Shadows of the Ancients by Christine Michelle Book Summary

Have you ever been so stubborn that you failed at something?
Yeah? Me too!
I hail from an ancient line of werewolves, so you’d think being me would be easy. If only two very important things were not standing in my way.
ONE:
Zach Brighton - my betrothed.
TWO:
My wolf was very different!
Everyone said I should be happy he still wanted me. I was not.
Then, I met someone else, a mystery man who changed everything, but held secrets of his own that threatened his ability to claim me.
Maybe I wasn’t meant to be claimed.
Maybe I was broken.
Or Maybe, I was just waiting for my new life to catch up.

This is book ONE of The Ancients Series. This paranormal romantic suspense story MUST be read in order. The main character's story concludes in book 4, but all four of those books are already available!
1 - Shadows of the Ancients
2 - Falling into the White
3 - Branches of the Willow
4 - Bound by the Moon

*Note: This book was originally released on Mar. 28, 2014. It has been updated, given a new cover, and is listed as a 2nd edition. If you previously downloaded this book, you should be able to update it and no further purchase will be required.

~*~*~*~*~*~ REVIEW ~*~*~*~*~*~
5 - Stars from Author J. Kirsch - One sexy, witty, enticingly snarky wolf girl? Check. A unique take on werewolf power and relationship dynamics? Check. This is an overall fun read with dialogue that will have you laughing out loud at times and raising your eyebrows at others. In one evening I ran across this deliciously wolfy paranormal book, and a few hours later I had to buy book #2 and #3 in the series. Yes, it's THAT good. If you like Patricia Briggs or Jeaniene Frost, you will enjoy Ms. Butler's writing.

Great story. I love it... It very different :)

FUN READ!. After coming down from the addiciton that was The Grey Wolves Series, this author lends more "adult" detail to its fun, fast paced story line. LOVING the strong female characters. Thanks to her writing style, Christine Bulter is becoming one of my preferred authors. Can't wait for the rest of these books!

Excellent read!. An awesome storyline with unique twists and turns!!! Loved this and can't wait to read the rest! Plus we SC girls gotta stick together!!!

Loved it. It was a great story

Good book. There were some grammatical errors (which is my biggest pet peeve so don't feel too bad) but other than that the story had a well written plot with a lot of detail and it was easy to love the main character. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book

Editing and proofreading. Kept me reading but is littered with typos and grammatical errors.

Eh. Was seemingly a good story which is why I read it in the first place and I like stuff about werewolves, but the writing wasn't great. Things like using the same adjective twice in the same sentence which doesn't sound that annoying, but as soon as you start noticing stuff you cant stop. The author said stuff that could have been inferred and the main character would think something and then actually repeat it when speaking when we could of just assumed she had been thinking it before she said it. You’d get it after reading it. This is basically why it is a free book instead of costing money. Like there was no editor and some letters were left ot her and ther. Also I feel like the author didn't do as much with the story as she could of she made the world on werewolves seem so similar to ours, but emphasized that Jess’s situation was different and they didn't really interact. She could have gone so far as to make new different terms that the werewolves had that were different then us as with any secluded culture yet she didn't get so imaginative which kind of made it disappointing. Also also, (spoiler sort of) the love story was kind of predictable. One of them is not so sure about the relationship in the beginning, eventually they get comfortable together and they are made for each other then one screws up, but eventually they make up. And of course one of them has to get injured because how else are you going to test their love for each other? When Jess and Ash were walking to the club themselves and were attacked PREDICTABLE. When they caught Zach after his pathetic attack but the danger wasn't actually over PREDICTABLE. And the introduction of a new love interest at the end was honestly too forced and the author was trying too hard to make us rethink Evan. Like the whole book you’re convincing us he’s the perfect guy and then suddenly oh he runs out on her like a child throwing a tantrum because of his father which in my opinion, after getting to know the character, he wouldn't have done. He probably would have fought his brother, but you're trying to make him seem worse so that people welcome the new interest. The fact the Ashley was all “he was trying to keep you safe see it from his perspective” the first time he screwed up but then later analyzing everything he did and convincing Jess that maybe he wasn't the best guy is frankly making her seem bipolar. I could go on but you get the point maybe read if you have nothing better to do? Im certainly not actually spending money on more of this authors work and you shouldn't either the “cliffhanger” at the end really isn’t intriguing enough to put up with more of this.

Shadows of the Ancients-. I’m writing this (5 STAR) review for two reasons. First this book is simply beyond amazing and incredibly well-written. Second I’ve read all in the series and they just keep getting more and more outstanding as the story line progresses. I am an uncle in his 60’s who shares books back and forth with my amazing (15) year old niece, and these are in our most favorites- if we could give a rating higher than a (5) we would. Check this 1st one out and u will see exactly what we mean! 👍👏👊 Can’t wait to read more from this author. Thanks soooo much, Uncle Jim

Amateurish Spelling Errors. Amateurish spelling errors are hugely distracting. Learn the difference between “reign” and “rein”. A room is a “suite”, not a “sweet”. Mistakes with “you’re” and “your”. I thought this was written by a talented teenager until I got to the end and read that the author has children. Hire a proofreader and editor.

Aaaaamazing. This book is so awesome. Honestly after I finished it my immediate reaction was, this should be a movie. I highly recommend it. It's just amazing

Shadows of the Ancients. Christine M. Butler Y. Shadows of the Ancients 6/10 Free iBook. Jess is a werewolf, one of the Lesser kind - who mix their blood with humans. She sees Evan in a club and is blown away by his power. He is one of the Ancient (pure blood) and he marks her as his by rubbing his face on hers. His father is King, and when the king learns that Jess is actually a pure blood Ancient and the White Wolf (to be the exulted female ruler), he uses his power to force Jess to equally date his older so as well as Gs youngest son. So the next book is to be a tiresome love triangle. I won't read it.

Fair read, draws you in. I would rate this more except for the poor grammar, poor spelling and obvious lack of a professional proofreader or editor.

Good story. This is a good story, let down by poor grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Some sentences I just skipped over, as they made no sense. When I pay for a book, I expect it to be proof read. This series obviously wasn’t.

Significance series meets Becoming Alpha. This a good plot and the author did well to write it, but I thought she could have given the reader more info on being a wolf in her world. Still, i liked the way she wrote it and recommend this Young Adult for those who have read Shelly Crane or Aileen Erin.
