The Academy - Thief Book Summary

Thief is the first book in The Academy Scarab Beetle Series.

Kayli Winchester is a dirt-poor girl living out of a hotel, forced to be the parent for a drunken father and teenage brother who she's desperate to keep in school. The only way she scrapes by is to utilize her one skill: pickpocketing. But even though she's a thief she has a moral code: no kids or old ladies, only targets who can defend themselves. Not that they see her coming…
Thinking she's been working under the radar, Kayli has no idea The Academy has been watching and taking notice. Now a team that needs her skill has offered her a way out of her predicament and it's her last chance: work with them, or face jail time. Kayli resists at first, but slowly the boys reveal they can be trusted. With Marc, the straight man, Raven, the bad-boy Russian, Corey and Brandon the twins as different as night and day, and Axel their stoic leader, there's a lot Kayli can learn from these Academy guys about living on the edge of the law. If only she can stay on the good side instead of the bad.

Especially when the job they offer her is more than any of them bargained for. After it's done, the hunters have become the hunted and their target is now after Kayli. The Academy boys do their best to keep her hidden, but a thief like Kayli will never sit still for long.

Meet an all-new Academy team in Thief, the beginning of the Scarab Beetle series.

Warning: This is a new adult series. Readers of the other Academy series may need some caution as this series will contain mature sexual and violent situations and themes.

The Academy - Thief - C. L. Stone Book Reviews

  • The Academy (Crazy not lazy)

I gave it 3 stars. I thought it was confusing with not clear-cut direction
  • I’m too biased. (mimiarriaga93)

I tried to get into this book and there were parts I really liked but the whole time I kept comparing her to Sang. I know they’re not meant to have similar personalities and of course Kayli is supposed to be her own character but I couldn’t help it.
  • A Shame (NS5680)

This story has potential, but the main character is an 18 year old girl who makes out with several young men throughout the book. She hops around from bed to bed and just can’t decide which hot guy she wants to let feel her up permanently. It’s just too much.
  • The academy thief (rue & rock)

Good book. At the end I wanted to read book two!
  • The thief by C L Stone (Blacksheep ;))

I loved the characters! Kayli is Darling and I can see why everyone fell for her. I can't wait to read more.
  • Amazing (lockwood34)

I just finished the last book and this series was one of my favorite
  • Intriguing (Ursulam531)

Plot was different! Loved the twists and turns! The series will be interesting to finish!
  • The Academy-Thief (Dotti Smith)

    Very interesting.
  • Awesome (Bussy D)

Loved all the characters. Loved the story and the interactions
  • MUST READ (Emvenezia)

I love books, and am extremely cynical in judgement, but I love the entire Academy series. I've read all the books and will for many more. C. L. Stone is a godsend. More creative, beautiful books like these need to be written. Thank you for writing The Academy.

The Academy - Thief - C. L. Stone Book Reviews

  • The Academy Thief (maryrola)

This book was way too long. It was fine when there was action, but there were so many places where it just dragged on and on that I often wanted to just give up. I will not be reading the sequels.
  • Love (Mikhaila96)

I haven't even read it all and I'm in love with it. Will have to save up for your other books 😁😍
