Heaven and Hell. A wonderful personal story about "life in the fast lane". So creative yet sometimes sad. Read this then listen again to the Eagles hits one of the great American Bands of the past century. Amazing story!! Of success and sadness.

Great story. I found this to be an awesome and interesting story, as a fan, I grew up to this band, as a boy growing up very poor I could feel his joy and pain. And as a guitarist I love the joy he got from playing. It's a very good story and I'm sure there are two sides but if I had to pick it would be this one.

I loved it...couldn't put it down. Very heart felt recollection.. Don Felder is a massive talent. He was missed in the line up as far as I was concerned. The music didn't sound the same. What a shame Henley and Frey had such massive egos that got in the way of the timeless music they all made. I felt for the other Eagles...

A hell of a ride!. Fantastic inside account of the Eagles. All the good times had a black cloud hanging over them. I think some people just don't handle wealth and fame all that well. Money seems to do two things - make a person even more power hungry and greedy, or it makes a person humble and introspective. Fingers Felder has come through the storm with a new respect for his accomplishments and a better attitude for life. A great book.

Dictators are not leaders. And the lesson we learn here is that Dictators are not Leaders. It's too bad that things had to end the way they did for the members of The Eagles that were not seen as the "chosen" ones. Great book, Don. I wish Randy would write one next. But I suspect he is (as you mentioned) a really nice person, and would not be comfortable telling the true tale of how people were treated. Shame that you, Bernie, and Randy (and later, Joe and Tim) were treated as extras or "hired guns" instead of as an equal. But that's band life for you. Happens in small time operations, too, unfortunately. Egos can be a bad, destructive thing. Thanks for sharing your story, it was insightful.

Informative. This is a great book to read as an Eagles fan. It's also good to read the history of the band from another persons point of view.

Heaven and Hell. An extraordinary story of life's realities as they relate to business and interpersonal relationships. The writing captures the wide range of emotions. You can sense the highest of high as well as the lowest of lows. You cannot help but respect Mr. Felder in spite of his human frailties. Ultimately his humanity shines through. His attribution to his parents demonstrates the lifelong influence they have bestowed upon him. Thank you Mr. Felder.

Excellent Book. I am a fan of the Eagles. I wanted to know more about what really happened with this group and why original members left the band. Don did a extraordinary job on this book. I could hardly put the book down. I have a new found respect for him and what he went through with the Eagles. He is a great musical artist and in my opinion, the Eagles were the ones that really lost out when they let Don go. Randy Meisner was another that they should not have let go. He's a wonderful singer and really nice guy. Kudos to you Don for writing such a great and enlightening book.

Heaven and Hell. Simply a great read. One of the most enjoyable books I've read. I recommend to others that they view the film History of the Eagles that was released on Showtime in 2013 as they read this book. It's available via You Tube. Seeing the band perform and visualizing the real people as you read Felder's characterizations made his story even more compelling, as well as balancing his side of this story. I have always enjoyed guitar music and players and Don Felder is by far one of the elite guitar musicians. I knew little of him or the Eagles before reading his book, but am now one of his admiring fans. He is truly an amazing talent.

Excellent book. I am honestly not the biggest Eagles fan, while I do love their music, I wanted to find out the behind the scenes stories about such an iconic band, from one of its important members. Done before and after the Eagles lead a very honorable life, and his details about his time in the Eagles leaves no detail uncovered. Don is very honest and emotional about his experiences with the Eagles. Of course it is solely from his point of you, and you could see through his writing that there are definitely other sides to the story. At times Don can be his own worst enemy, trying to fight the two founding members of this band, even though he joined long before they were international superstars. Don deserves a lot of credit for shaping the classic eagle sound and cowriting such iconic songs as Hotel California. In the end he’s mostly self-aware about how his time in the Eagles came to an end. I truly enjoyed reading about Don’s life.

Great Read.... Wonderful, inside look at my favorite band. What could they have accomplished if they had liked each other?

A Good Read. Another in the dysfunctional band exposes and a little too whiny, “poor rich me”, but we’ll written and interesting.

Great book.. Bought this after Glenn Frey's passing and watching the 3 hour documentary. This book along with the documentary provides an in depth look at The Eagles and accounts for one of "many" sides to a story... The book is well written and even the childhood chapters are enjoyable (I do notice these being quite boring in biographies, especially when you just want to get to the meat and potatoes). The chance and habitstance growing up in Gainesville is super interesting and once the Eagles come into the fold, prepare to burn through each chapter... A must read. Thank you Mr. Felder!

Heaven and Hell. I really enjoyed this book. Thoughtfully written.

Eagles fan from TX. Now I want Frey, Henley and Irv's side of the story. Slow start but keep reading. Very much enjoyed it.

Great Book.. The book was much better then I thought it would be. Don Felder gives a very candid look behind the scenes of life with The Eagles. I have always been a Felder fan but this book gave me a real look at what life in the fast lane would be like. He tells the story of growing up dirt poor in Gainsville ,his struggle of growing up with his family and how luck and friendships turned his life around. I found myself telling my wife stories from the book at the dinner table. All in all its a great read. You,wont regret it.Well done Mr Felder.

Interesting. I found the book to be an interesting glimpse into an unforgettable period of time in my/the countries life. What a sad statement about greed and selfishness. The Eagles still include Don Felder, in my opinion. Without his brilliance on the guitar none of it would be possible....... Thanks for your honesty Mr. Felder.........

Heaven and Hell. Great read. I saw The Eagles documentary on tv and wanted to get Don Felder's side of the story. I got a lot more than that. If you are an Eagle's fan, then this book is a really good read. I will research and see if any of the other members have written an honest book of their experience as an Eagle.

Excellent behind the scenes of a rock star. Great book detailing the behind the scenes of a classic rock group. The highs and lows and really lows. Interesting to see the addiction to the lifestyle and fame even while Henley and Frey were treating him coldly in those later years.

Heaven and Hell. Enjoyed the great story of Don's journey!

Truth. It’s the age old story of pride, arrogance and greed. Well done!
