Amazing intro into DnD for me. My best friend showed me these books when I was younger, around 14 or so, and Im still reading them now at 27. I started off with this book and became OBSESSED with reading the rest. I truly enjoy Salvatores writing style and the addition of content he brings into the Forgotten Realms. I enjoy Sci-Fi both futuristic, DnD style, alternate universe, you name it. This mans writing introduced me into a great world of sci-fi that Im greatful for discovering. Keep on, keepin on, Bob.

For D&D lovers!. This book is a must read for any D&D lover! It has wizards, fighters, clerics and the most beloved Drizzt Do'Urden featuring as a dual wielder known to us as the Ranger class. The book is a great one for those looking for inspiration to create their first character or those looking to enrich an already made one. The book goes by quickly and will most likely be read in a day or two; its "that" good!

Great book. Honestly a really great book with so many details and a great story. Any fan of fantasy or DnD would enjoy.

Great beginning to an adventurous series.. An absolute stellar read. Drizzt is so relatable and likable. I loved this book more than I thought I would. My husband has listened to the whole series, and recommended it to me. If you love anything fantasy, elves and lore, and crazy beasts, you’ll enjoy this. Salvatore does an exceptional job keeping you flipping page after page.

Homeland. Even after I finished the entire series, I left the beginning books for last. How else would it be?

Amazing!. If you enjoy Fantasy novels then you love this book! I read this book for the first time in my early twenties. Then again in my early thirties. Now in my forties, I have read it yet again! It is remarkable how in each read through I have made connections with different characters of this story. This is truly a work of art, a masterpiece! Illidan Stormrage, of World of Warcraft fame, is one of my favorite fantasy characters. Second only to Drizzt Do’Urden. I have read almost all of Salvatore’s books on Drizzt. I feel the undeniable urge to read them all again and just as before, it all started with Homeland.

Riveting page turner. I haven’t read a fantasy book for 20 years now I’m hooked! The fast pace and overarching plot of good conquers evil was so satisfying to read. Now I have to read the next book in the series to see the lead character continue his quest for truth with a new companion. So exciting!

Great Origin Story. An Excellent introduction into a legendary literary character.

The start for me…. This was the start for me. Great to revisit this book since it first came out…my goal is to reread/read all the “Drizzt books” and then tackle the new Drow books…aevendrow just to mention one of the “new” drow. It looks good so far though. Drizzt and company have never disappointed me. Come to think of it…never has this writer. It’s kinda funny how that works. Such a unique character. A heroic character with stories to tell.

Pure genius!. I’ve heard stories of Drizzit growing up but not that I finally got the chance to read it. I couldn’t put it down. Read it in about 2 hours. Can’t wait to start book two!

Incredible Fantasy book. This is my second time reading it. It’s an evergreen

Very Enjoyable. This was my introduction to the forgotten realms universe, and I must say it was very enjoyable. While the book was interesting it was also predictable at times and that took away from the great experience I had. The world building of the drow society was superb and I felt as if I was along side Drizzt witnessing the atrocities of his people along side him. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because again it was quite predictable at times. I have high hopes for the second volume, and am very eager to see Drizzt's journey to the surface, and what the Mind Flayers on cover might have in store for the hero.

Masterful and Instinctive. Being an aspiring novelist myself, I would be inclined to place R.A. Salvatore in the fantasy hall of fame if there were such a thing, with names such as Tolkien and CS Lewis. Many an author has written tell tail stories of heroic exploits enticing the endless world of our imaginations but few have evoked such emotion as to make the characters come alive like Salvatore. He has mastered casting out just enough line to keep you coming back until finally your hooked and you find yourself wanting to befriend the characters and be part of the adventures yourself.

I love this book. Maybe a little bit biased considering this is the first book i have ever finished on my own time but the writing and story telling was perfect and pretty easy for me to understand but not in a bad way, it has some words i need to look up but to be expected from a 13 year old
