Romantic and Heartbreaking. Rachel Van Dyken evokes such emotion and turmoil in your heart you will not be able to put the book down. She writes of a beautiful heartbreakingly tragic love that will definitely make you cry. I absolutely loved this book

I am Ruin(ed). I don’t leave book reviews. But this book? I laughed, I cried. I laughed some more, then I cried some more. I think this story will hit home for a few people, whether they are facing similar situations themselves or someone they love(ed). Read it!!

Laugh… Cry… Laugh More… SOB!!! REPEAT!!!. I had already become a fan of Rachel van Dyken through her DARK ONES series!!! And when I’d finished it, the RUIN series came up as suggested reading. I didn’t even read the synopsis of the 1st book RUIN!!! I just dove in… HEAD. FIRST. I didn’t care if I was diving into the deep or shallow!!! I’M. SO. GLAD. I. DID!!!!!!!! My review title isn’t an exaggeration!!!! RUIN LITERALLY had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to pee my pants just a few pages in!!!!!!!! And, it takes a lot to get me to that point, ESPECIALLY from a book!!!!! Then, before long, I was crying. Not just moist eyes!!! I was crying so hard that reading became Difficult. If not impossible!!!!!! Then… More laughter… More tears… More SOBS… More EMOTIONAL CATHARSIS!!!!!! All I can say is…. Do yourself a favor and and read this series!!!! You Will NOT be disappointed!!!!!!!!!! p.s. At 63 years young I’m DEFINITELY NOT in the target demographic for this series!!!!! But that does NOT change the fact that I am ABSOLUTELY loving it!! If your heart is open & hopeful, it won’t matter what the age of the characters is!!!!!! TRUE LOVE can blossom and THRIVE at ANY AGE!!!!!!!!!!!

Snot cried.. This was such a good book. It was amazing and heartbreaking and funny and just so good. Seriously incredible.

Fantasic!. When I first read this book, I cried so much for Wes in the hospital. Then the end came. It was so beautiful and so likable. I love this book and reread it sometimes. I highly recommend this book to others who like a college romance.

This book Ruined me.. I don’t write review but this needed to be said. DO NOT LET THE COVER PICTURE MISLEAD YOU. ITS A SIGNIFICANTLY DEEPER STORY THAN THE PICTURE PORTRAYS. I have never cried reading a book before. It took a long time to get through this book because I couldn’t stop crying at how amazing all of it was. The story is precious and triggering and told so beautifully. Every detail is incredible.

I’m not a massive fan of romance novels.. For a romance novel, I have to say it was a pretty good book. Obviously, I wouldn’t mind reading something else.

❤️James. I was really touched by this book. My husband had Hodgkins Lymphoma when I was pregnant with my first child. He had a very large tumor removed from his chest, close to his heart. I could feel for Kirsten and James. This is a beautiful story full of beautiful characters.

Faith will move mountains. This was the most amazing book I’ve ever read. It teaches us about hope and faith,Something that takes a lot of courage. My favorite part was the dedication. To anyone fighting a terminal disease God is always in control and to anyone who lost someone to it...it will get better.💜💜

Heartbreakingly Beautiful. Oh, Rachel! I picked this story today, through a random search, NEVER expecting to have my life forever changed. Such a moving novel. I cried every form of emotion through this story. Every character was amazing. I praised this on Instagram as well. This story has made my #1 list of must reads & re reads. La la love this. I am so glad you went with the ending you did. I pray for your uncle and hope all has turned out well. & I completely fan girled signing on here to leave a review and just saw that this is book #1 to a series and I'm off to buy the rest of the collection. Two thumbs way up!

Wow!!!!. Now that I have stopped crying I have to say that was an AMAZING story!!! Cancer touches so many of us and the touching moments in this story really hit home. This book is not the typical love story you find today. This is real. It is a journey of finding what is important and facing fears. I highly recommend.

I Became Queen of the Ugly Cry. I cried the entire time that I read this book. It was amazing. I read Ruin quite awhile back, and after the hundreds of books I’ve read since, it still stands out and sticks with me. It’s full of so much heart.

