He agreed that each was being faithful in a specific way "and both ecumenics and biblical studies should make us aware that there are other ways of being faithful to which we do not do justice.... In short, a frank study of NT ecclesiologies should convince every Christian community that it is neglecting part of the NT witness." The passage of time is a significant contributor to different interpretations of the same historical event. Hence, the study of history is ambiguous, "having more than one possible meaning or interpretation." (3) The adoption by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) of the Baptist Faith and Message (BFM) in 1925 is an event that illustrates this point.
