Everything You Need to Know!. John nails it once again and gives the reader a clear and concise guide to everything that they need to know before taking on Mavericks.

So, so good.. Wonderful description of Mavericks. John adds wonderful long-term perspective (he’s been doing this for a long time) and excellent opinionated commentary. I laughed out lound a few times and was smiling so much while reading the final paragraph. Thank you John for doing this for us.

Excellent review.. Extremely informative.

Another Gem. Another gem from Siracusa. Support John buy purchasing the book.

Simply delightful.. A pleasure to digest.

nothing better. Siracusa does it again.

Doesn't get much better….. A new Siracusa review is an event almost unto itself. John shows everyone how an OS should be ripped apart and examined. Plus he generously peppers his reviews with his wry dry wit and copious screenshots and inside jokes. I eagerly await every release with a nice single malt and some light jazz.

Siracusa knocks it out of the park… again. John Siracusa’s annual epic-length OS X review is by now an institution, but a welcome one. His keen eye for detail, encyclopedic knowledge of previous versions of OS X, accessible writing style and dry wit mean that whilst this review is ridiculously detailed, it’s also actually fun to read, especially if you care about the subject matter. Money well spent - not in the least because I feel Siracusa’s efforts should be supported - and highly recommended. Long may the Siracusa OS X review tradition continue.

The King Returns. John nails it as usual.

ANOTHER TITLE THAT TALKS IN GENERALITIES. I have bought several eBooks and iBooks in an effort to learn MAC OS. So far, the majority, like this one talk in general about the changes in Mavericks and the new features without ever getting down to telling you exactly how to do anything. It will be refreshing when I get to an ebook or ibook that actuallly tells me how to get something done. like: FIRST DO THIS, THEN…..

Great read!. I am a first time reader of this author and was extremely impressed. I will be looking for more works by John.

Another winner in a long line of reviews. John’s perspective and analysis is un-paralleled. Read this review.

Great annual tradition. The formatting of this ebook is finally right when compared to last years dreadful Kindle version. Images are in there proper place with corresponding subtitles. And clicking on the images allows you to zoom in and carefully examine the minutia, much in the same way that Siracusa does when writing the review. I found reading on the iPad (black background, horizontal and in scrolling mode) to be a much more immersive experience when compared to the website edition. Hyperlinks quickly take you to Safari and a quick 4-finger swipe gets you right back to your reading. Bravo John. Keep the annual tradition coming!

The measure to which all others need measure. This is the definitive review. If not only because he didn't throw the raccoon away...

John does it again. John Siracusa's reviews are sometimes described as "comprehensive". While it's true that they are always an impressive length, I find that their greatest strength is that John manages to sift through all the miscellaneous changes and do a deep dive on the changes that are most salient. The key topics John touches on in this review are related to Mavericks's myriad of power saving features, along with some interesting explorations of how new features like tags are implemented. If you are an Apple nerd, this is a must-read.

Yearly release?. Siracusa wonders if yearly releases are hampering Apple from truly revolutionizing OS X standbys like the Finder. I wonder what Siracusa's razor sharp yearly focus to one of the least exciting things coming out of Cupertino, is keeping him from. It really says something that it took me a month to finish this review, pouring over every link and detail. Without doubt, these yearly reviews are worth their weight in gold to anyone with a genuine interest in not only OS X but what Apple is thinking behind the scenes. I just wonder what else Siracusa could do if he slept a bit more and put those thousand hours of writing towards something new between WWDC and the end of fall each year.

John Siracusa's Annual Tour de Force. There is no amount of reviewing this review that can convey how excellent it is. While John avows that the web version is canonical, this is a great way to support his efforts. Get with the program, folks.

Worth it. The review costs more than the upgrade, but as always, it is worth it.

The King of OS X Reviews. After reading all of Siracusa's reviews since 10.3, I had high expectations for the newest installment. Absolutely was not disappointed!

Great to read just after installation. It was great to buy this book and read it after the computer finished upgrading. You can follow along each chapter now that we have iBooks on OS X. John seemed to cover all the importants bits of the OS - and the book paid for itself by pointing out the Control+Cmd+Space shortcut. 🐱 My only wish that he spent some time advising on good tagging strategies. Between sidebar links, smart folders, and now tabs and tags, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to organize all my junk!

Superb, in depth review. You don't have to be tech savvy to read this - but it, and the author, helps. Lots of detailed analysis and clever insights as well as a humorous writing style. Easily worth the low price.

Siracusa’s must-have is gorgeous on iBooks!. Installing the latest OS X and reading Siracusa’s review are inseparable actions for me :) I bought the Kindle edition last time (eeeek!) and am so much happier with having bought the iBooks version this time. Reading is smooth, all screenshots can be double clicked, the many links open smoothly in Safari. Yes, the links. Ueber-Geek John Siracusa has hundreds of them. If you must know what he wrote on a topic in 2005, you can just click on a link. He won’t bore you with those details in the review, but if you need to look into them you can. I love John’s writing. He is venomous, precise, relentless, funny, authoritative, and strangely never boring. Strangely so, as nobody else (nobody else famous, anyway) dares to go into such detail. Updating OS X without reading Siracusa means wasting a lot of potential and cheating yourself out of a good laugh. Invest the time - it’s worth it. And get the iBooks edition - it’s just soooo smooth.

Worth it. So good. I've been reading every single one of these reviews since Snow Leopard. Any plans to publish the previous ones on iBooks?

Can't go wrong with John.. The depth of John's knowledge plus an amusing and very easy-to-read style make this a winner.
