Nice Overview. This book is a nice overview of Ukraine’s history. Things move along quickly at times, but the books flows well and is well written.

History of the Ukrainian Region Outlined. Following the first third of the book requires focus. Names of people and ever changing regions foreign to Anglophiles are challenging to follow. For those with a better grasp of the WWI through WWII eras and beyond, clarity and comprehension improve. This book offers a good education on the regional history, that of ever moving armies and hordes as they sweep through, a new one almost every generation for hundreds of years. Read this if you want better clarity on the outside and inside forces shaping the Ukraine. After you read this, it’s understandable why country boundaries continue to oscillate.
