Getting Lucky Number Seven. There is nothing I didnā€™t LOVE about this book. The characters were so fun and endearing. The sex scenes were NOT explicit to the point of ridiculous. The writer did an amazing job of showing the pain and love the characters felt. I WILL DEFINITELY BUY MORE FROM THIS AUTHOR !!!!! DEFINITELY

What's Your Lucky Number?. Lyla Wilder and Beckett Davenport started being friends in a science class of all places. They have learned that they like each other in a platonic way. Sunday night is all about movies and ice cream, and a good friend to share it with. Lyla is very smart. She just has no real fashion going on ā€“ she hides her body because her mother told her to. She has to work extra hard, since she does not want to lose her scholarship. She also likes Beck, since he is the only college boy she trusts. He is her friend and the one she goes to if she needs a shoulder to cry on. Beck realizes he really wants to be the friend Lyla needs him to be. He will help her with her lists, be her protector at parties, and try not to think about those amazing legs she is suddenly showing off. He is a hockey player with secrets. Lyla wants to be noticed for her brains and not her body. She has also learned the hard way that with boys ā€“ brains must make take second place. She is shot down by smart guys that she honestly thought would appreciate her intelligence. She decides to make a list and asks Beck to help her get through it. On her list are things she thinks all freshmen in college should experience. Beck has no problem being there for Lyla. Lately though, he has noticed he wants to puch out all the guys who are ā€œchecking her out.ā€ He wants the best for her and he is suddenly thinking that it might be him. Can he share his past with her and still remain friends? Will the thought of them together turn her away? Lyla can hardly believe Beck is interested in her in any other way than friendship. He offers to help her with her list and they become more than friends. They both are learning that having someone who knows your true self is gift that is priceless. I love the characters in this book! Lyla and Beck are so good together that even others see it. Love and friendship tend to go together and I am a true believer that it makes a relationship better to have that friend base there first. ***This ARC copy was given FREE for review purposes from Netgalley.com and the publisher. College friends-to-Lovers Rom-Com. Score: 4.3Ā . GETTING LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN by Cindi Madsen April 28, 2015 Publisher: Entangled: Embrace approximate pages: 270 Romance: Contemporary, New Adult / College, friends-to-lovers ** Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review. ** -- MY THOUGHTS -- Judging a Book by it's Cover: The cover design is a nice monochromatic red/brown. Subtle and appealing. Add just a few touches of black to the font and it takes on an almost classic, old-school Hollywood vibe. The synopsis sounds like yet another college friends-to-lovers story with plenty of drama and fun antics. Looking Deeper: First thought: Similar plot to "She's All That" (1999, Freddie Prinze Jr, Rachel Leigh Cook) Alternating first-person POV's, clearly defined and easy to follow. Short and extremely curvaceous, Lyla was taught easy on to hide her curves under layers of boho chic clothing. Studious and nerdy, she's socially awkward. When the buddy of her roommate's boyfriend is overheard referring to her as "fugly and boring", she makes it a point to makes some changes - not for him, but for her. Recruiting the help of her hockey-jock and chem lab partner, Beck, is just the icing on the cake. The lead characters are easily likable. The secondary characters add a nice filling layer. The dialogue and interaction is believable and natural. The plot has it's moments of fun, seriousness, and emotional ups and downs all while reading with a smoothness that's rare to find. There were enough conflicts and challenges to keep things interesting and enough humor to balance the more serious issues. There was not a whole lot of predictability, but I did feel that the conclusion was left a bit rushed and open-ended. This does not mean that there were cliffhangers, but I think it could have benefited from an Epilogue 6, 12 or even further into the future. Overall, it was a fun read, lighter on the angst, heavier on comedic drama. ------------------------ Heat Level: 3.5 ------------------------ Score: 4.3 Stars: 4 ----------------------- -- REVIEWER INFO -- Tina J / Happily Ever Chapter

Getting Lucky Number 7. I LOVED this book. Iā€™m not normally excited about reading about college age characters because I want my characters to have lived a little. But I have to say Beck & Lyla were fun, sweet, funny, & authentic. Great storyline, I canā€™t wait to read the next. šŸ’œ

Lucky Number Seven. Such a good book!!! I laughed, I cried, I bit my nails, and had to run to the restroom cause I didn't want to put the book down!!!! Very much worth the read!!!!

No lead up. The story didnā€™t have nearly enough chemistry nor any good build up.

