Halma by Benito Pérez Galdós Book Summary
Halma es una novela excelente, teñida de un humorismo muy sutil, delicioso, con descripciones y diálogos acertadísimos y personajes llenos de interés. Escrita en octubre de 1895, inmediatamente después de “Nazarín”. En ella Galdós prolonga el tema del sacerdote vagabundo y desinteresado.Halma es el nombre de una mujer aristócrata, viuda de un conde alemán, que con su fortuna planea crear un centro de beneficencia para pobres en Pedralba, una de su propiedades. Para ello cuenta con Nazarín, a quien invita a incorporarse al proyecto. Forma parte de la serie de novelas que sobre la caridad y la espiritualidad cristiana y católica escribió Galdós a continuación del ciclo Torquemada, y que iniciada con “Angel Guerra” culminaría con “Misericordia”.
