From a tea devotee to coffee aficionado. I've tended to prefer tea when it comes to my morning caffeine boost. Until now, that is. On the advice of some coffee-loving friends, I went on the hunt for a guide to the perfect home-brew (since I'm not willing to splash out on a Starbucks every morning). The book's format is innovative, and utilises the platform of the iPad to its fullest extent -- I love the listening features that accompany, and complement, your reading along the way. The content certainly holds up its end of the bargain as well, and if you follow the suggestions within these pages you'll be making phenomenal coffee at home in no time at all. Simply put: this book has everything you need to make the best coffee, and you'll never want to go back to a chain cafe again - can't recommend it enough.

Awesome guide for home brewing coffee. I used this as a guide for brewing with my Chemex at home. It was really helpful and offered some great advice I hadn't seen elsewhere. I'm looking forward to trying out some new methods of making coffee.

perfection. Fantastic! Everything you need to know about coffee--- authoritative but with a young, fresh voice. Loved the interactive aspects and fabulous music. It's just so cool. A foolproof way to make excellent coffee at home.

A wonderful prism. This tells a story larger than just coffee. PERFECT COFFEE AT HOME is a journey two Marines embarked upon as they found their way home. Coffee was necessary fuel through their training as Marines and as Infantry Officers. Coffee kept them going through their months as Weapons Platoon Commanders in Afghanistan. Coming home, the world looked a bit different to them. But discovering the art and science of coffee and sharing stories with friends over coffee created a beginning blueprint: the possibility of a different path, begun over a cup of coffee. Everything you need to know!!!. As you would expect from two marines, this book is incredibly comprehensive!! I was looking for a one stop shop to take my coffee at home to a new level (complete coffee beginner here!) and I can't be more satisfied with this book, $5 is a bargain!! Any questions I had were answered, and more importantly, several questions I did not even know to ask we're covered in a detailed yet understandable way. My burr grinder is on the way and I'm ready to put this golden ratio to work! .....nespresso will have to take up their grievances with the authors.....

A beautiful take on coffee. Perfect coffee at home is a creative and educational take on coffee, not only is there a vast amount of great information, these two marines have shared the information in an innovative and visual striking platform, and enjoy the jazz music that plays along!!!

Perfect Coffee is a perfect how-to. I am (was) a complete coffee novice, but after interacting ('reading' just doesn't cut it) with this book, and tasting how good I can make my own coffee, going back to Starbucks just seems wrong. These guys serve up the necessary nuts and bolts of coffee making with a fun and energetic style, all the while blending in both the science of coffee and beautiful jazz. Also, there are pretty pictures and videos! Enjoy

Surprisingly Interesting & Useful. I would have said that for the amount of effort I put into making a single cup of cup in the morning, I make as good a cup as can be expected. I no longer believe that. I am not sure why I bought this book, but I am happy I did; it was surprising interesting and surprisingly useful. It helps that the book is so well put together, that it is written in a light, very engaging style with a nice mix of self deprecating humor, and contains genuine, well earned advice. Seriously, I did not expect to learn so much about something I have been doing for 45 years. After investing so much in my cocktail hobby, I am not sure I can afford to go all in on my morning coffee, but I definitely intend to step it up a notch. Well done!

Coffee and Story. This is a quick yet fascinating look into the world of coffee. These authors are able to magnificently match their coffee-making advice with their personal story. I highly recommend this book to anybody that drinks coffee on a regular basis and wishes to make their experience a little more special!

Changed the way I brew. Thank you guys for writing this! Completely awesome. I'm totally getting a chemex after reading your section on pourovers. Gotta say I was a bit confused by the picture of the refractometer with the gun but it was still hilarious. And overall I love the vignettes and how it's about coffee and so much more. You guys have an amazing story. So much fun. And to anyone else out there looking to learn more about coffee you should definitely buy this book. You won't be disappointed by these two!

A new perception of Coffee. As an avid coffee drinker I always took my daily caffeine intake as part of a normal routine, without really thinking of the art that lies behind every grounded seed. This book changed and enhanced my views on the world of coffee, not only do Michael and Harrison give you an interactive step by step guide to brewing the perfect cup of Coffee, they explain the origins, stories and beauty of the intriguing world of coffee. This was a great read and a book that I will continue consult whenever I am brewing my own cup. Keep an eye out for these two great authors!