I love a great friends to lovers story!!!. I love it when I get lost in a book. This is the story of Lyla Wilder, the nerdy science girl and her best friend Beck Davenport, the hockey player. It might seem predictable but it wasn't. There was so much more to the story. Beck was the sexy jock that adored his nerdy best friend and vice versa, in a purely platonic way. Watching Lila blossom, while she checked off each item from her first year college bucket list, was beautiful. He already knew how beautiful she was on the inside. What was so great was that she never changed who she was inside. Watching his eyes open to see how beautiful she was on the outside too, was funny cause he fought it so hard. Beck had so much to deal with as far as his family went and with the new surprise sprung on him by his attorney, he was struggling. Read this sweet and sexy Romance to find out what ultimately happens between Lyla and Beck. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Great friends to lovers story!. I love it when unlikely couples come together and go the distance. In this case, it was nerdy, geeky Lyla who was best friends with college athlete and stud Beck. The two might not seem like they're meant for each other, but they've just been friends until Lyla decides to change herself. I liked Lyla and Beck. They were good together, having a firm relationship basis with their strong friendship. I liked how Beck was there for Lyla when she needed him, and how she knew she could count on him. I really liked the chemistry they had together, both as friends, and then as a possible romantic couple. I liked Lyla for for being a good friend to Beck when he needed it and even when he did't want it. I felt like she fought the most for him to see how good they could be. Here's what bothered me about the story. Makeovers are fine, but it didn't take Beck to truly desire Lyla until he saw her in skimpy clothing, makeup, contacts, etc. He already liked her as a person, but he didn't desire her until then. I also didn't like how Lyla used someone being rude, insensitive, and mean as the impetus to change herself. I did like how she took charge and didn't hesitate to make changes when she decided on a plan of action. I read this book quickly and it was enjoyable for the most part. The story flowed smoothly and there were no huge surprises. I did enjoy seeing Beck and Lyla deepen their friendship while trying to figure out a new equilibrium as lovers. It's hard to believe this is Cindi Madsen's first new adult novel. It was funny, sexy, and sweet, but not too explicit, so I think readers who are familiar with her stories won't be too scandalized by the content. I think she did a great job and look forward to seeing more new adult novels from her in the future.

Getting lucky number seven. Loved the book.

Lyla and Beck, happiness for my eyes. Holy moo moos--Cindi Madsen is my gurl! Hello doll, let's get it on. ... yeah, that is creepy. I won't say that anymore. I have a handful of books that I turn to in my times of need. That means books I go back to to self medicate with when I feel like crap. Lucky Number Seven is all over that list and Beck and Lyla are my book boyfriend and book girlfriend. It's a bit of an awkward and complicated relationship but we are quite happy together. In my times of need and when I just need a few moments to myself. ... yeah, that sounds creepy too. But I make no promises of not saying it again. Lyla is a prisoner of all the hype douchie people have filled her head with. She's cool. She's smart. She's fun. And she has a BFF who would drop everything in the blink of an eye for her. The real problem isn't her so much as it is her marketing. She is selling herself short and all of that is about to change, 'cause this woman is about to ROAR. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Just a little bit. Her roommate's a--hat friends have no vision. With them it's all x is hot and y is here because math is soft-hearted, they don't know how to solve this to make them look good from the right angle. They might not be able to see Lyla Wilder for who she is but this little pupa is about to bloom, and the first guy about to see her upgraded wings is none other than the BFF: Beck Davenport. Let me-tell-you-me, He's about to be knocked senseless because the beautiful girl who he adores is about to become the beautiful girl he can't stop touching, kissing, lusting, and loving. When the legends fall it always is with the grace of a hockey player struck dumb by a slap shot to the head. Beck has no idea what hit him but he needs to get his game on. Ms. Wilder's 7 step program to self improvement: New edgier look Do a keg stand (remember not to wear a skirt that night) Make out with a beautiful stranger (exact level of making out TBD as the kissing happens) Sing karaoke Dance on a bar (learn how to sexy dance, so I don't look like a fool when the bar dancing happens) Get a tattoo Have mind blowing sex. I won't lie I was trying to get her to see me for numbers 3, 5, and 7 but she had eyes for someone else. I love her to death but our girl-love is not meant to be because she and Beck are as good together as coffee and jalapeƱos. I love coffee and jalapeƱos. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Just a little bit. I poop you not this book is the one you want to warm you in your time of need. Hell, let it treat you right when you get home some night after work. It is also great for quickies between classes. Pay for the experience, it's worth every cent. ROAR!

Itā€™s literally so terrible. It seems like it was written by a teenager who thought this is what college was like. Itā€™s honestly just so horribly awful. The relationships between even the main couple were so bland and awful I donā€™t think I should be even counted as a romance.

Getting Lucky Number Seven. So this book has plenty of ups and downs. It focuses on part of the lives of Lyla and Beckett, also know as Beck. The college students go through SO much and I was laughing and crying, both happy and sad tears, throughout the the book. It also turns out my lucky number is seven. Anyway, loved it and could barely put it down.

Fun, easy reading. I really enjoyed this book, the ā€˜chemistryā€™ was great and it was such easy reading. Beck and Lyla were both believable characters with relatable issues. Would definitely recommend for a fun well written romance.

AMAZING. For someone who barely reads because I can never focus enough. It took me all of a little over 24 hours to read this entire book. I couldnā€™t stop grinning and swooning over these characters. I absolutely LOVED every second of it and Iā€™m honestly heart broken that it came to an end son quickly,
