The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo Book Summary

National Book Award finalist by Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo. Walking through the misty Florida woods one morning, twelve-year-old Rob Horton is stunned to encounter a tiger—a real-life, very large tiger—pacing back and forth in a cage. What’s more, on the same extraordinary day, he meets Sistine Bailey, a girl who shows her feelings as readily as Rob hides his. As they learn to trust each other, and ultimately, to be friends, Rob and Sistine prove that some things—like memories, and heartache, and tigers—can’t be locked up forever. Featuring a new cover illustration by Stephen Walton and an excerpt of Kate DiCamillo's newest novel, Raymie Nightingale.

A sad, but good book!. I rate this 5 stars because of story line, and how well the author written the book! It made me feel like I was in the book, as if I were a character, standing next to Billy, helping his adventure with Old Dan and Little Ann. 👍 Anyways, its a good book.

Tiger rising. Amazing book though sad in some parts

LJ. This is so touching, I loved it so much ❤️

Tiger rising. I am in 4th grade reading this book in reading group and I just finished it over spring break and I was not supposed to but I loved it it was awesome no other book could top it. It was sad happy cool, basically what I am trying to say is it was emotional it was unique.all of you who have not read it yet should it is very good and as you can tell by my rating it has 5 well earned stars.

The tiger rising. Who don't love this book call yourself crazzzzzzzzzzzzy if u don't read it again if there was 10 star this book would get it from me.

No plot, no plot.. My teacher read this for read-aloud at my school, and, honestly for the record it’s got the crappiest plot. It’s also written pretty terribly, too. SUMMARY Rob, a kid with rash-covered legs, moves out of Jacksonville and to some place in the south. He gets bullied by bullies Norton and Billy Threemonger. One day he takes a stroll in the forest and sees a caged tiger near a run down gas station. One day, a new girl, Sistine,(who dresses too fancy) comes to school. Rob then gets expelled JUST BECAUSE OF HIS RASH-COVERED LEGS. He and Sistine become friends, and Rob shows her the tiger. Sistine wants to free it. Then they meet Willy May, the apparent “Prophetess,” and they show her the tiger. After that, Beauchamp, the owner of the hotel Rob lives in gives Rob the job (and keys to the tigers cage) to feed the tiger. Rob and Sistine decide to free the tiger. But then when they do it Willy May warns Robs Dad that they are freeing the tiger. He shoots the tiger. They bury the tiger, The End. Seriously, no plot. CONCLUSION, LIFE LESSON Conclusion: In the end, they kill and bury the tiger. Cool. Life Lesson: Um, I guess something like,”Everyone deserves their freedom”? Well, that’s my review. Maybe I’ll edit later. -Bye, POWBot2000

The tiger rising. I was read this in fourth grade and it was read aloud by my teacher. I remember loving this book and learning so much for it, I had forgotten the title for a while but I never forgot the book! It's definitely a book for 8 and up that can teach some great life lessons.

🐯🐯🐯. In fourth grade, my teacher read it out loud to the class. It is so GOOD 😊, The book is in my top 10.At The end of the book it is 😭

The tiger rising. I think the book was both happy and sad at the same time, because the boy had a condition that the principal thought was contagious. Then a new student came and changed the perspective of his life

Good but. The book was good but it was also very confusing. I would not suggest it. It seemed too long and if u liked it then it’s fine

The Tiger Rising. The Tiger Rising shows how to handle pain that a person can go through, I had lost a family member and I would refuse to cry. Because I thought crying was for babies and thats what people told me, so after I read this book, i had cried for the first time in five months after loosing someone. I say teachers should be required to read this to their kids because it has such a story behind it and shows that crying is okay and you should never let your sadness or anger or any emotion sit at your feet and stay there. Because relief is all one needs to sooth the soul.

the tiger rising. it is a good book i like it so much

Great book!. This book is one of the best books I have ever read! If u have not read this then ur missing out! I don't like thick books and this is only 116 pages! Love this book!

The best book I’ve ever read(this has spoilers)!!!!. I want a part twooo this was so good I don’t think I can find another book like this can teach you how to make hard decisions in life has sad moments like in the end and happy moments when the tiger got let free and awkward moments I think that Kati is my fav author I also like the book all because of Winn Dixie I recomienda all her books she write with carecer perspective and emotions please I would beg you to read her please 🐅🐯

Such a wonderful book ♥️♥️♥️. This is one of my favorite Kate Dicamillo books. It talks about grief, loss, friendship and more. I first read this book in 4th grade and I still do. I recommend it to people who have a hard time dealing with grief or loss.

💙awesome💙. I loved this book and I thought it was very good and sweet! 💜💙wow💙💜

Outstanding. Best book I ever read. Very impressive. Kate is a great author with magnificent, passionate writing

Best for Middle Schoolers 10 outta 10. This book is amazing! In sixth grade we read this book and it was great with its metaphors, smiles, idioms and alliteration. If I had to recommend it to a grade it would be 6-7 maybe 8. If your someone who has problems with metaphors and smilies you might have a problem with this book. The author uses a lot of detail to the character and the surrounding settling. 5 outta 5 stars

Awesome. This book was emotional and moving. 5 out of 5 stars.
