Kiss the Bride by Rachael Johns Book Summary

It seems that wedding fever has hit the little town of Marietta...

And that suits single mom, Magdalena Davis, just fine. It means the local gossips will stop hounding her about returning to town and the secret she’s kept for fifteen years. Home to make peace with her sick mother, the last thing Mags wants is to get involved in Marietta’s big celebrity wedding. But when her teenage daughter cajoles her into auditioning to sing with a local heartthrob, all her plans for flying under the radar zoom out of the window.

Country music singer, Jake Kohl, has lost his muse. He’s jaded from years of life in the fast lane and wants to settle in Marietta and lead a normal life. He reluctantly agrees to sing at the celebrity wedding, but what he doesn't expect is his co-singer to reignite his passion. But it’s not just the music she awakes in him. Magdalena makes Jake feel and want things he hasn’t for far too long, but there’s more to her than meets the eye.

Can Jake solve the mystery that is Magdalena and win her heart?

Kiss The Bride. By page 67 I knew I wasn’t going to even try to finish this book. Nothing new, and a hard on in the jeans in the first few pages.

A Perfect Duet. Magdalena Davis is the preacher's daughter who got pregnant at 17 and left Marietta under a cloud of disgrace and gossip. Now, she is back in Marietta with her beautiful 15-year-old in tow, to help her mother who has been diagnosed with cancer. All she wants to do is keep a low profile, help her Mom, take care of her daughter and run her business. She definitely isn't interested in the celebrity wedding that has got all of Marietta up in arms, until her daughter and sister convince her to try out for the chance to sing at the Wedding with Jake Kohl. Jake Kohl came to Marietta for the rodeo and decided it would be a great place to put down roots. So he bought a house and started to become part of the community. Unfortunately, that means he agreed to sing at the celebrity wedding, even though he doesn't really like the groom who asked him. He also has to go through the agony of auditioning a ton of local women, hoping to find someone passable enough to sing a duet with him. When Magdalena hits the stage, she is finally realizing a childhood dream and Jake finds a partner more perfect than he could have ever imagined, both in singing, and, he hopes, life. As these two start working together, can he get past her defenses and convince her that they are perfect together, on stage and off? This was a wonderful story. Magdalena has things in her past she needs to get through. She is a mother, with a mother's instincts, who puts her daughter before everything, happily. Jake is a good guy who realizes from the beginning that anything he starts with Magdalena has to be with an eye toward permanence, and he is determined to prove he is the right guy for her. Their interactions had me giggling and sighing, it was so much fun watching the relationship build. The story was well-paced, characters well-developed, and it was and overall solid storyline. I truly enjoyed my visit to Marietta and getting to know this couple. *I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the Publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Fantastic story!. Loved the story line. Hit home for sure. Great read. Couldn’t put it down.

Kiss the bride. I liked it. It was a short fast read and was a good book without using a lot of profanity or over the top sex. Enjoyed it.

Kiss the Bride. A sweet story & a fairy tale come true. Some references indicate the author is not from Montana, but that’s okay. The story shows how people wrongly judge people, draw the wrong conclusions & can ruin someone’s reputations & possibly their lives. Good HEA.

Sweet Second Chance Romance. "Kiss the Bride" by Rachael Johns is book five in the "Montana Born Brides" series. This can be read as a standalone. If you read them all, you will get to know more about all the characters. This is Magdalena Davis and country music singer, Jake Kohl's story. Magdalena left fifteen years ago when she was seventeen and pregnant. So for now, she is back in Marietta with her teenage daughter dealing with her mother's battle with cancer. Also, she wants to repair the relationship with her parents. Jake always writes his own songs, but lately has been going through a dry spell. He has been asked to sing at a celebrity wedding in Marietta. He just wants a normal life, but agrees to sing in this wedding with a co-singer from Marietta. Jake hosts a tryout to select a co-singer for this wedding. Magdalena is selected. From the start there is a physical and emotional connection between them. Their romance was really sweet and very passionate. Will Magdalena be able to move on from things in her pasts for a chance at true love? I really enjoyed this story. This story includes a sweet romance, dealing with family dynamics, forgiveness, and undeniable chemistry. The storyline flowed really well and I didn't want to put it down. I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishing for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content.

Surprising. Never saw the secret that Magdalena had kept for fifteen years. Drama and romance in this book with a happy ever after ending. Good read.

Kiss the Bride. The story and characters didn’t seem developed enough.

Fairy Tales Do Come True. Magdalena and Jake Kohl story was a fairy tale come true, with a few misconceptions about Magdalena past, because people jumped to conclusions.

Kiss The Bride. Contemporary romance, wonderful!

Nice. Nice novella. Sometimes shorter romance books are just what is needed.

Sweet but Sexy. What a wonderful addition to the Montana Born Brides series, this is a book that I could not put down. A sweet but sexy story of Mags and Jake, both that will be singing at the big wedding of Marietta. Neither were looking for love, but there is an instant chemistry between these two. Well developed characters, love the patience that Jake exhibits with Mag and her secret from her teenage years A quick read that will leave you smiling for a long time. Highly recommend this story.

Kiss the Bride. Very sweet story with lovable characters. Was thrown through a loop by references to a “car park”, “morning tea”, and pants called “trousers” when the book’s setting is Montana until I found out the author is from Australia! Despite this, I thought she did a great job of bringing “Marietta, Montana” to life.
