La Biblia católica es el conjunto de libros canónicos del cristianismo. La canonicidad de cada libro varía dependiendo de la tradición adoptada. Según las religiones judía y cristiana, transmite la palabra de Dios. Hasta 2008, ha sido traducida a 2454 idiomas.

La Biblia, tal y como la conocemos, fue recopilada por primera vez en la historia en el siglo III antes de Cristo, cuando setenta sabios judíos fueron invitados por el rey Ptolomeo II a acudir a Alejandría para aportar a la famosa biblioteca la historia del pueblo de Israel (lo que hoy llamamos el Antiguo Testamento). Durante meses, pusieron por escrito la memoria de miles de años del pueblo de Israel, desde Adán, hasta Moisés, incluyendo los libros históricos, sapienciales y proféticos.
Su trabajo se tradujo del arameo y hebreo antiguos al griego. Así nació la llamada
Biblia de los Setenta o Alejandrina (también Septuaginta), en la que se basa el texto cristiano actual.
Una recopilación hebrea de la historia de pueblo de Israel, llamado texto masorético ('tradición', en hebreo), se hizo en el siglo IX DC. Es la versión hebraica que no incluye el Nuevo Testamento.
El Nuevo Testamento y la recopilación de los Evangelios que retrataron la vida de Jesús, tuvo numerosas fuentes y autores. El papiro más antiguo del Nuevo Testamento es un fragmento de Juan que data de los años 125-130 d.C.
