Five Days in November by Clint Hill Book Summary

Secret Service agent Clint Hill reveals the stories behind the iconic images of the five tragic days surrounding President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in this 60th anniversary edition of the New York Times bestseller.

On November 22, 1963, three shots were fired in Dallas, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and the world stopped for four days. For an entire generation, it was the end of an age of innocence.

That evening, a photo ran on the front pages of newspapers across the world, showing a Secret Service agent jumping on the back of the presidential limousine in a desperate attempt to protect the President and Mrs. Kennedy. That agent was Clint Hill.

Now Hill commemorates the sixtieth anniversary of the tragedy with this stunning book containing more than 150 photos, each accompanied by his incomparable insider account of those terrible days. A story that has taken Hill half a century to tell, this is a “riveting, stunning narrative” (Herald & Review, Illinois) of personal and historical scope. Besides the unbearable grief of a nation and the monumental consequences of the event, the death of JFK was a personal blow to a man sworn to protect the first family, and who knew, from the moment the shots rang out in Dallas, that nothing would ever be the same.

Five days in November. Great book!,

Excellent Book, Well written.. This book takes us through the five days of Secret Service Agent Clint Hill during the tumultuous days leading up to and after JFK's assassination. Clint Hill was Jackie Kennedy's Secret Service Agent but was the only agent in position on November 22, 1963 to give aid to the mortally wounded President. I could not put this book down, I finished it in less than a week once I started reading it. This book is a fantastic piece of work and I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in what happened during those tragic final days of the Kennedy Presidency.

Excellent book!. This book gives the heart warming story of mrs. Kennedy during that dark period in her life. Very moving account!

Loved it!!. Could not put the iPad down!!! It's a great book!! Clint Hill you're awesome!!

Wonderful; A must read. Thank you Clint Hill for this incredible history of those five days in November 1963 that will forever be etched in our memories and collective experience. Like others who have shared reviews, I was young (12) and still see those events like they happened yesterday. You brought back so many memories of the events in Dallas and Washington. It was very emotional to relive those days again through your experience. As readers we appreciate your willingness to share an incredibly painful chapter. Thank you.

I relived those days through Mr Hill. It was amazing to hear everything Mr Hill said in this book. Very easy reading and very well written.

A Moving Story. This book is an excellent read and takes me back to those days as if it happened yesterday. I was only 8 years old when this horrific event happened, but I can clearly remember how school was canceled, and my parents and my sisters and I watched all the coverage of those dark days on television. I had the privilege of meeting Clint Hill at a book signing and talk that he gave about another of his books, The Kennedy Detail. Even if you are not old enough to remember the Kennedy years, reading this book and Mr. Hill's other books including, Mrs. Kennedy and Me will take you back to another time, before the digital age that captivates the young people of today.

Heartbreaking and spellbinding all over again. As soon as I heard about this book I had to read it. I deeply thank Mr. Hill for answering all the questions I had as a young girl in sixth grade when it happened. As broken as our hearts were, none could be more so than his with the exception of Kennedy family members and relatives. My deepest admiration and respect to Mr. Hill for sharing his compelling story and letting us all inside of one of the saddest chapters in the history of our great country.

Five Days in November. I lived through this tragedy and thought our world would never be the same again. As everyone else who did, I remember the exact time and place that I heard the unbelievable news. Thank you Mr Hill for making this memory more exact for me.

Five Days in November. I loved this book it was a great read. Clint Hill has been very courageous in adding his thoughts to hidtory!!

Excellent work!. In addition to the obvious plus of Clint being a part of this incredible piece of history, he has done a superb job of sharing his reality. The photos really add a unique porthole into the story.

Excellent!. I was 12 years old when JFK was killed.I got a cold that weekend and my mother made me a nest on our sofa in front of the black and white TV. I could not stop watching. I saw Jack Ruby shoot Oswald live on tv.those images are seared into my brain.I visited this fall the exhibit in Washington DC.reading this book filled in the behind scene stories of the images that are all too familiar to me.it was a quick read, well written and worth my time. I could not lay it down.
