438 days. I hate reading. I haven't read a book in 20 years. In fact, I've never read a book voluntarily on my own, ever. This was a first for me. I've read books in high school where I was forced to (20 years ago), but never have I voluntarily read a book. That changed when I saw this book. I saw a news story about this book. I then bought this book. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading. The man in this book that survived is a true survivalist--more than any man survival tv show stars. This man is the survival genius.

If you like survival of the human spirit…. …then this book is for you. Excellent. The adaptation of the human brain in some people to adjust to certain potentially deadly situations, is amazing to me. Couldn’t put it down.

Incredible. The account of Salvador Alveranga surviving 438 days adrift at sea. I’m so thankful he was willing to work with the author to share his story. Honored to have read this.

I couldn’t put it down. If you love against-the-odds tales of survival you will love this one. I loved it, and it was partially the typical “wow what a story” but also the hero of the tale and his unique personality that made it so interesting.
