Aurora. Absolutely in my top ten favorite sci-fi reads. I have just enjoyed it for a second time.

True hard scifi with nuance and heart. Couldn't put down, no gimmicks or silliness, hard science and great storytelling with people who feel and things that matter.

More science than fiction. The amount of research that went into this book — agriculture, biology, gravitational computation, ecology — is really impressive. Flat characters, that are a bit unlikeable, and stale dialogue become a bit of a distraction at times — but a computer AI that is completely lovable and an exceptional ending make any small matters seem insignificant.

Just perfect. It’s not just the message, but the pacing and tone of this novel make it KSM’s best work in years

Aurora. The book raises legitimate ethical and logistical questions about the project of interstellar colonization by humans. Incredibly well researched in a huge number of areas. One reviewer that I’ve read so far complained about the narrative voice… I found it convincing as what one would experience from an AI gradually learning how humans tell stories. The final chapter, not in the AI’s POV, is pure Robinson.

A poignant story wrapped inside a roller coaster ride. Every time I read this author's work I feel like I'm blessed to get a glimpse at possible future which obviously I won't live to see, but still get to experience through his writing. The chapter titled "The Hard Problem" is just phenomenal in its creativity and execution.

Possibly KSR's Best. There are very few books I would read over again - four come to mind, Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy and now Aurora. IMHO Robinson is perhaps the greatest Sci-fi writer since Robert Heinlein as both are writers that probe thought provoking ideas and philosophies that go far beyond the constraints of the genre. The AI "ship" in Aurora echoes Heinlein's omniscient and almost-human AI Mike in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, tugging at the reader's heart at the same time that it brings a smile. When a writer can bring that kind of empathy and pathos to an entity like this, he is truly arrived as a master of his craft. Two thumbs up for a Hugo award!

Was good. Have read a lot of his books, had some definite twists was a bit of a downer (spoiler alert) that there were issues with colony

Depressing, Depressing, Depressing. What was Kim Stanley Robinson going through in his personal life when he wrote this book? What a dark, dystopic, depressing story full of death, failure, loss and hopelessness for the future of the human race. A complete opposite of his wonderful Mars trilogy.