Absolutely amazing!. I never really read books, but I decided I wanted to sit back and read. As I was scrolling through books I came across this one. I read the reviews and thought what the heck. I have NEVER laughed and smiled and cried so hard from reading something in my entire life. If I can show this book to the world I would. It changes your perspective on a lot of things such as love, faith, hope, and most importantly to live your life as if it would be ruined in a second.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ehhh. It was OK. It was one of the free books I downloaded, read and deleted.

So so. This book was okay. To be honest there was a lot of stuff kind of thrown in as filler that didn’t really contribute. The idea of love and the way Wes spoke to her was beautiful and had a good message, but the rest of the story was kind of empty and didn’t really wow me.

Loved it!. I had a hard time putting this book down!

Tearjerker. Very good emotional love story. About hope and it's okay to be afraid and learn from your fears.

Awe...... I cried real tears! A great love story.

Love unabated.... Wow! I can't even begin to describe what an incredible story of hope and love this is. I love Wes and Keirsten son hard but Gabe and Lisa were just as awesome. I literally laughed out loud and cried at the same time. So heartfelt and well written.

What the heck?. To start with, there were quite a few elementary grammar mistakes. Misspelled words and misplaced punctuation. There was also a few times I got confused while reading because the narrative point of view would change with mistakes. And what was with the "Three months previous" prologue, that never occurred in the actual story? Very confusing!

Ruin. Wow! Wow! Loved the book! Best I’ve read in along time make sure you have your box of Kleenex handy. You really did a great job.

Romance in real life. I absolutely loved this book as I’m fighting a battle with unknown types of cancer now and I’m grateful for having read this book it makes me know I’m going to win no matter the outcome because I have my soulmate fighting right next to me thanks for writing a book that isn’t all fake romance but a more real feeling to it .

You Will Need Tissue!!!. You will laugh and you will cry. It has been a long time since I went through a box of Kleenex while reading a book. This book is so well written and the characters come to life right in front of you.

Wow. I laughed and cried sooo many times. What an amazing book.

PLEASE JUST READ!. I have never written a review in my life, but holy cow. I was a little “ehhh” on reading the book/series because the cover and all, I know don’t judge a book by its cover, but man am I glad I read it!! If you are looking in the review to see if you should read or not, READ IT! This has got to be one of my fav books I have ever read. You will laugh and you will cry... a lot. The character development is good, the dialogue is good, the way the author pulls emotions through the characters making the reader feel like they’re right there in the story too.... It’s great.

Ruin. This was an incredibly emotional ride. There were a few times I expected everything to go wrong and turn into a tragedy - but we do have an HEA, and this was one of the best New Adult romances I've read in a long time. That doesn't mean it wasn't perfect. There were a few places I rolled my eyes just a tad and said "Yeah right." But they were minor in comparison to the chemistry and love between Wes and Kiersten. An unlikely pair from the very beginning, it takes them a long time to realize they are more alike than anyone (even the reader) really thought. Rachel Van Dyken leads the reader on quite the ride trying to figure out what is going on with Wes, and have a box of tissues handy for when it all comes out. They are one of those couples that everyone seems to envy, and they are just so adorable together you sometimes want to get a little sick (but in a good way). There are some amazing friends in the story that really help bring out everyone's personality in a way that had me laughing right along with them. I want more "Wes Words of Wisdom" - that guy has some seriously good moments and speeches. I have put Rachel Van Dyken on my inta-buy list for new titles and she has quite the backlist for me to explore - I can't wait to start!

I never write reviews. Like the title says, I never do reviews but this book I just couldn’t not write one. This book made me feel everything the characters were feeling: happiness, sadness, love, heartbreak, everything. It isn’t just a book about a boy and a girl it’s a story that everyone can relate to and take advice from. I have read a couple hundred books in the past few months and this is one that I would highly recommend. Thank you RVD, you nailed this one.

Beautiful. This was a lovely story Had me in tears from start to finish.

