Hushabye (A Kate Redman Mystery: Book 1) - Celina Grace Reviews

  • HUSHABYE more rock-and-roll than lullaby

HUSHABYE sets its own pace and then the story gathers speed, swirving through its twists and turns — rushing to a climax that is quite believable. tragic though it is. Ms. Grace develops bruised characters that are both troubled and troubling. The author’s main character — DS Redman — seems in a race with her own demons. She finds that investigating the key suspects in a kidnapping/double murder case stir up her own demons. And once her demons are unleashed, DS Redman finds her objectivity clouded and her emotions on overdrive. As the pace increased and as DS Redman sprinted to keep up, I found myself unable to put the book down. I like the police characters and their interactions. I’m looking forward to the next case! I read several samples of this author's other writings after reading this book, and I believe I have found a new favorite to add to my bookshelves. Her style of writing is flawless, for lack of a better word. She creates haunting images that just stay in your mind. I admit to a few bouts of tears during this reading. Looking forward to reading further into this series, as well as Lost Girls.

It was a little slow for me but then the language was there and that was enough for me to stop.
