The Second Chance Inn. So we’ll written! The romance aspect seemed a little rushed, but this is very SFW and the plot is interesting.

The Second Chance Inn. I enjoyed the story. Wendy may have been “over played” a little. She was continually feeling sorry for herself. All in all the characters were likable and the storyline was interesting. The book was very clean and could easily be read by teenagers, as well as their parents. A good read for a weekend at the beach or the ski lodge.

Wonderful. It got me thinking about my life and my relationship with my family.

Great story line. This story has a great story line; however, it could have been flushed out better. The love story and family story both needed more…I would recommend it as a good read though…you can add more.

Finding your heart at home. Wendy is one messed up woman who can’t get get past her issues. It takes her grandmother’s will to force Wendy back to the Inn at Blue Moon Bay to take a good look at herself and to see the bigger picture. I think the story drags out a little too much and Wendy just becomes annoying. Max, a charming and infinitely patient man becomes very attracted not only to Blue Moon Bay but, to Wendy. Their budding relationship is sweet and comforting until, Wendy discovers some things that send her spiraling. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lots of little kisses. This is a great book, very well written, and a clean romance. I love that this author’s books never feels slow and always captivate me. This book was no exception. Right from the beginning, the story moves you and tugs at your heart strings when you read about Wendy’s situation. Wendy has to return to her oceanside ancestral inn after the death of her grandmother. On arriving at the inn she is distraught over her situation and she has a break down on the beach. In that moment she meets Max. They have an immediate connection and chemistry. They share a special moonlit walk on the beach where she bears her soul. He turns a terrible emotionally overwhelming moment into something special and sweet. It really is super romantic moment and my absolute favorite part of the book. This is definitely more of a romantic drama than a romantic comedy, making me imagine this story as perfect for one of those Lifetime channel movies. There were some real themes addressed in this book of abandonment issues and loss of a loved one. Wendy is helped by Max to conquer her fears and to stop running away from her past so she can find her home. Max is the ultra dream guy with how stable and steady he is, being that shoulder for Wendy to lean on. I really wanted to learn more about her brother Brian, he was such an interesting character. Thankfully there is a book, The Sweetest Kiss, about him later in the series!

Home At Last. Finding where you truly belong is a wonderful gift. Sometimes finding perspective in distance is the key to hime. Love is the most precious gift of all, the ultimate gift. To grow and become strong, love needs to be nurtured like a tender seedling aspiring to be a mighty oak. This is a sweet. but not syrupy, tale of love and forgiveness. The writing is crisp, the characters are sympathetic, the plot is cohesive and the editing is tight. I’m looking for the next book in this series. This author is now a favorite!

Main character was annoying. I love the plot and the writing style but gosh I couldn’t stand the main character. I really had to push through with this book. She was so childish to hold on to such resentment. I wanted to slap some sense into her.

2nd chance inn. Was great. I didn’t want to put it down. It was easy to relate to the characters.

Sweet Romance and Plot, Fun Setting. I really enjoyed this novel, another sweet romance from Susan Hatler! I enjoyed her Better Date than Never series, but this Kissed by the Bay series might be better yet, if this first book is any indication. Wendy returns to Blue Moon Bay, her "hometown" for all intensive purposes, and has a mixture of things she's dealing with -- her relationships with her brother and friends that have been broken; the death of her grandmother; selling the inn; and a new love interest in Max. While I wanted her to just roll over and give in to Max, to the inn, to staying and enjoying Blue Moon Bay, it would have made a pretty boring story with little obstacles. I loved the tug of war she was experiencing with leaving or staying in Blue Moon Bay and the give and take with Max. Speaking of Max -- what a gentlemen, very swoon worthy! He helped so much in restoring the inn, being patient and lending a listening ear to Wendy and trying to win her over slowly. Watching her relationships go over a transformation with friends and her brother after years of hurt was nice. And I felt like Wendy was completely justified in her frustration and hurt with her parents. I mean, who does that to their kids? Her trust issues about everyone's motives seemed completely legit. Overall, this has all of the elements of a sweet romance with a nice plot line. It was the perfect length - not too short, not too long. The story had some depth and ebbed and flowed without dwelling on things or talking them to death. It got to the point. I really enjoyed it and plan to read the remaining books in this series. Hot, hotter, hottest. Please find another adjective…the main character seems ditzy for someone who supposedly runs a successful business. I could barely scratch the surface with this book. DNF.

Immature characters. I can’t believe Wendy was so successful, as immature as she was. Too many immature characters in this book. It seemed like she was writing about young 20 year olds.

Easy Read. I enjoyed the quick pace of the story. It was perfect for the summer.

Fun read about a beautiful location. Well written characters with a predictable but nicely written story line. I’m looking forward to reading about Olivia in the next book.

Ok. I’d say this is an ok read, ok for passing the time if you have nothing better to do! Repetitive throughout lost count of how many times she runs to the beach crying 🙄 very predictable even from the first couple of pages.....
