A Dead End by Keeley Bates Book Summary

Kit Wilder is all washed up at the ripe old age of twenty-three. Blackballed by the producers of her hit TV show, she returns home to the affluent town of Westdale, chock full of Mayflower descendants, to enroll in college and lead a quiet life...until she discovers a skeleton in her house.

Kit quickly finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation led by the handsome detective, Romeo Moretti.  With the help of her new neighbors, Kit channels her former character, hotshot detective Ellie Gold, in order to solve the murder so she can get back to renovating her house and avoiding the Mayflower Madam, who also happens to be her hypercritical, gin-swilling mother.

book in search of an editor. I’m not sure if this book was self-published but if it actually was produced by a publishing house they are in bad need of editors. Missing words, jumps without transition — and it took several chapters before the author even bothered to tell readers that Westlake was in Pennsylvania, rather than in England or California, making for very confused reading.

A Dead End. It was a quick easy read. The characters were fun with great personalities. I caught myself giggling a few times while reading it.

Character Not to my Liking. The main character, Kit, seemed to be too self-centered, too cutesy for my taste. Additionally, the plot did not seem to hang together , and was very unrealistic. Miss Marple she was not.

Fun book. Very entertaining. Loved the characters and storyline. Read the book in one day.

A Dead End. The book was an easy read. I liked the characters, some young some old. A nice mix. Lots of dialogue and not too much description of the characters. Short, but nice ending. Will read book in the series.

Good read. Likable characters and a solid storyline. Missing a little punch but overall a good read.

A dead end. Didn't love it

A wonderful read!!!. Entertaining, humorous, sexy, and fun. I can't wait to continue the series.

A dead end. A fun story with no sex, blood & guts. Amazing - it can be done. Lois

A Dead End. Delightful tale of young actress forced from Hollywood due to reporting sexual misconduct, made even more poignant in light of recent “Me Too” events.

My. Great read, can't wait to the next in series, refreshing, girl next store type. Enjoyed it very much.

A Dead End. Enjoyed the read, especially liked the line from Thora about her new pillow...the packaging said it (the pillow) posed no threat to her health. Looking forward to reading The Deep End.

Loved the cheekiness of the characters! Excellent writing!. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I was impressed by the “fun” and the characters in this story. I couldn’t figure out “who had done it” till the very end. Well done!

A Dead End. Truly enjoyed this read. It moved along at a great pace. The main characters were charming as was the banter. The mystery was well thought out. I will definitely be watching for Book 2.

The Deep End. I read ur book ,it was a very good story.iI would recommend it to some that like a light reading experience

A Dead End. Great story. I love stories without graphic sex but still have romance. Keep up the good work.

Yes. I enjoyed this book. Characters were interesting as well as the story.

Excellent. Loved it. Kept you guessing until the end. Can't wait to read the next one.

A Dead End. Keeley Bates Y. A Dead End. 6.8/10 Free iBook. Very light murder mystery. Lacking character depth. Kit had starred as a cop in 4 series of her TV show until the producers killed off her character and she got black-listed. She returned to her small town to go to College and used her savings to buy a house, but found a skeleton under the floorboards. She can't help getting involved in the murder investigation, and the gorgeous detective on the case, Romeo, is an added bonus.

Interesting twists made for a great read. I enjoyed reading about descendants of Pilgrims and their legacy intertwined with a blackballed actress, murder, home renovations, making new friends of all ages, returning to study, family conflict and a plethora of rescue animals receiving more love than the daughter.

A Dead End. Do you have time to read, then this is the book to read, interesting, funny and the ending was not what I expected! A must read!!

A good beach read. It was fun and humorous with an interesting cast of characters. Lots of strong female roles.

Dead End. Fun!
