Taylor Jenkins Reid was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1983. From a young age she had been interested in the filmographic industry, which led to her attending Emerson College, a film and TV school in Boston, and moving to Hollywood at age 21, to pursue a cinematographic career. She worked in casting for movies during a number of years, where she met her soon-to-be husband. Reid soon realized her lack of passion for casting, but this helped her discover her devotion for writing, thus she left her job and dedicated solely to this. This is why her mother motivated her to go to Emerson College a film and TV school in Boston where she would begin her career in film production.The well-known author explains how she majored in media studies, which offered film and television theory courses, and, in addition, minored in hearing and deafness. Filled with doubts about her future, she momentarily thought of becoming a translator in the hopes of following a more practical career.
