Rhys David Cain, was found adrift in the ocean. Nobody knew who he was, not even himself. For eighty years his memories did not return. As an old man, he was still active and even enjoyed hunting. Rhys woke up in a world very different from the one he had lived in. In this world magic worked and he was a long missing hero. There was one other thing as well. He was young again.
There he met Likka, a white wolf that could speak to him and so much more. He also met Reaper, a horse that was more than meets the eye. These companions led him into an adventure to defeat the mage kings and lead the empire back into a golden age.
To do this he had to reassemble the remains of the Life Ward, the group of women sworn to keep his wife safe. They were also deeply in love with Rhys, even after six thousand years.
