife (Bacswifey)

Short, felt unfinished and ended abruptly. Excellent character development by author. Left me wanting more.
  • So boring!!!! (Nanny from Flushing)

Literally had to skip ahead some parts to get past all of the babbling and excessive backstories that really had nothing to do with the current story. Awful!!!
  • Started great, ended wack (Sdfrdeghfrjed)

The story was short. It was interesting at first, then it gets a little boring and ends with nothing. You don’t get to know much about the characters nor the secrets. A lot of unanswered questions.
  • Don’t waste your money- it’s awful! (Red-hen)

This was one of the most excruciating books I’ve ever red. I’m sad I wasted my money on this one!
  • Underwhelming ending (MG171586)

I enjoyed the anticipation of where it could go but the author often got hung up on describing every unnecessary detail and the ending was a let down. No plot twist here just a long drawn out story.
  • Lovely Read (kaymardel)

I loved the story line and it was made even better with the choice of words and how well each sentence flowed together. I got lost in it every time. Page turner. Makes you think!!
  • A lovely read made dim by its lackluster ending. (chemicular)

Read it in a day and loved the psychology, but only wish there was more about Jodi, her sufferings, her family and her future.
