La Quarta Corona by Giuseppe Patota Book Summary
Se il fiorentino letterario del Trecento vede affermarsi il proprio primato nel panorama linguistico del tempo, è grazie al ruolo di Dante, Petrarca e Boccaccio, "le tre Corone". Ma se quel fiorentino è poi diventato la lingua degli italiani, lo si deve a Pietro Bembo, a cui a buon diritto questo libro attribuisce il titolo di "Quarta Corona". È del 1525 l’opera che lo avrebbe reso famoso, la grammatica più importante dell’intera storia dell’italiano, nota sino a oggi come Prose della volgar lingua (che però non è il vero titolo, come si scopre qui). Entrando nell’officina del grammatico, il volume mette a fuoco i momenti centrali dell’esperienza bembiana, per dar conto del peso che hanno avuto nella definizione della norma non solo le regole esplicitamente fissate da messer Pietro, ma anche quelle da lui silenziosamente applicate nella scrittura e imitate dagli autori che lo seguirono.
