Requiem by Celina Grace Book Summary

The girl's body lay on the riverbank, her arms outflung. Her blonde hair lay in matted clumps, shockingly pale against the muddy bank. Her face was like a porcelain sculpture that had been broken and glued back together: grey cracks were visible under the white sheen of her dead skin. Her lips were so blue they could have been traced in ink.

When the body of troubled teenager Elodie Duncan is pulled from the river in Abbeyford, the case is at first assumed to be a straightforward suicide. Detective Sergeant Kate Redman is shocked to discover that she'd met the victim the night before her death, introduced by Kate's younger brother Jay. As the case develops, it becomes clear that Elodie was murdered. A talented young musician, Elodie had been keeping some strange company and was hiding her own dark secrets.

As the list of suspects begin to grow, so do the questions. What is the significance of the painting Elodie modelled for? Who is the man who was seen with her on the night of her death? Is there any connection with another student's death at the exclusive musical college that Elodie attended?

As Kate and her partner Detective Sergeant Mark Olbeck attempt to unravel the mystery, the dark undercurrents of the case threaten those whom Kate holds most dear…

Requiem (A Kate Redman mystery) is the second in the bestselling Kate Redman Mysteries series, from crime writer Celina Grace, author of Hushabye (A Kate Redman Mystery: Book 1), Lost Girls and The House on Fever Street.

Great Read!. I couldn't put it down. Well written. Tight storyline. Good development of characters. Looking forward to more. Registering on her website!

Requiem. I originally felt this story got off to a very slow start. However, once the crime was discovered, things start to move along physically, and for Kate, emotionally. From that point forward the story picked up pace and through some interesting ebbs and highs reached a very surprising and shocking conclusion. I was not at all expecting how this story concluded. A good smooth read, as usual from this author. I am in no way a professional reviewer, but I felt there was perhaps a little too much about Kate's problems from her youth. Just my opinion. Otherwise a great plot, good use of the characters, and not so many that the reader became confused trying to remember who each one was. Looking forward to the next book to read about their newest exploits. RET. LT.

Requiem. Fabulous, intricate story and good character development. Excellent!

Kate Redman #2 Mystery Series. A new author for me. Thought I really didn't like it but would give it a better chance and kept on reading. Turned out to be a great read! Loved it and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Page turner. I couldn't put it down. Now I want to read the series.

Requiem. Great details. The characters seemed very real. The book actually made me think I was actually watching the story as if in a movie theater. Keep up the excellent entertainment. Thanks for a great read.

Getting Hooked. I had been looking for a Murder Mystery Series, but I was afraid that Ms. Grace's books were going to be too short to hold my interest and make them worth my while. Oh, how I was wrong. Instead, I can not put them down. I thought I would always be able to solve them, the clues were there, and I've come close, I've not solved one yet. I'll keep trying.

Requium, A Kate Redman Mystery. The storyline was good, I liked the characters, but it would have been so much better if the language wasn't in it. There are still people who don't use bad lanquage, and don't want to read/hear it!

Requiem. Great read, the whole series so far is entertaining.

Requiem. A good police detective mystery!

Helpful Review. I always read reviews before downloading a book. The moment I read about foul language, I'm done. No, I am not a prude, but a good writer knows how to get the point across using wonderful and plentiful verbiage of our English language. Thanks to those who share this information.

The plot's the thing. I am an avid Celina Grace fan and particularly like her plots. This one packs a huge punch into a manageable length. It's very twisty and fleshes out Kate's character even more.

Great Series. Exceptionally well written and plotted. Just bought the next five in the series.

Requiem. A real page turner, loved it, L.F.

Requiem. A very good book. Not too hard core.

REQUIEM. Kate’s brother is an artist, giving her his latest one, of a girl laying in the river mud. Wanting to celebrate Kate moving into her house, and to hear the model, which also happens to be a great singer. The next day, a murder, which shocks Kate, the scene, and person is of her painting. Should she say anything about the painting, Jay didn’t come back and sleep at her place. Notifying parents, the girl had been different, argumentative the last few months. This case takes a turn that catches so many people.People guilty of a love that was wrong, of jealousy, scars from their past. Young, feeling unloved, their story will touch the readers.

“Requiem” by Celina Grace is one. of those mysteries that this reader could not put down. After Kate, Mark and the entire team interview many people involved in the murder victim’s life, the only missing piece of the puzzle is real evidence-that invisible ‘instinctive thing’ that Kate senses is just below the surface or on the screen. One piece of evidence leads to the next, with nothing but the cleverest ‘copper’ minds putting everything together. Just when the reader agrees with the actions of certain characters, other great minds put all the ‘seedy’ information together and SURPRISE-the real truth is revealed! Thanks to Celina Grace for creating another unforgettable mystery!!—Jan Farrell Repath

Requiem. Believable, three dimensional characters. Great, unique plot. Hard to put down.

Better than the first. For some reason I enjoyed the second more than the first. Thinking about purchasing the 3rd but kinda leery. I enjoyed the few hours it took to read this book. Glad it wasn't to long.

Helpful Info. I always read the reviews before downloading a book, & since I agree with Dilywi, I won't be reading this one. I also thank those who share their information.

I read it in one sitting. I'm in the back seat of a rented minivan on my way to a wake. Between me and two intelligent humans in front are a toddler, who inexplicably offended by some minuscule indicator light on the ceiling panel has been pointing at it and shrieking baby invectives for the last seven hours. Directly ahead of me, a pre-schooler becomes three-bags carsick and off and on yucks and upchucks. His mother (finally) turns off Brainiacs, which has been echoing through the car's interior from the DVD player. My beloved husband periodically sags over in his sleep into my very limited space, And with all that going around me I became so engrossed in this wonderful book that I didn't notice anything else. Incredibly woven, its twists and turns kept me guessing and page-turning until the very end. I'd say it's a must-read!

Requiem. This was a good, quick read. Kept me interested but didn't drag on endlessly.

Requiem. I loved it. Read it in one sitting. I'm getting to be a fan. I've read three of her books and they keep getting better.

Requiem. Really enjoyed the book-kept you guessing right to the end and made you empathise with all the characters.

Requiem. Addicted

Requiem. Kate Redman is a protagonist of note and her fellow characters all come together to create a 'really good read'. The twists and turns of the plot very definitely keep the reader on their toes. Would definitely recommend

Excellant. Just the right length Loved it

Great Story. That kept me turning the pages......

Nice enough book. Glad I didn't pay for it, the story line was good however they have twisted up the ending a bit too much for my liking. Nice time passing novel however

Riveting. A good read. You'll enjoy the twist and turn. And when you thought you guessed the killer, you'll feel aghast when you find out. A great start to read the whole series. The author keeps you guessing.

Thoroughly enjoyed!!. Read in one sitting. I like how the characters are building with each book. Nice concise storyline with a satisfying ending.

Requiem. I enjoyed the story. I liked the easy telling of the plot. I just wish that authors would not blaspheme / use the name of God and Christ so glibly.

Requiem. Another great read,am enjoying the whole series. Keep it up Thank's

Great book written with good insight. This was my first book of this series to read and I found it to be a good book that showed good insight into both work practices and the psychology of the victims and perpetrators. A good read.

Great characters. I found the story a little slow. The "OMG I've got it" moment wasn't well developed. Many characters were underdeveloped. The Kate Redman series is usually a really good read.

Requim. Love this series. Very enjoyable Just finished third book in this series in less then a week.
