Great book. Must read!

Great.. If you are a Rays fan, you need to read this book. It is filled with history of the franchise and explains how the recent success of the team is by design and not merely due to chance and draft picks. It was very interesting.

Save your money and read Wikipedia. This is a very disappointing read. Every chapter was clearly written separately as there is frequent and repetitive introduction at the start of every chapter. Moreover, the book constantly refers to going the extra mile, making special moves, the extra 2% we are ostensibly learning about, but then never details just what that is. You could read the Wikipedia article about the 2008 season and learn just as much, or maybe more.

Avoid this book. This book really provided no insight into the success of the ball club beyond 'buy low, sell high'. It had a very narrow focus, and because there was so little to write about, it was very repetitive.

The story of sports greatest underdogs. Loved the book. It's geared toward the true baseball fan who has been wondering what goes on in the coveted front offices of the major leagues.
