W Is for Wasted by Sue Grafton Book Summary

The first victim was a local PI of suspect reputation who’d been gunned down near the beach at Santa Teresa. The other body was found on the beach six weeks later—a homeless man with Kinsey Millhone’s name and number written on a slip of paper in his pants pocket.

Two seemingly unrelated deaths, one a murder, the other apparently of natural causes.

But as Kinsey digs deeper into the mystery of the John Doe, some very strange linkages begin to emerge. Not just between the two victims, but also to Kinsey’s past. And before long Kinsey, through no fault of her own, is thoroughly compromised…

W is for Wasted. One of Grafton's best. Weaving mystery, medical issues, and homelessness into a single great story. Can't wait for the next.

W is for Wasted. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you

W is for Wasted. A dog gone outstanding great book. Super job Sue Grafton. You are the greatest. Flash Gordon

One if her best, and I've read 'em all!. Yup

W is for Wasted. I've LOVED all of the author's previous books in this series. However, this one was too drawn out and tedious. I never really got into it, and was glad when I finally finished it. Respectfully, that's just my opinion.

W is for wasted. Most agonizing experience of my life! Terrible, long winded, boring and stale. I have OCD so I had to finish it. I skipped pages and pages of explanations of surroundings in search of some dialogue! It was like watching a bad silent film.

One of her best. It maybe surprising, but after so many good and better books, this is one of the strongest in the series. The mystery isn't particularly mysterious, but the characters and plot are engaging and solid. Loved it.

Change. I like reading these, the plots are good but she doesn’t have much character development. Kinsey, she doesn’t change even after 5, or 6 years

An American. Qbb still redshirt sherr ssrd Tess ze ft

Great book. Great book. One of her best. Wish she was still driving her VW- can't imagine her in a mustang. Love her sense of humor and mystery in one book. On the edge of my seat for "X" to be here. Hope it isn't too far in the future.

W is for Wasted. I've read all of Sue Grafton's alphabet books. Loved them all and this was no exception. I feel like I know Kinsey and love the way she writes. Lots of great detail, easy to read. I work for a pharmaceutical company so this was super interesting to me. Sorry it ended and now her fans have to wait for "X". AnnaMarie W.

How do you say best ever?. Always a treat with eager anticipation to the next. Perhaps once the alphabet is done, Ms. Grafton will start over with A1? please!

W is for Wasted. Sue Grafton has done it again! Loved it!

W is for Wasted. Thought this was Sue Grafton's best book yet. Now we have to wait patiently for her next one. What she going to do when she runs out of letters?

Great read!. I am a big fan of Sue Grafton ( I will be disappointed when she runs out of alphabet). This is a good story with just enough morality with getting preachy but enough to get you thinking. I always enjoy her stories and this is one of her best.

W is for Wasted. Unfortunately, what was wasted was my time spent reading it. A good edit could have cut at least 1/4 of this book and resulted in a much tighter, more engrossing story. I finished it, but just barely.

W is for.... Sue Grafton's latest, W is for Wasted, holds up the continuing story of her Kelsey Millhone. There is a twist at the end and a solid and important message as well. If you found her early books worth it then you will find this one another enjoyable read.

Not so good. This book is w for the worst of the series. All the other books in the series are a great read. This one was just one off. Somewhat boring and a strange quick end.

W is a waste. So far I have read through page 50 and nothing is going on. Boring!

W is for "WOW,". Thank you, Sue! As my favorite author, once again you have not failed me! From start to finish, I could not put the book down! Loved all of the characters, the plot, the amazing descriptions, and of course, our beloved, familiar Millhone extended family members.

Dull. The most boring mystery I have ever read. Torture to stay awake through it.

W is for Wasted. Great read. Typical Kinsy.

Disappointed. I love Sue Grafton but I would not download this book. It was her worst by far and so boring. Do yourself a favor and don't download. I am so disappointed.

W is for Wasted. Another great read by Sue Grafton. Christel Chesney Cayocos, Ca.

W is for Wasted. Sue Grafton continues to entertain us with her ability to weave subplots into the main story. I was not disappointed. Her style of writing suspense novels is a favorite of mine.

Best one yet.. This was my favorite Kinsey novel so far. I've read them all and this one was the warmest, most thoughtful yet. I feel like we got to see another side of Kinsey. Would recommend 10/10.

Had potential, then falls short. The first few chapters are intriguing. Who is the dead man who has Kinsey's phone number? What is his story? Then his will is found, and there is an interesting plot twist. I settled in for what promised to be an interesting story. Well, no. There are so many loose ends in this book that it would take hours to list them. The children of the dead man contribute almost nothing to the story. One of them, Anna, inexplicably relocates to Kinsey's town for the sole purpose of setting up the ending. The homeless people are unpleasant and forgettable. The plot quickly becomes a hacky pseudo-medical story which has been done to death. Kinsey's ex Dietz shows up for about 10 pages, then disappears , contributing nothing to the story. Cheney also makes a very predictable appearance. One of the most irritating things about the story is the ending, which is entirely predictable. Why does Kinsey, who has been a cop and now a PI for many years, leave herself so vulnerable? You are left wondering about her competence. All in all, very forgettable .

A quick, slick read!. I love all of Grafton's alphabet books. It is intriguing but not so complicated you can't put it down to take a quick dip in the pool and pick it back up where you left off. It has been my favorite just for fun n summer read.

W is for Wasted. Sue Grafton never dissapoints from A to W, keep them coming.

W is for Wasted. This was a very disappointing read. It was very long on discriptive passages, very short on a build up of suspense, not at all like most Kinsey Millhone stories that have kept me turning the pages to see what happens next. Even the venture into medical malpractice was not fully developed enough to really grab my attention. I'm was so looking forward to this latest Kinsey tale.

A great read!. Another consistently, witty and entertaining read! Looking forward to the next one!

W is for wasted. This is one of the best books Sue Grafton has written in a long time. It isn't often I have tears in my eyes after reading a "detective" novel, but I did with this novel. Can't wait for the next installment.
