No Hero by Mark Owen & Kevin Maurer Book Summary

The companion volume to the multimillion-copy bestseller No Easy Day by former Navy SEAL Mark Owen reveals the evolution of a SEAL Team Six operator.

Mark Owen’s instant #1 New York Times bestseller, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden, focused on the high-profile targets and headline-grabbing chapters of the author’s thirteen years as a Navy SEAL. His follow-up, No Hero, is an account of Owen’s most personally meaningful missions, missions that never made headlines, including the moments in which he learned the most about himself and his teammates in both success and failure.

Featuring stories from the training ground to the battlefield, No Hero offers readers a never-before-seen close-up view of the experiences and values that make Mark Owen and the SEALs he served with capable of executing the missions that make history.

Life lessons shared. First let me thank Mr. Owen for his service and his continued courage to write this book. The book is a great story about some of the missions the SEAL's were on in Iraq and Afghanistan. It reveals how their training kicks in when the situation gets stressful. But more importantly it teaches the reader the sort of mental toughness and techniques they develop to perform and succeed at a high level. It stresses life long learning. All the things Mr. Owen is sharing with his readers are skills and capabilities that will make one successful in civilian life as well. On a final note, the DOD and the Navy should be ashamed to be treating Mr. Owen the way they are.

Great read giving insight into the make up and sacrifice of Navy Seals. Having read No Easy Day which gives first hand insight to the raid that killed Bin Laden I knew as soon as I saw that Mark Owen had written another book about life in the Navy Seals that I would have to have No Hero as well. In similar fashion Mark covers as much as permitted the life he experienced in the Seal teams. However I have one major disagreement with Mark. To me, all of these men and women who serve our country are true heroes. Not the sports stars, not the musicians and certainly not the Hollywood actors. Those serving in the military and their families are the true heroes. Their sacrifice even at the cost of their lives help to protect the rest of us and by their volunteering makes it so we don't have to fight.

Can't Wait For This New Book. No Easy Day was amazing with all the detail of the mission and all the sacrifices a SEAL makes that many people at home take for granted. At the end of the day we all are nothing without them and the book really shows the heart and mentality of an incredible collection of people willing to sacrifice themselves for something bigger.

No Hero. Certainly enjoyed. Not many books have I looked forward to getting home from work to read. I want to thank the author for sharing his life experiences and his service to our country. Jim Ford

Decent honest book of u.s. Seals. Honest straight forward book of SEALS and their lives and special ops.

Old Navy. This book goes against all Tier 1 operators credo of silent professionalism and could compromise moral and opsec in the field for those still in the field. Trash book anyway...

Good Life Lessons. Excellent book that distills a selection of harrowing death defying moments/missions into life lessons however I am skeptical as to whether 98%+ could benefit from this because aside from these guys being the very Best of the Very Best, most who read these type of books are just sheep in the heard and go through life just hoping to have a job next year this time. That said, what Owens speaks of, mentally and psychologically wise, an individual either has this ingrained in them or they don't. It ain't a matter of reading a book, having an "aha" moment, and tomorrow at work your gonna put your job and career on the line to assist a co-worker in need. Also, thanks for your service Delta!! God Bless Stay Safe & God Speed...RPJ II

Great read. Just as good as the first book!

Incredible. Glimpses inside the life of tier one special operation forces servicemen are quite rare, and this one more than lived up to expectations. If there is any pair of books you read about US special forces, No Easy Day and this should be it.

Pretty much the same story again and again. If you have read "No Easy Day" you will see in this book where they have just copied and pasted some excerpts from that book. I was disappointed with the stories, it was pretty much talking about the raids he went on which are all similar in nature. Disappointed after waiting for so long.

Great Book. This is a great read. It is different in that it gives an intense, minute to minute, moment by moment breakdown of a SEAL's career in general and some serious close quarters battles from different deployments. I seriously hope no one is giving this guy a hard time for writing this book. The public deserves to know and the writer seems like a good dude!

Nice Follow-up. Very captivating read. Although not as good as No Easy Day it was still hard to put down. Similar to the American Sniper but had more of a emotional feel to it. Don't get me wrong American Sniper was excellent but I thought No Hero was a little more personal. I haven't read a book in over 30 years but mowed through all three in the last week. The subject matter is interesting and really depicts the sacrifices our servicemen and women make to ensure our freedom.

It's Like Sitting At A Bar With The Author. Both of Mark Owen's books (NO EASY DAY & NO HERO) were extremely easy reads for me, taking less than a week for each book. The way he writes is as if you're sitting at the bar listening to him share his stories and experiences over some cold ones. NO HERO takes a more specific look at the mistakes and lessons learned (both on & off the battlefield) that have helped mold the author into the individual that he is today. I believe he's done an extraordinary job showing credit where it's due and explaining the "soldiers mentality", making it HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone curious about what life is like as a [special operations] soldier, and an ABSOLUTE MUST READ to anyone aspiring to become one of the elite. To Mr. Owen, Thank you for leading by example and writing a great book…..and not being a total D-Bag about it.

As a real Navy SEAL.... I've been in the Teams for 15 years and on behalf of everyone in my platoon I just want to say that we hate this. I love how guys get out of the Teams, write these books, and leave the rest of us who are actually still deploying left to have to deal with the constant comments made by our Green Beret counterparts down range. I think it's funny and tragic but there is some truth when the Greenie Beanies joke about not letting us into their SCIF because we may put it into our book or movie. I know civilians enjoy getting a peek into our world, and that is fine, but just know that the majority of Team guys can't stand this crap and don't support it.

No Hero. Excellent read. Second book I've read by Mark Owen and it's just as much a page turner as "No Easy Day". It gives you a very descriptive account of events and is written in a way that is easily understood. If you read this Mr. Owen, thank you and all the members of the Unites States military for making sacrifices for this beautiful nation. U.S.A.!!

Get The Other Book. Weak attempt to cash in on fleeting "popularity".

Good read... Some redundancy. While not 5 stars like No Easy day, this was a good read. Author repeated a lot of references from the last book, and it was not as original. Still entertaining though... Author is an amazing person and national hero.

Great book. Amazing story. I hope he writes another book like this. Great lessons and a great person. Thank you for your service

Excellent follow up to no easy day. Great insight into the life of a navy seal.
