John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Brookline, Massachusetts, 29 de mayo de 1917-Dallas, Texas, 22 de noviembre de 1963) fue un político estadounidense que se desempeñó como el trigésimo quinto presidente de los Estados Unidos. También fue conocido como Jack por sus amigos o por su sobrenombre JFK. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, destacó como comandante de la lancha torpedera PT-109 en el área del Pacífico Sur. Falleció asesinado el 22 de noviembre de 1963 en Dallas, Texas,[2] crimen por el que fue arrestado Lee Harvey Oswald, asesinado dos días después por Jack Ruby, por lo que no pudieron someterlo a juicio. La Comisión Warren concluyó que Oswald había actuado solo en el asesinato. Sin embargo, el Comité Selecto de la Cámara sobre Asesinatos estimó en 1979 que pudo existir una conspiración. El tema ha sido muy debatido y existen múltiples teorías sobre el magnicidio. Fue el cuarto presidente en funciones en ser asesinado, tras Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield y William McKinley. Kennedy, Sr. y Rose Fitzgerald. Joseph fue un empresario exitoso y líder de la comunidad irlando-estadounidense; fue embajador ante el Reino Unido. Rose era la hija mayor de John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, una prominente figura política de Boston, que fue congresista y alcalde de su ciudad. El matrimonio tuvo nueve hijos. En octubre de 1935, Kennedy se matriculó con retraso en la Universidad de Princeton, donde estuvo solamente seis semanas, ya que entre enero y febrero de 1936 fue hospitalizado durante dos semanas en el "Peter Bent Brigham Hospital", en Boston, para que le realizaran observaciones por una posible leucemia. Entre marzo y abril de ese año permaneció en Palm Beach, en la casa de invierno de la familia, recuperándose, y durante mayo y junio trabajó en el rancho de 40 000 acres de las afueras de Benson, Arizona. Después, entre julio y agosto participó en competiciones de vela, mientras se alojaba en la casa de veraneo de su familia en Hyannis Port.
