After the mysterious marriage and subsequent death of a Minnesota man in the resort town of Pattaya, Thailand Allie finds herself back in Thailand saddled with an unwelcome partner investigating Thailand's morally challenged community of retired expats in a sun baked sea of prostitution, murder and fraud.

While recalling her childhood Allie navigates the neon reality of Thailand's booming tourism industry as she encounters a landscape of sexism and prejudice. She struggles to unravel murders and in the process protect those who find themselves in the magnetic path of danger and violence that seems to follow Allie.