4.5 Stars. Had I looked into this book a bit more before reading I would have realised it was a bit of a sobfest (well maybe quite a lot of a sobfest), and therefore I would not have read it. And what a shame that would have been! I would have missed out on an absolutely wonderful story, and it was a wonderful story, sobbing aside. The story follows college quarterback and mega rich boy Wes, and beautiful, shy Kiersten who is suffering from depression following the death of her parents. They meet on Kiersten's first day at college and an instant connection is made. Kiersten needs to live life to the full, Wes needs to live life before it's taken away from him. They're both lost souls in need of each other, will the strength they find in each other be enough? I fell completely in love with all the characters, relating to each and everyone. The writing was beautiful and I will definitely be reading more Rachel Van Dyken

Addicted reader. This has got to be one of the most inspiring books I have read for a very long time. The philosophy throughout is brilliant. Nuff said.

OMG!! Very emotional but very uplifting. Wow!! I cried. So, so moving. But I thought Wes' character was so uplifting. I started to worry about it getting depressing, but I have to say it really wasn't. I loved, loved, loved this book. ALSO, the author is donating sales from the book to Make a Wish campaign. So there's another good reason to buy the book.

nice plot... until you actually pay attention to the relationship nuances. "girl idk who hurt miss Rachel but this lady needs THERAPY!!! i'm all for some cute romance but her obsession with child like innocence in the female character and weirdly excessive use of the word "growl" when she's referring to men is NASTY. The whole over protective macho man possessive troupe is grossly overplayed to the point where it simply reads as creepy and excuse me WHAT is the obsession with rape and rape jokes miss ma'am?!?!?! At one point she genuinely wrote, and I quote, "I don’t care what girls say; no innocent chick goes into a relationship thinking it’s just a one-time thing unless they’re sluts. They expect forever.” LOL JUST SAY YOU HATE WOMEN AND MOVE ON!!!! god forbid a girl has any boundaries, experience or idea of what SHE wants... I never want to read the word lamb again at this point💀💀💀"

So so good. I could not put it down... yes you will cry and laugh and fall in love with both characters, most importantly it’s has got happy ending! What a beautiful story.... onto the next book now!

Inspiring. Let me start by saying I absolutely loved this story. Please keep that in mind when you read the review. I hated how this book gave me the feels. Kiersten and Wes' story was heartbreaking, gut wrenching and inspiring. I hated how I needed a box of tissues to read this story. I loved how it kept me guessing until the end. The writing from both Wes and Kiersten's perspectives was smooth, enlightening and engaging. It did not make the story stilted or pull you from the story. It flowed so effortlessly that you went with it without issue. The only issue I had was at times their relationship felt rushed, not enough to deduct stars. Favourite section was an interaction between Kiersten and Gage....(Condensed) "Wait. She's scared of Mickey?" "He sneezed in her face. Her princess hat fell off. She cried. It was a whole..... episode." Lead up and punch line...... Brilliant! Gage and Lisa were written in as secondary characters in a way where I cannot wait to read their stories. I hope they both are written into their relationships as seamlessly as Wes and Kiersten. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent. Wes had a secret he didn't want to tell. He wanted a normal life as long as he could but he didn't expect to fall in love. Kiersten didn't expect to fall in love with her RA but sometimes there are reasons why people come into your life. What they both didn't expect was to save each other from the darkness. Excellent story and I can't wait to read about the other characters.

Charming emotional. I didn't expect that, not sure what I expected though. Whilst the style of writing is pov of a 19-21 yo, it takes you through range of emotions. I was touched.

The reviewers have amazing persuasive skills. This book has some of the best quotes and dialogues I have ever read. It's humourous, heartbreaking and gives you the strength to just love life all at the same time. As much as I love the the characters dealing with their challenges and dialogues. I didn't find the whole story put together thoroughly. It seemed rushed and the unorganised. Many parts of the story could be elaborated, in fact most should. A lot of the times, I have to remind myself that this is going to be "the book" to take my breath away , read it with 100% concentration. That just didn't happen to me... But for $1.99, it's not a waste of money.