Inspired me to drink better coffee!. WOW! Amazing read. Before I read this, I'd always use my Keurig in the morning because it's easy and fast. I was never that happy with it though because the coffee is never that good and is always too thin. Perfect Coffee at Home, in addition to being a surprisingly entertaining and fast read, taught me in one of their many chapters how to cold brew my own iced coffee ahead of time. Now in the morning when I'm crunched for time I simply pour and go. Amazing coffee in 3 seconds flat -- all thanks to Perfect Coffee at Home. Would you rather spend $4.99 on one morning's iced coffee or on learning how to make delicious coffee you can enjoy forever? Definitely worth the price.

schooled a professional. As a coffee professional I have to say that this book really challenged me to make a better cup of coffee at home! It does an excellent job of explaining the basics of home brew and how to get the best cup even if you are a novice. Props to these two great dudes.

Now I can finally forget about that mundane coffee maker with a timer sitting on my kitchen counter. After you read this book, you'll never think of coffee making the same way again, seriously! Quality. Truly a quality product from two very interesting prior Marines. Once I opened it, I didn't put the book down. The book is cool, stylish, and interactive; it can be a continuous reference in learning how to brew. Felt as if I went from novice to professional barista after reading.

Best Book Ever Written. This is hands-down the best book ever written about coffee. It's extremely helpful, but also fun at the same time-- I don't know how they do it! Michael and Harrison really excel at writing about coffee at home! I can't wait to read this over and over again!

Brilliant. Not sure what is more compelling. The ebook itself, or the story of the authors themselves. Whether it is the content of the ebook or the character of the writers shining through, you will NOT be disappointed. Mr. Haft and Mr. Suarez masterfully took control of a difficult medium to produce (the ebook) and a wide ranging topic (coffee) and somehow blended the two better than what anyone could expect as their first foray into publishing. I certainly hope this is the first of many works by these two refreshing and brilliant authors!!

Brilliant Journey. Content and execution are wed in this book like when the artist and engineer collaborate to produce a practical, productive guide to joyful living. Steven Johnson writes in "The Invention of Air" that the true renaissance man of the eighteenth century developed in the coffee house culture of the time. " ... The public space of the coffeehouse served as the central hub of innovation of British society. How much of the Enlightenment do we owe to coffee? Most of the epic developments in England between 1650 and 1800... Have a coffeehouse lurking at some crucial juncture in their story. ...Newton's theory of gravity, the South Sea Bubble, etc..." Johnson declares elsewhere that the consumption of coffee to a large part offset the alcoholic inebriation of the general culture, replacing sloppy thought and action with precise, dynamic thoughts and intellectual collaborations that were also fueled into practical experimentation and execution by social coffee consumption! I don't think that Haft and Suarez were aware of this when they wrote their book, but they are an excellent example of the 21st century's own enlightenment era. From "2 eclectic guys who didn't always play by the rules" (and also filled honorable deployments as marine officers), I learned about: Biphasic Sleep (the condition under which I experienced this book last night after first becoming aware of it) The trade off between speed & excellence Techtvorm (Steve Jobs would have loved this device) Pareto learning curve (Pareto efficiency, etc.) a critical component of our Dailey functioning reality) Nothing worth doing comes easily (the opposite of most modern cultural offerings) Learning is continuous, there is always room to improve, explore and to innovate - it was our turn to participate - now it is yours! New ways of storytelling using text, sound, video and touch. How refreshing! I began by stating that this seemed to be the collaboration of an engineer and an artist to produce a practical example of the process of joyful living. I listened to great original jazz (included) as I read their honest, wisely practical text and viewed clear photos and illustrations regarding the topic. I learned, I laughed, I thought, I was entertained and I discovered some processes, principles and practices that I can apply to my productive way of life. All of this and I don't even drink coffee. Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez - thank you for this book and your lives! I can't wait to discover your next work, for certainly this is only the first chapter.
